I get bored of decks easily and since I bought most of the Modern staples back in 2011, I barely just need a few cards for decks or just new cards in new sets. Also, I feel I have something to prove.
When I played Bogles for the longest time, I felt that some players thought that I couldn't do as well without playing Bogles. I played the deck mostly on and sometimes off for over a year. I felt that winning with a less than Tier 2 deck proved something at least. Then I did well with Grishoalbrand and opponents got upset about this as well. You won't believe how many, "this deck should be banned" comments I got. So, I've switched a lot since then, but I learned one thing. Haters are going to hate. Any time you're beating someone, especially on a consistent basis, they're not going to be happy. Right now, I am trying to get really good at Company decks since most of my experience was right when it came out, running Abzan with both Combos, but Congregation at Dawn instead of Chord of Calling. I basically built the deck to beat Burn and Twin and I was rewarded for that. It's only in the past 2 years or so that some players are starting to say that I can win in Modern with a "ham sandwich" and that feels really good. (except now I'm thinking they're not respecting my Standard and Limited skills, of which I used to do super well when I did them regularly) I get touchy easily you could say, although I usually keep it all inside, so nobody knows.
I did notice recently when I've won with Humans or Knightfall, my opponents have said, "good game" more often. I don't think I ever heard that when playing Bogles or Grishoalbrand, lol.

You've got quite a repertoire there. I think losing to humans feels more "fair" since they got beat by random villagers, instead of Griselbrand on turn 2
And bogles, that deck pains me, I used to run explosives, gust, back to nature cos there was a regular bogles at my LGS.
@Heenock
Those 2 acid mosses look extremely useful, I would wanna play them too but I'm at a loss as to what to cut. Really hard to find space in the mainboard. Maybe I will cut 1 Explore, 1 Wood Elves for them. With them and leylines in the sideboard, I don't see how I am ever gonna lose the mirror
I recently shifted from Abzan CoCo to TitanShift. I made my research on TitanShift, saw some vídeos, compared some lists and so on. My maindeck is pretty default.
Sideboard-wise, I think you cannot be prepared for everything, so I made my SB focused on matches that I might encounter on LGS and the rest, I only accept defeat or pray for some luck.
Sill, I have some questions... I would appreciate if you guys take a little of your time to make things clear for me . Here we go:
1. What are the most "trap" hands (Initial cards that seems to be good, but I would regret not to mulligan)?
2. I run 4 copies of Leyline of Sanctity in SB, but against heavy discard decks or Burn decks, I find myself doing "over-sideboarding" alot, putting all 4 copies of LoS and 2 Baloths. And that made me think if LoS is really essential, I mean, those 4 slots in SB could turn into more baloths, or more lifegain and so on... what do you gys think of 4 LoS in SB? Is it really necessary?
3. Countermagic seems to hinder us alot and in maindeck there's no room for boseiju. Is boseiju a card that is worth 1 SB slot?
4. Did anyone tried 2 x Rude Awakening as a 5th and 6th scapeshift? this card seems so sweet inthe deck (either MD or SB) and an excelente topdeck in mid/late game.
5. Is the match againt Death and Taxes winnable at all? How do I make this MU less horrible? A guy at LGS started to show with D&T and I simply cannot win Is there a way to improve my SB without losing cards that are good against other decks?
Hello fellow Shifters, I'm going to Charlotte and this is the basic "help my SB" post. I'm playing a classic build with no omens/chandras and in those 3 flex slots playing 2 Khalni heart and 1 Acidic slime. My current SB is:
2 anger (w 2 main)
2 baloth
2 beast within
1 ruric thar (dudes a house)
1 rec sage
1 crumble to dust
1 pulse or murasa (maybe this should be baloth #3)
1 ancient grudge
1 relic of progenitus
1 Graf cage
1 natural state
1 fracturing gust.
So my main thought on my SB flex is the gust and the 4th anger, possibly try to get my hands on thrun/gaeas revenge as a 1 of to help with the blue control matchups and a nature's claim as another way to deal with affinity/lantern/blood moons? Any ideas are apriciated.
