Eh really not that good honestly, we have many other ways of giving hexproof and altering our current efficient cards to the elephant token just seems not a great use of our resources.
You know what? I think we missed a good card for this deck because its just so subtle. Ranger Class Now the initial token isn't that much in a 2/2 wolf and while a non repeatable body that in itself does not provide devotion, its nice nonetheless. Like hex drinker it levels up. Now while this deck isn't really one for many mana sinks I believe getting to level 2 would be worth wile.
First off at level 2 you may put a counter on E1 or Barkhide Troll if they attack. Now it is limited to only one +1 counter a turn but if you need to hexproof barkhide or regen E1 during battle that is actually a benefit. Then it allows more counters on creatures we dont normally counter on like dryad, steel leaf, and avatar both before and after the fact. Alongside actually making pack leader easier overall since it or another creature could get the counter and only needs one of our one drops to draw a card.
I think a pair or trio maybe. Probably not a four off but who knows the token could provide good coverage? I will say that while level three seems interesting we would like as not ever have enough mana to sink for it unless were VERY on the down swing. Could replace Rhonas since other than 4 mana over 2 turns we dont need to keep much up after the fact. Also any copies that get to level 2 are counted as their own so they can put a counter on as well.
That's honestly what I've been thinking/what the discord community has been slowly coming around too. I'm probably going to run it as a 2x in my build.
However it's a bit slow, having to delay a potential good T3 play to get the level up, but I can see it being a payoff later.
One guy in discord ran it, and it constantly drew removal attention. so take that as you will.

It's easy to believe you're a god when you're twice as powerful as everyone else.
Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've been on here.
Is there an active Discord server for Mono Green Stompy? I am in one, but there hasn't been a conversation in there since around a year ago.
I'm interested to see if Werewolf Pack Leader will be replacing Barkhide Troll, but they feel like sidegrades that depend on the meta.
I'm not completely sold on the Lair of the Hydra. Coming in untapped as land 1 or 2 seems very nice of course, but it still comes into play tapped on turn 3 (which is not insignificant) and the creature you get from it is a lot weaker than Treetop Village and doesn't have trample. Ranger Class does not seem good enough to me. It costs 4 mana to get 3 power and 1 devotion in play; it feels to me that it's more of a midrange/lategame card in comparison to other, more aggressive options.
These are all just my opinion without having played them, however.
(I still think that Smell Fear is a really cool card, but I'm afraid it's probably not going to be good enough.)
Sidenote: are there people still playing with fetches and Narnam Renegade, or am I the only one? ;_;
Has it really been almost 4 years since I've posted here? Boy time flies. I know our discord is pretty dead, but I wanted to post my new build. I've been moving a lot over the last few years, so I haven't had a chance to find a LGS for any FNM stuff to test it. I play on Forge, but the AI can only do so much ya know. Anyways, here is the link to my new version of stompy.
Since 2021, when you last wrote, many things have changed for the Stompy deck. I'm also on the Discord channel, and unfortunately, I sadly notice it's not very active. I came back to this forum because I remembered that a long time ago I used to comment here, and out of nostalgia, I wanted to return. I'm glad that at least one person is still active in 2025 and shares this sense of nostalgia with me, haha. Anyway, back to the Stompy deck, I think it has received various upgrades over the years, some staples, others up for discussion. Keen-Eyed Curator: I believe this card completely replaces the scavenging ooze and can finally send it into retirement.GG 3/3 vs 1G 2/2 is already an upgrade. Additionally, the ability to gain +4/+4 and trample with potentially only 4 cards makes it a worthy successor to the scavenging ooze. Fanatic of Rhonas: This was a card I was skeptical about at first, but the ability to add 4 mana, maybe on turn 3 after casting Old Growth Troll, and then play another one right after, or use that 4 mana to immediately transform Hexdrinker, is very, very strong. Additionally, if it dies, we get a flashback at 4 with a 4/4, so it’s also a late-game card that guarantees a 2-for-1 Webstriker Elite: Probably a meta card, but the ability to hate on artifacts and enchantments while drawing a card, attached to a 3/3 reach body for just 2 mana (GG devotion), isn’t bad at all. It's a typical maybeboard card. It also synergizes very well with Rhonas because on turn 3, if we have ferocity, we can destroy a 2-mana artifact or enchantment while drawing a card. Surrak, Elusive Hunter: A card recently spoiled for the Tarkir Dragon Storm set. The only downside, in my opinion, is that it has only 1 devotion. Other than that, it’s a good, non-counterable 4/3 trample body that gives every creature we control on the battlefield and on the stack the ability to cycle itself if they become targeted. For me, it completely replaces Steel Leaf Champion. It’s true that we’ll have fewer bodies and less devotion, but a Shaper’s Sanctuary on a solid body for all our creatures.is worth it in my opinion. Green Sun's Zenith - Dryad Arbor: This isn’t exactly a new card, but with the recent unbanning, we can now use it freely. It’s a wild card—on turn 1, it can serve as a mana dork, and in the late game, you can search for the creatures you need. It’s excellent and versatile, in my opinion. Bridgeworks Battle: Not much to discuss here, it’s essentially not a strong card but is practically free as it replaces 4 forests.
Finally, Wastewood Verge: Another recent addition, 4 free lands that from time to time make our Dismember cost less life when we cast it

Here is the discord I am aware of, but I am not active in it https://discord.gg/Kz48Sr7
I also don't think the Arena only energy scythe cat would make it either, hypothetically speaking
