Id go down to 21 land and do something along those lines.
I was actually considering dropping the extra forest (which I put in when I drafted the build with Dungrove Elders) and the Narnam Renegades (Rancor + Deathtouch best combo) for 3 Pelt Collectors, but I wasn't sure if that would lead to too few big things to evolve with.
Regarding Sideboarding: My experience is, that you mainly work on the non-creature side, while the beaters stay the same (because they are your way to win the game).
So you want to ask yourself, which spells don't fit the opponents deck. For example, Dismember Comes out against fast Aggro strategies, to save your life total. Creature removal in General Comes out against non-creature Combo Decks. Aspect and Rancor are cutting candidates whenever you face Control or Midrange Decks with lots of removal. And Scavenging ooze tends to be too slow, when you have to be as fast as possible and graveyard strategies are not a concern (for example Ad Nauseam).
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you. With that, would there be any sideboard changes you recommend to better align with those plans?
And thank you everyone for welcoming me into the community for the best deck in modern
Playet today 4:0 against jund, dredge, hatebears and hardened scales affinity. 12 one drops is our way to go with 4 rancor. First place first time with so many 1 drops, THX Mr. Pelt C...now it feels like a real agro deck
Stubborn Denial - can often counter the boardwipe that would crush you (Terminus!), or key combo bits on combo decks.
It's also surprsingly easy to turn on ferocious with our deck full of high power creatures. 3 denial in the main is what I suggest for those who want to explore the blue splash.
Hmm, there was a fun but not overly consistent deck floating for a while that had a LOT in common with Stompy (E1, Geist, scooze, avatar) was based on these last two, also ran Young Wolf. The dream start was a t1 Cloudfin and then a t2 young wolf then pongify on the wolf, leaving you 3 bodies and 8 power, including 3 flying swinging on t2. Now that we have Pelt Collector I wonder if that deck’s consistency makes it worth re-evaluating.
Saw that deck too. It can have some explosive starting hands.
Report of matches not easy, english is difficult for me, so only short. Unravel the Aether rescued me against a giant Hangarback Walker. Against Jund Rancor are the key, if you start the game. In the past i board them out, because we all say they are bad vs. so much removal, but my win percentage against them growth after using it on the play and 2 on the draw. They need to fetch and shok, so they can die fast if every creatures is a big one. Do it if they tapped out, even if it is after your attack. I killed him with trample of Rancor paired with Vines of Vastwood. Dredge i was lucky to have ooze in opening and relic after sideboard and vs. Hatebear Thalia with first Strike is a problem and Baneslayer Angel so keep your dismember ane watch too for wrath of god, i killed this one too with Rancor and Vines of Vastwood, so the finaly block with his creature dont rescued him.
does anybody know where I can find the thread for the u/g or r/u/g version of this deck with pongify and evolve creatures? I apologize for going off topic but this is the only stompy thread I can find
I want to cut on Dismember for Ghalta or Rhonas? What u guys think or an other creature insted like Grundbreaker or a third tusker?
Ghalta is pure win more, if you can cast it for cheap then you are already ahead. Doesn't actually help you when you are behind.
Rhonas I used to be a big fan. But now feel less so. Good against low removal board stalls like GW value but most midrange/control will just kill everything around him.
Dismember at minimum 2x is just great. He'll even against some bad matchup game 1 you can use on your own creature to benefit