I was recently lucky enough to have a chance to pick this deck up for absurdly cheap, and now I'm looking at options regarding changes to make to the list I purchased. Below is my current list as it stands, and then I'll put down the changes I've thought about so far. I will say I'm 100% new to Titanshift... but absolutely loving the deck so far.
With that out of the way, here are the changes I was thinking about making. Any comments on these or the deck construction in general would be greatly appreciated!
A lot of what im about to suggest is personal preference, whilst I agree with most/all of your swaps there are a couple of things that stand out as non standard in the deck.
To begin with, lands: I would think about adding another 3 green fetches in place of 1 Stomping Ground, 1 Cinder Glade and 1 Mountain. This is not only to thin the deck later in the game but also increases the chances that you can fetch for a Forest in response to Blood Moon which will otherwise lock you out.
Kalni Heart Expedition: I believe it to be too slow in the current meta and the worst possible draw late game. It gets significantly better with more fetches and more explores in the deck but I have cut it completely from my list.
Relic of Progenitus: A meta call, I keep my 2 in the SB
Anger: Again a bit of a meta call but I've found 3 to be fine most of the time with 2MB, 1 in the side.
One recent and popular option is Prismatic Omen, for me its a real all star particularly when your opponent isnt expecting it as you can scapeshift for more than lethal on 6 lands instead of the 18 from 7. If you resolve it early vs control decks it makes it much easier to eek out the win through just making land drops. It also makes fetches pull double duty with an active Valakut and fixes mana after a Bloodmoon.
As I said, the deck seems solid but your SB will depend almost entirely on the local meta.Chameleon Colossus for example, makes Death's Shadow players scoop. Thrun, the Last Troll is great in a meta full of UW control and Chalice of the Void often kills burn which the deck is generally weak to.
Either way I'm sure you will really enjoy the deck and be sure to post results on here.

Thanks for the input! I was definitely planning on fixing up the lands a bit but wasn't sure about what direction would be best there, so I'll give that a shot with a few Windswept Heaths.
My local meta has a fair amount of both graveyard decks and go-wide decks like Counters Company, various Knight of the Reliquary decks, etc. So I like having a few Relics in the main and the full set of Anger split between the main and side.
As for the Khalni Heart Expeditions I was definitely considering reducing or nixing them as I haven't seen a ton of recent lists running them. I may cut them down to 2 to start and add in two Prismatic Omens.
Currently my meta is fairly aggressive, with a number of fast aggro decks, some burn (which makes me sad because I can't afford Chalices at the moment), and then a few control players and combo players. I've definitely thought about including a Thrun in the side somewhere, along with maybe a second Witchbane Orb to try and stave off the burn players.
I'm most worried about Ad Nauseam, as we've got a really, really good Ad Naus player locally and I wind up playing against him fairly often. That matchup seems absolutely abysmal, and I'm not exactly sure if there's a way to really improve it postboard. Try and hit their 4-of lands/cut them off of white with a quick Crumble to Dust and then cross your fingers and hope you slowed them down enough?
Sounds like a tough meta to be stuck in. The 3 Baloths and Thragtusk in the SB make a good deal of sense vs burn/ fast aggro.
Yea the Ad-nauseum matchup is basically unwinnable because of the laylines and Angel's Grace to dodge or keep them alive through lethal scapeshift. As a spitball idea you could try splashing black for [s]Slaughter Games[/c] but beyond that it is basically hope to not play him.

EDH BRGKresh the BloodbraidedBRG, A box of lands and ideas.
Modern: RG Titanshift. A deck made of cards too stupid for EDH.
Retired: Lots. More than I feel you should suffer through or I should type out.
Going to be rocking the following list tonight at a local Modern event. I'm expecting the turnout to be relatively small as a good chunk of our regulars are in Cincinnati at the SCG Open. Will do my best to take notes on how the matches go and will update this post when I get back.
