Please reread Naban, Dean of Iteration The card has way more synergy with our deck than what's obvious at first glance. It has both added utility and aggressive capacity.
Though, it might just be too cute. I'll be testing the card soon and report back.
Wow Smaug, I didn't even see that. It does cause CoP and Thalia's lieutenant to trigger a second time! Any other interesting interactions? I played Bant spirits for quite awhile and I really miss the incredible power some of their cards have. If only Humans had something like nebelgast herald....or rattlechains...or geist of saint traft....or selfless spirit...or drogskol captain...or spell queller. Ugh.
She's been good VS Affinity for me. I stole a couple Platings, turning into nice clocks thanks to Vials. In my experience it's too expensive for what it does. At 4 mana, she doesn't win the game, she does kind of the same as Vithian Renegades VS artifacts, and I wish it interacted with enchantments too (Bogles, Prison, Moon, Unlife). The card is okayish and probably fun with Deputy and Resto, but not better than other 4-drops I tested (Venser, Resto, Whirler). A 4-drop that doesn't win the game on the spot, or fix a MU entirely, is not something I want in the deck anyway.

I dislike Reflector Mage in the MU, even though it helps VS Wurmcoil, Breaker and TKS. I side in 4 cards, so I don't have much to side out anyway. My plan is to grow bigger than TKS (or fly over it), and hope they never resolve a bigger dude. I mean, we can still win through a Breaker. Med Mage can stop Wurmcoil if FreeB or D-Sphere / Thalia do their job VS Karn, O-Stone and Ugin.

Do you bring in artifact hate (Vithians)? I don't think it's worth it.
Right now I have 1 Pithing Needle, 1 Gaddock Teeg and 2 Xathrid Necromancer that I can see myself siding in. Needle should be Damping Sphere, but mine are still on their way
Well if ever Torpor Orb becomes a thing again in Tron SBs (and elsewhere), I may bring artifact hate. For now I bring Damping Sphere, Gaddock Teeg and 2x Selfless Spirit. In a sense we have exactly the same things out of our SB !

Naban just doesn't do enough to justify a spot, at least in the stock lists. If yours has a wizard heavy bent, perhaps he's worth it there, but in a standard deck he:
-Causes reflector mage to bounce two things
-Lets reflector mage trigger champion and lieutenant twice
-Lets meddling mage trigger lieutenant twice
That's it. That's not enough to be worth taking a precious 2 drop spot, especially since he's just a vanilla 2/1 that does nothing else without either of those two cards etb'ing.

I agree it might be cute, but it lends itself for more aggressive starts.
The MOCS lists are in and Humans placed five decks in the top 32, including taking both 1st and 2nd. Four of the five performing builds decks ran 2x Restoration Angel in the 75, and the in finals both decks were running both copies mainboard. No decks show any copies of Deputy of Acquittals.
Resto replays the bounced card right away, which seems better with Meddling, Lieutenant, etc. But obviously it is much slower and harder to cast. Others' thoughts? Any commenters here tried this tech?
My thoughts on Resto vs Deputy:
If you bounce a 1drop, you're spending 3 mana vs 4 with Resto. 2drop is at parity and only bouncing a 3drop is more costly. Deputy also triggers your creatures and can be used earlier if you don't need to replay the creature right away.
He's easier to cast, even though we have some white sources. Also, vial on 4 is awkward.
Resto is popular because some pros used it. If a pro appears with Deputy on his list, it will probably be played as much by other ppl.
Saturday I've played a a 59 man tournament with the list that went 2nd on MOCS.
6 Rounds + top 8
2-1 - Storm
2-0 Amulet Titan
2-0 UR with thing in the ice
1-2 Mirror
2-0 4C Saheeli
ID
Top 8:
2-0 Grixis DS
2-0 UW Control
2-0 Grixis DS
Restoration Angel is incredibly usefull and went MVP against spot removal.
The decks is really strong, certainly the best deck in modern now and I'm really affraid of the next Ban announcement.
Congratulations on your result!
Why are you afraid of bans? There are no obviously broken cards or combo's in the deck. Imho it has just pure synergy the same way Affinity has (never seen a single ban afaik), but with some disruption to balance for the lack of removal.
Humans has some great matchups vs "unfair" strategies but has an even to chalanging matchup vs other fair decks and control decks packed to the brim with removal.
To master humans one needs great knowledge of a wide variety of decks.
Edit: I might give resto a spin looks like people moving up on the curve post board,
Can someone elaborate on the use of Aether Vial in those situations?
Affinity existed without artifact lands (or Skullclamp), which were cards on the initial Modern banlist. The deck performed right away and stayed Tier 1 for its whole existence in the format, and never suffered bans in any of its forms (from the moment Modern became a sanctioned format). I think that's how people consider the deck for the most part.
Humans is meant to be a Tier 1 deck, but doesn't feel superior in narrower environments. It's going to be good in GPs and Opens, but not much better than Burn or Affi, just as consistent. I think it's just a rare case of a deck reaching Tier 1 status without the fear of a ban (Burn and Affi being two prime examples).

Sometimes you don't have to set Vial to 4, especially for Resto that you can flash in anyway. If you already have or draw the card, you will do it either to be sured it's not countered, or because you don't have 4 mana to cast it. It happens that you need to topdeck the 4-drop, so you preemptively tick Vial up to 4, otherwise you may miss the opportunity to step ahead in time.

Went 3-1 yesterday. Sole loss was to Affinity. Never have success in that matchup despite how close people claim it is. Saw Kataki+Staticaster+Rec Sage and could not get there g2. Not sure if it's even worth having artifact hate in my SB at this point, could probably use those slots for something else.
Resto seems strong. Going to try it. The one of slots in this deck are weird because they all have very important roles and you can't play all of them. My tech spots have been Malcontents+Whirler Rogue+Venser for the past bit and all three cards have been good for me. Venser would probably be the cut for Resto but having MB outs to random prison cards (Bridge) and time walking people to win through like Supreme Verdict or Scapeshift is powerful.
I feel like Vial on 4 is something you gotta deal with sometimes. When your 4-drops win you the game (which they should if you're reaching to play them) it's really a non-issue.
Someone explain this thread's Deputy of Acquittals fetish with me because that card seems loose. Like when people in this thread were talking about Descendants Path rofl.
