After a bit more testing, I've moved my list much closer to what I run in Legacy and it's been working fairly well so far. I've faced 2 8Rack decks, Geist, Tron, Eldrazi, Death and Taxes, and Delver and I've been quite successful. That's not exactly a tier 1 list of opponents, but I've been really happy with the deck.
I've tried to optimize for Chalice, which has led to a number of people conceding. Echoing Truth has been great, especially against 8Rack and Delver when I have a Chalice out. I went up to 20 lands so that I could cast Chalice reliably (and use Ghost Quarter effectively) and haven't felt flooded yet, but boy is GQ a beating against Eldrazi. I actually think I should remove Dispel from my SB under this build, since Chalice doesn't interact well with it - though I'm not sure if the replacements are +1 Chalice and +1... Tidebinder? I'll run it through the league this weekend and post a recap later.
In terms of power level, we're up there with anybody - this deck is somewhat unique in that it can cover most of its weaknesses. Whether popularity catches up with us is another issue.
Side note - I really haven't been struggling against Infect all that much. It's 50/50 in Game 1, then Chalice of the Void comes in to shut them down. The only matchups among Tiered decks where I genuinely feel like an underdog are Affinity and Elves.

Well to be fair it always depends on individual builds. Wild Defiance Infect for example has advantage over me, others don't. I think we have to consider those kind of cards.
That's fine. Just didn't want to be falling in power because I'm trying to make Merfolk my main deck, even over Tron.

Hi guys, was wondering if you would mind taking a look at my current build. I ran something similar last week based off of Nikachu's pre-ban list, thus the 3 (was 4) tec edges in the board. I really don't want to lose to tron (the BGx in me), so I wanted to main 2 GQ and have some hate in the board. Please let me know what you guys think. Too many brown sources? Maybe?

Yes. He also copies mana cost. So Phimage copying a LoA would have a mana cost of UU

Back for another tournament report! So I was going to trade the aquariam for Ad Nauseam but nobody had the parts, so I decided before I started selling the deck and trading it, I should start seeing if the meta adjusted to be all affinity as proposed. I based it off of how I did at this FNM as its a very spike place with a very balanced and accurate metagame.
There were 47 people there today for modern. 6 rounds. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/09-12-15-OqN-merfolk/ I decided to go 8 seas as I felt the format is becoming a lot of greed and its best to punish them. I cut a harbinger and a snag as they are worse sans twin in the format but still good.
Round 1: BW Tokens
This was a super nice guy! Game 1, 4 seas effects lock him out. Game 2, islandwalk gets there easily. Not much to say about this its a textbook matchup.
In: the counter suite (minus Unified Will) Out 4 Vial 1 MoW
2-0 games 1-0 Match
Match 2: Living End
Game 1 pressure and locking him out of red getd there. Game 2, I kept a hand of 3 counters and cursecatcher and thought it was unlosable. He is about to die and goes for it I counter it and his richochet trap. At this point he has one card in hand after he goes for it a second time with 2 mana up. He pays for my sacrificed cursecatcher and I spell pierce. His last card in hand was a simian spirit guide to pay for the pact. STUPID MONKEY! He hardcasted things for the win game 2. To note, he beast withined my seas attempt which won him the game. Game 3, I drew 0 counters and lost.
In:Counter Suite 2 Relics out 4 vials 3 Vapor Snag 1 MoW
1-1 3-2 games
Match 3 Naya Zoo
Game 1, I let him get me to 1, and I master of Waves for 5 and stonewall him untill I draw a seas for my lord for the win.
Game 2 was glorious. I had in hand a mutavault 3 islands a MoW and 3 Seas. I seas him out of the game while pecking a mutavault. He plays a basic forest into a choke and locks himself out of the game while I ping him for 4 with the lands and mutavaults I was drawing and my silvergill in play.
5-2 Games 2-1 Match
Match 4: UR Faeries
This is a good friend of mine who was trying out something to compensate for his ex twin deck. It was super good actually. Game 1, his scion of oonas into 3 spellstutter sprites get me. Game 2, I Spell Pierced his shackles while he had an EE out for 2. I pecked with a mutavault a silvergill and cursecatcher the entire game going under the EE to win. Game 3 he gets stuck on 2 lands.
In: 2 Dismembers the counter suite minus Unified Will 2 Monestary Siege Out: the 8 Seas
7-3 Games 3-1 Match
Match 5; Jund
This was super easy! Game 1 Seas on the red gets there. Game 2, he drew multiple damnations and got there. Game 3, monestary siege into 5 lords and a seas get there. 8 seas makes the deck so reliable.
Game 1 he gets run over by a big MoW swinging through his goyf.
Game 2 was by far the craziest game I have ever played in my 3 years of competitive MTG. I mulliganed to 5 and kept a hand of vapor snag lord lord island mutavault. I started drawing seas and he lands an ashiok. The ashiok steals my lords while Im not overcommitting but am spewing pressure. He wraths SIX times before getting there. The game took 30 minutes and we had a huge crowd. Best part was with my monestary siege on dragons and my seas MoW was amazing. I played it and he drew the snapcaster to snap languish back. I STILL got him to 1 life. This shows how good of a matchup this is and he told me that too. I enjoy this matchup.
Game 3 5 Seas will do it against a 3 color deck. Just saying.
In: 2 Monestary Siege 2 Relic out: 4 Vials (the deck functions similar to jund so I decided to board as such).
Overall got 35 store credit and decided that I overreacted and was totally wrong on the meta. There was 1 affinity player who got 3rd (I got 4th) so I got lucky. I am keeping my deck for sure and will build Ad Nauseam slowly with the winnings Im getting with rhe deck. At every tournament I have been to for 5 weeks in a row, I have top 4ed. This allows me to save for whatever I want to build and Ad Nauseam is going to be my 2nd deck but Im so happy that this deck is still kicking.
I wouldnt change a thing in my 75. Everything was MVP at one point seemingly and I love the extra punishment of greed. Especially since the Eldrazi deck got 1st!
Don't sell decks mate, you'll usually regret it. Ad Nauseam is a sweet deck and changing things up from time to time makes you a better player. Build it slow and steady.