Expected metagame consists of: 1-? Storm players, 1-2 8-Rack players, 1-3 Burn players, 1-2 Bant Eldrazi players, 1-? Vizier Company players, 1 Merfolk player, 1-? Grixis Control players, 1-? Gx Tron players, and 1 Mono W Humans player, with the possibility of Eldrazi Tron and Mono W DnT
Edit: Got halfway through typing up my report then canceled the edit. Going to hit the sack for tonight and write up a new post tomorrow. Went 3-1, though!
Finally have a free minute to get around to writing up the report, so here we go!
Round 1: Mardu Nahiri (0-2) Game 1: On the draw, I kept a decent 7 that would get me 18 points of damage in on turn 4 off a Scapeshift. Proceed to get my hand shredded by discard spells into Liliana, and by he landed Nahiri there wasn't much I could do before I was staring down a hasty Emrakul.
Game 2: He opens with a Leyline to start the game, and I never saw a single piece of enchantment removal the entire game. Managed to get Valakut online to bolt down his Lingering Souls that I hadn't seen the game before, but eventually I lost to a flurry of burn spells. I did misplay by forgetting to crack a fetch to kill a Shambling Vent that was smacking me, but the two life it would have wound up saving me didn't really matter.
Round 2: Budget GB Eldrazi (2-1) Game 1: I learned a lesson about keeping hands with a bunch of green spells and basic mountains. Not something I'm going to do again!
Game 2: Anger and bolt took care of his first few creatures then Scapeshift got me the rest of the way on turn 4.
Game 3: See above. Wipe the board a few times, then Scapeshift for the win. Nothing too crazy in this round.
Round 3: Budget Mono Red Exert/Fliers (2-0) Game 1: At this point I kinda felt bad getting two new opponents in a row, but they were both interested in talking about the deck/magic in general both during and after the games so it was fine. Scapeshift got me the game here.
Game 2: Went for the Titan kill for the first time tonight, followed up by a cracked Expedition to finish him off. Spent the rest of the time in the round talking about Magic, what kind of decks they liked, etc.
Round 4: Counters Company/Vizier Company (2-1) Game 1: This guy is one of the other regulars so I knew what he was on. Game 1 was pretty much who could combo first, and with two Bolts backed up by an Anger I was able to go off a turn before he could with ye olde Scapeshift.
Game 2: He wound up going off turn 3 through a bolt. Sometimes the faster combo deck just does its thing faster, I suppose.
Game 3: Kept a hand with 2 Bolts and an Anger, and wound up staving him off just long enough to go for the kill off an 18 damage Scapeshift.
Overall I was super happy with how the night went! Having not played the deck at an event before I did make a few minor misplays, however the rest of the night I felt like I was playing well. Definitely enjoyed my first night out with the deck!
@Magoom Yes and no, lots of decks have better interactions with artifacts in the SB than they do with enchantments. Personally I dont play either and try to get Baloth or chalice out asap to deal with burn.

EDH BRGKresh the BloodbraidedBRG, A box of lands and ideas.
Modern: RG Titanshift. A deck made of cards too stupid for EDH.
Retired: Lots. More than I feel you should suffer through or I should type out.
Round 1: UR Storm (2-1) Game 1: I kept an opener that had a bunch of red mana, 2 Relics, and some green spells. This turned out to be my undoing, but... not quite how you'd expect. I knew he was on Storm which is the only reason I kept that hand. He opens the game by Thought Scouring me, milling over a fetchland. Of course. I bolt a reducer, he plays a Pyromancer Ascension, tipping me off to the fact that he's not on Gifts Storm. I wind up never drawing any way to get green mana the entire game, but the game is prolonged by the fact that he doesn't quite know his deck yet. He would just cycle a bunch of rituals only to pass the turn, even with a Past in Flames in hand. He also only ever Thought Scoured me instead of himself to turn on Ascension, but this wound up cutting me off green every single time so... I guess it worked out for him?
Game 2: I keep a much better 7, and wind up dropping a Witchbane Orb on turn 3. He hadn't sideboarded but didn't seem to care I now had hexproof, making me assume he had Empty the Warrens in his deck. That didn't wind up mattering because on turn 5 I wound up doming him for 36.
