Buy it if you want a risk. They already warned about opal last bannings. So I don't understand people which investing so much money to cards on a watch list. Are you angry and surprised if it happens?
Yeah, probably a good idea not to get into a Mox Opal deck now. Not angry or surprised, more sad because it's my favourite deck and strategy hehe.
The decks that use Mox Opal are kinda struggling in the current meta though, but who knows how it will look if they ban Faithless Looting first.
There was only 1 burn deck in the top 32? How is that possible? and look at the top cards played right now...
Looks like the Steel overseer has "won" over Mimic and Llanowar Reborn is "better" than Ruins of Oran-Rief which I still don't understand
edit: How can WOTC not reprint Surgical Extraction and Manamorphose in some stupid from the vault: Spells set? These ******* prices...

Man discussion on HSA is pretty dead...really tempting to think it's a flash in the pan when suddenly two copies popped up in a GP top 8. Maybe not a lot of pros push it? The results don't really pair up well with the talk about the deck in any case.
Anyway, can argue that overseer is better than mimic, the grindy pace of the deck doesn't match well with the velocity mimic provides and although it can have some nut plays in theory...overseer can grind out better since it can buff manlands and is a better clock.
Been testing with llanowar reborn recently to see it's about. I used to be a doubter but it's a free counter that can set up busted plays and can really grind out with animation module and throne for recurring board presence.
The problem with oran-rief is that it can't make mana when you need the counter and vice-versa. Honestly hate having to see this too early or too late. It's really just a card choice from the pase when HSA was too early to have a good stock list and could really be dropped moving forward...
Interesting to see Gavony Township in 1 of the top 8 decks. One would think that it's too mana intensive, but +1/+1 to a bunch of Thopters is damn good.

He said he thought it was dope in the deck tech and he got to the top 8, so there's probably something about it
Steel overseer the land is definitely powerful but I really can't remember the times I would ever reach 5 mana with this deck. Are there any clips of the matches or has anyone playtested with gavony yet?
Soooo how's this deck doing? Just recently got into it again after not playing for a couple of months, hope it's not a flash in the pan lol.It isn't dead but there's not much discussion for the new stock lists in the current meta.
What's the consensus on new stock lists and the some oddball stuff on the recent top 8 lists like:
Llanowar reborn
Gemstone Caverns
Mimic vs Overseer
Llanowar reborn is such a headscratcher because new lists run 2-3 and it's seems awfully slow but a lot of people swear by it, how good is G: graft 1 really?
The thing about this deck is that it's actually super mana inefficient a lot of the time. Most of the stuff you want to play is 2 drops, and a lot of the time you end up leaving one land untapped anyway. So playing llanowar + ballista on turn 3 might not be so bad. Overall I think that it seems like a reasonable addition to the deck.
Honestly I think Gavony is pretty shady, we already cut a lot of forests as it is, access to white is questionable, and we don't exactly run a lot of mana. I guess when it works it's nice, but the other fringe colorless options seem more relevant (Phyrexia's Core, More Blinkmoths)
Overall the deck is doing better now than it has been before chiefly because:
1. GDS cut their K-commands to the side, and even then they cut down on the side K-commands
2. KCI disappeared and took a lot of stonies with it
3. UW is getting beat down by the top decks atm.
I'd say it's definitely a top 8 deck, but probably not top4

Agree on the mana efficiency honestly I hope modern horizons shakes this deck up in a way with cards that will spread the curve. 2 drops slot is really dense and it feels bad having a hand clogged with overseer, ravager, throne, and ballista/hangarback.
Also really sold on llanowar reborn, it makes mediocre hands ok and nut hands nuttier. 2 is the correct number to play I think. Still don't see the value in gavony township and am currently trying caverns. I think it's a better "do nothing land" than core or township but I've yet to test extensively.
Recently went 3-1 with this deck too, meta was pretty varied though and I took a good beating from storm (i wonder why) Really looking forward to piloting this deck more as it seems fun but am just contemplating on the correct splash for now. Have you been running the stock list @Stille_Nacht?

Yeah, and overseer is honestly nearly as fast as mimic in many cases, especially if there is no HS resolved. In games where you are rushing down, it's just way better in general.
The reason that Llanowar Reborn is better than Ruins of Oran-Rief is threefold:
1. Green - this is actually really important. We're cutting so much green for Darksteels and Inkmoths that those last few land slots are relatively precious.
2. Mana Efficient - You don't have to pay for the graft counter, which is actually kind of huge because of how Modern be right now (Top Deck Phoenix, 2nd Deck Dredge). Oran Rief is something that isn't likely to contribute more than llanowar did to the board state by turn 4-5, which is honestly around when games are usually decided.
EX: turn 3 llanowar -> grafted ballista (4/4) -> turn 4 casting 2, 2drops -> turn 5 casting something
turn 3 ruins -> non-grafted ballista (2/2) -> turn 4 casting 2, 2 drops -> turn 5 using oran rief for the first time
3. Redundancy - The time when Oran Rief is really good is when you're in top deck mode. However, the problem here is that the deck does either remarkably well in equivalent topdeck wars with decks like GB or even Grixis now, and remarkably terribly in topdeck wars against decks like UW or Prison. So it ends up being redundant or not useful where it's supposed to be great.
I'll definitely be getting a karns bastion. Also toying with the idea of the new Karn in the main
Karn, the Great Creator 4 Legendary Planeswalker - Karn Rare
Activated abilities of artifacts your opponent's control cannot be activated.
+1 >> Until your next turn, up to one target noncreature artifact becomes an artifact creature with power and toughness equal to its converted mana cost.
-2 >> You may reveal an artifact card you own from outside the game or in exile, reveal that card, and put it into your hand.
<<5>>
interesting to see what other proliferate cards will be released.
Proliferate land is pretty good, but not busted. Will definitely try it out in phyrexia's core spot though. Not digging WAR Karn. Pretty good as an SB card but kind of slows us down even further. Sure it can get SB cards but casting DOM Karn was always a chore at 4 mana and we're pretty much guaranteed to almost never use that +1 ever (niche case animating an animation module as an extra attacker?) I'd consider it if I had whir in my meta though.
@BlazingRagnarok I know that. I am looking for "like" solutions for long-term value against Whir. If there is anything we have against that deck it is time. lol

Better than Gavony Township?
Downside: can't pump tokens or Inkmoth Nexi without counters on them already.
Upsides: requires no colored mana, proliferate infect counters, mess with chalice, works with planeswalkers
