So since it seems that a small white splash for Selesnya Charm or Dromoka's Command is on the table I have a small suggestion in Travel Preparations.
Its usable twice per card, fits on theme, investing in white for the second go isn't horrible, works with avatar and e1 both ways if needed and pumps in general.
Welcome to the thread, and congrats on the good finish.
The single dissenter's deliverance looks neat.
You did not run into mana problems with 20 lands?
Thank you!
No, the Manabase feels alright with 20 lands, 6 of them fetches. Going up to 8+ fetches I might consider going up to 21, but so far I consistently hit my land drops til 4 lands on around turn 6, which is all the deck wants.
Of course there are the occasional floods/screws, but I played 19 lands before, and that also wasn't a huge problem. So Yes, for me playing 20 lands works.
I can also recommend the 2 Horizon Canopies (not more), they can win games from time to time.
What is your opinion on Treetop Village? I run a single one so far, cause it can make your mana really awkward sometimes. But it does a ton of work in grindy matchups.
Hmm, my previous version of Stompy had 2 Horizon Canopy in the main too. It's a good land card... of course there are those few games where I had to mull a hand with 2 canopies as land in the opener - but those are rare situations. Unfortunately, already sold all 3 canopies to help buy goyf, blood moon, and some other modern staples for my other modern decks. My current land config is 22 land, 8 of them fetch.
Treetop, this land is useful in my expeerience. It's ability to avoid sorcery speed removal, board wipes, and terminus has helped me in some games.
I'm a 21 land fan with 2 mana dorks. Been stomping for a year. Will be upping my fetch count to 6 soon. Only fetching to trigger revolt (unless I cave in and add w/b removal to the board).
Thanks! I realized that my lgs is jeskai heavy, Is it better to run Shapers' sanctuary instead? Or should I stick with Narnam Renegade
Shaper's Sanctuary is a great Card, but only for your Sideboard. As good it is against Jeskai, you would never play this Mainboard.
Renegade is fine, but only with Fetchlands. In Stompy there is no other way I can think of to consistently trigger Revolt, and without the trigger Renegade is quiet mediocre.
It looks like a really strong card, although I don't know if it's good enough to mainboard. Gains life, destroys something important or just beats, never a dead card.
It is a 3 drop that only provides one green devotion.
It enters the battlefield at 2/1 then gets more counters as a trigger, meaning even if it becomes a 4/3 creature it doesn’t evolve a 2/2 experiment one.
Basically all the problems that Reverent Hunter had.
Interesting card spoiled for the White splash builds Knight of Autumn. Thoughts?
Looks really versatile. I would be using it if I used the white splash, or at least trying it out. Main deck hate for ensnaring bridge, worship, as well as something for Burn. Most splash builds don't really use Aspect of Hydra, so having only one green in the cmc does not matter.
Amicdeep is the main pusher of whitespash stompy here and his most recent deck still had 3 aspects. Most white splashes are for access to instants and sideboard answers - the whitesplash decks are still running as heavy green devotion on their permanents as they always have.
Splashing white definitely has a number of advantages, with the only real disadvantage being the cost of buying the cards needed.
The extra life loss is kind of negated by replacing Dismember with Path to Exile and Dromoka's Command.
I wrote a bit about it in the primer, also describing good and bad card choices.
I am excited...i think a great card is spoilered for people playing without devotion focus. It is great vs. Flying humans, great vs classic affinity, great vs. Burn because comes in early to block http://www.magicspoiler.com/mtg-spoiler/kraul-harpunier/ now we have 8 cards against flyer and are safe from air. 3/2 for 2 mana is ok for attacks to even we cant hit Flyers
Kraul-Harpunier 1G
Creature - Insect Warrior
Reach
Undergrowth - When ~ etb, choose target creature with flying you don't control. ~ gets +X/+0 until eot (X = undergrowth). You may have ~ fight that creature.
3/2
Such a weird removal spell with legs for such a narrow pool of creatures. It kills Affi bodies, Mantis, Delver, Birds... Maybe too weak for the deck but deserves an honorable mention !
PS : source from a german streamer (Twitch), more info in the rumor mill section soon I guess.
I can't think of many situations where this is better than Plummet, Prey Upon or Avatar of the Resolute. I guess it can be some kind of versatile, but it's only really worth the effort if it kills a creature without dying itself.
That would be the case against Ornithopter, Vault Skirge, Souls or Thopter Tokens and maybe Kitesail Freebooter - assumed, there are no +1/+1 Counters one them.
Without the removal, it is just strictly worse than Avatar, quite similar to Garruk's Companion. I prefer playing Kalonian Tusker, because the 3 Toughness can be really important, and the Harpooner (thats what the Name means - native German here ) has no potential to grow by itself.
In a nutshell: Interesting Card, but i wouldn't think it's worth adding.

calonian dont block mantis and human is maybe the best deck and everywhere now. In this meta it is gold to be a Bad match up for humans

Fatal push and assasins trophy will probably solve a lot of problems.