Game 3: Much the same as game 2. Kept a good 7, dropped a Witchbane Orb, domed him for 54.
Round 2: Eldrazi Tron (2-1) Game 1: He kept a fairly slow hand and wasn't able to Thought-Knot me until the turn before I went off. I had two Scapeshifts in hand at that point and just killed him regardless.
Game 2: I kept a slow-ish hand that just couldn't keep up with him. Never had the chance to cast the Crumble in my opener.
Game 3: Multiple Hour of Promises combined with a pair of Primeval Titans won me the game pretty handily. He kept a decent 7 but just wasn't able to keep up with 4 threats in a row.
Round 3: Affinity (1-2) Game 1: He played out a greedy hand which promptly got his Steel Overseer bolted before he could do anything with it. Didn't have a chance to build his board back up before I Scapeshifted for 36.
Game 2: I think I made a mistake while sideboarding here. Is it better to take out more of my big payoff cards so my chances of having to tap out are lower? I was going to lose regardless as I wasn't able to keep up with his nut draw into an infect kill.
Game 3: I managed to bolt an early dude but never saw the Wrath I needed, or the artifact destruction. Rough game was rough!
Round 4: Mono Black Devotion? (2-0) Game 1: This guy is normally on Mono Black Devotion or Mono White Humans. I'm not actually sure if he's running a full devotion build or if he's just using Gary as a win-con. I've never seen anything else involving devotion from his deck. Regardless, an Anger to wipe his greedy board and a Bolt to clean up the leftovers opened him up to getting Scapeshifted for 36.
Game 2: Very similar to game 1, except Tireless Tracker came down and allowed me to draw into the Scapeshift I needed after my first one was Thoughtseized. Feels like a very good matchup for me since he just isn't able to get enough damage out fast enough.
Overall very happy with how the night went. My only question is sideboarding for Affinity. Is it best to turn into a pseudo-control deck and side out some of our 5+ cmc wincons?
no Hour was not good enough during my test, often I would have liked to have hate instead of hour, and hour is not synonymous with "cast = I won" in contrary
with scapeshift.
I'll also chime in that I don't like Hour of Promise very much. I find that running them tilts the curve of the deck up enough that there are more hands that you have to mull that you'd be able to keep in a non-Hour build, especially if you're cutting smaller ramp for the Hours.

Yea the Ad-nauseum matchup is basically unwinnable because of the laylines and Angel's Grace to dodge or keep them alive through lethal scapeshift. As a spitball idea you could try splashing black for [s]Slaughter Games[/c] but beyond that it is basically hope to not play him.

Edit: Got halfway through typing up my report then canceled the edit. Going to hit the sack for tonight and write up a new post tomorrow. Went 3-1, though!
Finally have a free minute to get around to writing up the report, so here we go!
Round 1: Mardu Nahiri (0-2)
Game 1: On the draw, I kept a decent 7 that would get me 18 points of damage in on turn 4 off a Scapeshift. Proceed to get my hand shredded by discard spells into Liliana, and by he landed Nahiri there wasn't much I could do before I was staring down a hasty Emrakul.
In: 3x Naturalize, 3x Obstinate Baloth, Thragtusk, Tireless Tracker, Reclamation Sage
Out: 2x Khalni Heart Expedition, 2x Anger of the Gods, 2x Relic of Progenitus, 2x Farseek, Explore
Round 2: Budget GB Eldrazi (2-1)
Game 1: I learned a lesson about keeping hands with a bunch of green spells and basic mountains. Not something I'm going to do again!
In: 2x Anger of the Gods
Out: 2x Relic of Progenitus
Game 2: Anger and bolt took care of his first few creatures then Scapeshift got me the rest of the way on turn 4.
Game 3: See above. Wipe the board a few times, then Scapeshift for the win. Nothing too crazy in this round.
Round 3: Budget Mono Red Exert/Fliers (2-0)
Game 1: At this point I kinda felt bad getting two new opponents in a row, but they were both interested in talking about the deck/magic in general both during and after the games so it was fine. Scapeshift got me the game here.
