Why are they "strictly bad" for us? BBE probably won't do much of anything in Jund. The combination of the two might make a RUG midrange deck worth playing, but that's a lot of 4 drops.
JTMS costs 4 and comes down at a time when you're close to winning. It will help them dig for answers, though. You should keep fetches up in order to shuffle out of fate seal locks. I'd almost prefer UW to be playing JTMS than be Gideon emblem tribal.
Hm, that's true. My thought process was that improvements to midrange and control are just bad for us, but taking into account that they both slow those decks down as well probably could work in our favour.
I don't think these will effect us much. Bad matchups remain the same, good matchups remain the same and the 50/50s shouldn't be too different. I agree that if they are tapping out in turn 4 for jtms this is good for us. Bbe can be annoying if they cascade into something like a finks but we can prepare for that.
I have always liked Ensnaring Bridge in a burn sideboard because not many people see it coming. With the result of the last GP, do you guys think Bridge lost its surprise appeal? Or is it too good even if people do see it coming?

So what does unbanning of JTMS mean for burn? and BBE for that matter? I suspect JTMS will lead to more control which means shrine is better, but also means more tron in response to more control. Ultimately do you think this affects us much at all? BBE buffs Jund which is also a good matchup for us
So am I correct that the unbanning of both Jace, the Mind Sculptor and Bloodbraid Elf are just strictly bad for us? Are there any upsides to these unbannings at all for Burn?
I actually think the opposite. Control tapping out for jace on turn 4 is a potential win for us. Also, Not quite sure what's the worst a Braid can do aside from cascading into lifegain...
I don't think Exquisite Firecraft is necessary, but it's not bad. Personally, I'm going to give it a shot over Deflecting Palm because that card has been disappointing for me too often.
With the unbanning of these two cards, the format will be warped in some way or another. I don't know which decks will rise and which decks will fall, but there's going to be some change to Tier 1 and Tier 2. Once the metagame settles with the inclusion of these two cards, there will be different decks Burn needs to look out for. I think most of us (and other modern players) will have to make frequent changes to our sideboards to adjust to a changing metagame.
It's floated as a sideboard card for control, I believe. I'd rather play Exquisite Firecraft, personally.
My thought too, but is it necessary?
I think we'd be wise to sleeve up some molten rain, as well as shrine. Both for the ability to wreck Tron and also because Jund will likely see a resurgence with BBE and a turn 3 molten rain on one of their shocks or cliffs can reaaaaally **** them up.
I like shrine much better than firecraft personally, as it's also really good in the mirror killing them even if they resolve a firewalker.
We're good against Tron. We don't need to do things in consideration with Tron. We just play our game and we'll win most of the time.
Wanna beat Jund? I think GY hate is still your best bet. LoTV can be a pain, get cards out of your hand quickly.
I think BBE is bad for us. With collective Brutality--GBx decks have had more game against us.
Ask yourself--how do you beat burn?
1. Lifegain
2. Fast-clock
3. Hand disruption/counterspells
a 4/3 haste body is nothing to laugh at. When it spits out things like LoTV, Inquisition of Kozilek, LoTV--that messes up our plan. When it spits out a 4/5 tarmogoyf--they've spent 4 mana for 8 power. That's a fast clock.

BBE is a 3/2, not a 4/3
Doesn't change that it's a big clock, but always good to have the right numbers

"What's your plan?" Gideon asked.
"Are you serious?" Chandra replied.
When that haste 3/2 (not 4/3) spits out LotV is precisely the time when we're probably ok with seeing LotV, turn 4 when your hand is almost empty already. I don't think BBE is the end of the world for us at all. Brutality is probably the worst thing to see out of it, but it's not played that much right now and that probably won't change. I'd rather see BBE from them than Kalitas or Huntmaster, personally.
The place where I've liked Molten Rain in the past is Jund. In a meta where Jund and Gx Tron are both highly represented, I'm more open to Molten Rain. It's not necessary for Gx Tron alone, though, just race them and beat them right after they play Karn.
BBE and JTMS will do very little to us directly. All they do is make slower decks better, and slow decks are already strong matchups for us as a general rule. They may shift the metagame in ways that could hurt us, but even that I doubt. I think they'll slow down Modern as a whole, which is great news for Burn. If anything, I predict the deck just got stronger. My advice is to not overcorrect on this one.
I’m wondering if Shard Volley becomes a stronger pick main board now just to speed our clock up a bit more if everything else is slowing down. A two-of may make sense, possibly putting some combination of Lightning Helix and Skullcrack in the sideboard.

It's my belief that every burn deck should play 1-2 Volleys, and it should be considered core unless you're in a high land destruction meta. The payoff compared to the cost is absolutely there. I think there's even an argument for 3, if you want to push it to the limit.
I've been jamming 4 MB Molten Rain on Cockatrice and it's lols against all of the BBE, JTMS, and Tron decks. Guide -> Eidolon -> Molten Rain beats lots of decks, even if Molten Rain is just Stone Rain haha.

Splitting D-Rev and Smash to Smithereens has always been weird to me because you are already putting stomping ground into your deck. If my opp has a troublesome enchantment, I’d want to make sure I can destroy it rather than drawing a smash or only being able to board in 2 D Revs. The split seems better if the goal is to beat affinity for example.
As far as Shard Volley goes, I have a friend that loves jamming the full set, but I usually can only go as high as 1-2.

I am also leaning towards two copies, with compensation via 19 lands, two Searing Blazes (SB) and three Skullcracks (SC) in the main board. Too often I find that SB and SC are not particualrly relevant in the first game.
As many fellows here I feel quite optimistc about the Jace. 4ur mana tap-out is the huge deal for UWx players, and quite a risky move. So, I suppose, they will play Jace at 6+ manas, to have some valid counters in a sleeve.

Splitting is nice when enchantment usage is fairly low, like it has been recently. That may change in the short term with Bogles winning GP Toronto vs a Burn deck running sideboard Leyline, but overall, the only real enchantments I’ve been seeing (online and in-person) are the occasional Runed Halos and Spreading Seas in UW Control. Artifacts are a lot more common, so having that extra point of damage in the more common matchups is nice. I’ve only played Bogles and Ad Nauseum once each online over 100 games or so. It’s nice to have some play against them, but dedicating so much of a sideboard to uncommon matchups just seems wasteful.
I’ve been running straight RW at my local store recently, but I’m probably going to splash green again this week since we’re located near Toronto and a lot of the players went to the GP. I’m expecting some Bogles copy cats this week and more Leylines as a result. My local meta is probably going to suck for a bit; I’m even more happy that I won last week’s event now!

EDIT: Something like Yam Wing Chun’s decklist from the Pro Tour may make sense (although I don’t like his 12:8 split on fetches:lands; I’d probably go 11:9 or even 10:9 instead). I quite like his 2:2 split for Smash to Smithereens and Destructive Revelry as well. I’m actually surprised to not see that more.