dont do it, dismember is to important! It is the same mistake like so many times bevore. If 30 creatures not enough...2-3 dont change this. You will See often you have 2-3 creatures on board and only 1 big creature of your opponent stops your army and you need an instant to overrun him and not another creature giving him time. If you try it, haste like groundbreaker maybe its worth for a experiment
Just testing for fun a single Molten-tail masticore in the main as a finisher. Requires to have one extra card in hand when cast, so that he does not automatically die next turn. Usually, I'm able to do one 4 direct damage shot with him before he get removed. He's 4 cmc, so only for 22 land versions.
Hi, I've been playing with the deck for some time now and this weekend I'll be going to my lgs's fnm and I was wondering, is damping sphere really a good sb card? I may be wrong but I've been trying it on other decks in modern and they seem to do little to no damage to tron. I even had and episode where I played two blood moons and two damping sphere and tron managed to answer them one by one and then win with O. Stones destroying my board and ugin activations (take into consideration that I wasn't just playing these cards and hoping that they would win me the game, I was applying pressure and using my mana efficiently).
What is the advantage of playing damping sphere? Because I see that almost everyone who posts here have at least one in their sb. Is it because tron usually don't bring artifact hate against us? Is it because it gives us enough time to kill them? Could it cause us more harm than good? Since playing a creature and pumping an attacker now costs more mana now?
I'm just curious to know the reasoning behind your thought process in choosing this card and how it performs.
Thanks in advance.
The good part of having a Damping Sphere is obviously it stops these decks. However, the bad part is you cannot count on Spheres alone. An end of our turn Nature's Claim, Echoing Truth, Abrade, Engineered Explosives, or Oblivion Stone removes it from the board and we are vulnerable. That's why you either need a way to protect them, or have some additional hate cards.
1x Prey Upon: to get rid of their creatures, extra removal helps against them.
We also have really good mainboard answers to Storm in terms of Dryad Militant, Scavenging Ooze, and Dismember. That's why I don't side in any more cards
Dismember at minimum 2x is just great. He'll even against some bad matchup game 1 you can use on your own creature to benefit
This is a really important point. I've won many games against tron in which on my turn 3 I Dismembered my Strangleroot Geist when it was certain that they weren't going to be able to assemble tron or Oblivion Stone in the next 1-2 turns.
A few advices from my latest friendly league matches:
On Game 1, play Dryad Militant on turn 1 if possible, even over Experiment One. This is a meta call because of Dredge, and gives us a chance against an almost unwinnable game 1.
Damping Sphere helps against Ad Nauseam. I am no longer looking for a blue splash to deal with that deck. I run 2x in the sideboard.
I am very happy with the state of Stompy in the current metagame, we have game against every deck apart from Death's Shadow decks, which I haven't seen in the last 6-7 friendly leagues in mtgo. I have faced 2x Grixis DS in one competitive league though, and I can say it's our worst matchup. However, they are in a big decline in the meta, so maybe I was unlucky in that league I guess.
I think it's enough time after the release of Pelt Collector to add him to the primer. What is everyone's consensus about the card? Should he replace Experiment One in the basic list? Or is it more of a Vines of Vastwood/Blossoming Defense situation?
I would love to hear your opinions!

no replace, together!! Since several Years we cry about needing another 1 drop lowering curve to be more agro...now we have it and should replace only?
Part of the rationale for wanting that third one drop was to have reliable ways to double evolve E1 on T2. By replacing creatures that enter the battlefield bigger than 1/1 with another creature that enters as a 1/1 you wind up with a majority of your one drops... not being big enough to evolve your (other) evolvable 1-drops.
That's the problem here. An E1 and two Narnams can be a swinging 3/3 on T2 with 7 power on board. An E1 and two Peltys ... is just a 1/1 swinging on T2 and 3 power on board.

It seems good indeed. I'm on 4 Pelt, 4 Narnam & 4 Militants myself. I like that Pelt grows real big when another guy with Rancor dies.
2 Treetop Village
4 Experiment One
4 Pelt Collector
4 Rancor
4 Dryad Militant
4 Strangleroot Geist
4 Avator of the Resolute
3 Kalonian Tusker
2 Scavenging Ooze
4 Vines of Vastwood
2 Dismember
4 Steel Leaf Champion
3 Damping Sphere
2 Relic of Progenitus
2 Natural State
2 Unravel the Aether
1 Spellskite
1 Pithing Needle
1 Gut Shot
1 Dismember
1 Grafdiggers Cage
1 Ratchet Bomb

Against Tron, I run:
Against Storm, I run:
Against Amulet Titan, I run:
So, my point is even though Damping Sphere is powerful, it cannot win the game alone, it is no Blood Moon. You need a way to protect it or have additional hate cards. If you want to make sure your Spheres stay on the board and if you have an additional use of the card, you might try Heroic Intervention. It has its uses really, in terms of Anger of the Gods, Supreme Verdict, Gigadrowse, Conflagrate, etc.