In: 2x Anger of the Gods
Out: 2x Relic of Progenitus
Game 2: Went for the Titan kill for the first time tonight, followed up by a cracked Expedition to finish him off. Spent the rest of the time in the round talking about Magic, what kind of decks they liked, etc.
Round 4: Counters Company/Vizier Company (2-1)
Game 1: This guy is one of the other regulars so I knew what he was on. Game 1 was pretty much who could combo first, and with two Bolts backed up by an Anger I was able to go off a turn before he could with ye olde Scapeshift.
In: 2x Anger of the Gods, Tireless Tracker
Out: Farseek, Explore, Khalni Heart Expedition

Round 1: UR Storm (2-1)
Game 1: I kept an opener that had a bunch of red mana, 2 Relics, and some green spells.
In: 1x Relic of Progenitus, 2x Nature's Claim, 1x Witchbane Orb
Out: 2x Hour of Promise, 1x Primeval Titan, 1x Explore
Game 2: I keep a much better 7, and wind up dropping a Witchbane Orb on turn 3. He hadn't sideboarded but didn't seem to care I now had hexproof, making me assume he had Empty the Warrens in his deck. That didn't wind up mattering because on turn 5 I wound up doming him for 36.
Game 3: Much the same as game 2. Kept a good 7, dropped a Witchbane Orb, domed him for 54.
Round 2: Eldrazi Tron (2-1)
Game 1: He kept a fairly slow hand and wasn't able to Thought-Knot me until the turn before I went off. I had two Scapeshifts in hand at that point and just killed him regardless.
In: 2x Crumble to Dust, 2x Nature's Claim
Out: 3x Lightning Bolt, 1x Relic of Progenitus
Game 2: I kept a slow-ish hand that just couldn't keep up with him. Never had the chance to cast the Crumble in my opener.
Game 3: Multiple Hour of Promises combined with a pair of Primeval Titans won me the game pretty handily. He kept a decent 7 but just wasn't able to keep up with 4 threats in a row.
Round 3: Affinity (1-2)
Game 1: He played out a greedy hand which promptly got his Steel Overseer bolted before he could do anything with it. Didn't have a chance to build his board back up before I Scapeshifted for 36.
In: 2x Nature's Claim, 1x Naturalize, 2x Anger of the Gods
Out: Hour of Promise, Explore, Farseek, 2x Relic of Progenitus
Game 2: I think I made a mistake while sideboarding here. Is it better to take out more of my big payoff cards so my chances of having to tap out are lower? I was going to lose regardless as I wasn't able to keep up with his nut draw into an infect kill.
Game 3: I managed to bolt an early dude but never saw the Wrath I needed, or the artifact destruction. Rough game was rough!
Round 4: Mono Black Devotion? (2-0)
Game 1: This guy is normally on Mono Black Devotion or Mono White Humans.
In: 2x Anger of the Gods, 2x Obstinate Baloth, Tireless Tracker
Out: 2x Primeval Titan, 2x Relic of Progenitus, Hour of Promise
Game 2: Very similar to game 1, except Tireless Tracker came down and allowed me to draw into the Scapeshift I needed after my first one was Thoughtseized. Feels like a very good matchup for me since he just isn't able to get enough damage out fast enough.
Overall very happy with how the night went. My only question is sideboarding for Affinity. Is it best to turn into a pseudo-control deck and side out some of our 5+ cmc wincons?

1-2 vs UR Storm
2-1 vs UG Merfolk
2-1 vs UR Storm
2-0 vs UG Merfolk
2-0 vs Eldra Tron
List :
the list is optimized to confront Aggro/Storm and have a better Game 1 match against the new meta (Affinity, UG Merfolk, Storm, Human...) . (MD : 4 Lightning bolt , 1 Sweltering Suns, 1 Anger of the gods, 2 Relic of progenitus)
The 1 Suns / 1 Anger split is willing to play around Meddling mage
Bonus :
@CthuluHoops : I recommend to remove 2 Scapeshift vs Affinity for not drawing too much win condition and make room for hate.