Totally agree I really enjoy piloting the deck and assuming I can top consistently which history repeats itself or even if I do well at one GP side event or PTQ I can build the deck. Its the perfect 2nd deck though so I will build it
I do think 8 seas is better in the meta though. Greed galore and less blue surprisingly. I cant believe the meta didnt change much.
Also, I noticed a ton of maindeck blood moon, leaving me to believe playing a bunch of basics isnt catching up to me surprisngly. I saw a Merfolk player lose a match to blood moon locking him out of double blue.
General style questions
Would you play 8 seas over 4 seas?
I don't want to put words into others mouths, so i will post my own answers a few hours later!
cya CoBTyrannon
Looks like no one wants to take the time or simply doesn't care about rating some fringe or close to playable cards.
I do care and i’m quite bored at the moment, so here are my thoughts, despite being a bit late.
Single cards:
How do you rate Relic of Progenitus?
Every Combodeck except Scapeshift is now a graveyard-deck. In Addition to that we have Flipjayce/Snappy/Tasigur in Grixis Control and Goyf/KCommand/Tasigur in other decks.
For me, Relic got a huge boost! I'm almost considering playing it maindeck again. Even against the few matchups it doesn't do anything it still cantrips.
I will test going from 2 to 3!
How do you rate Kira, Great Glass-spinner?
She lost slightly in Power, but Spellskite lost even more Power. I was runnng with 3 and go down to 2 for now. If however there wil be a new Jeskai-tempodeck(and i strongly think that) i might go back to 3.
How do you rate Vapor Snag?
I rate it the same as before, but will swap one Dismember to one Snag, because i anticipate more Aggro within the next weeks and the 4 life might be important. Additionally it allows me to save a creature from removal. This is nothing new, but i suspect keeping the lordnumbers high will be more important now. With all those Aggrodecks and all the Anger of the Gods type effects, i expect to face, i want my creatures as big as possible.
How do you rate Surgical Extraction?
This card might find a way in my new sideboard. I tested it several times before and always had good results with it. But now that i expect more fringe Combodecks as well as Tron this card might make the cut. It also hits random 4-ofs that might kill us eventually. Ensnaring Bridge or Scapeshift for example ;).
How do you rate Vendilion Clique?
This one is on my radar but heavily depends on how the future will develope. With Twin gone i expect a new Controldeck to come up. More likely than not it will contain Supreme Verdict.
Vendilion Clique is my secret tech against it. Played on Turn 3 it can scout my opponents hand and shuffle the Verdict away in addition to providing a 3power threat on the board. 3 Power is enough to not overextend with more creatures. Good against Control in general, i would only play Clique if boardwipes become a common occurance.
How do you rate Pithing Needle or Phyrexian Revoker?
Affinity, Tron and Planeswalker overall make me want to have that card. As always we have the alternative of playing Phyrexian Revoker. One of them can actually attack, the other one is harder to get rid of. One can target lands but don't prohibits managenerating abilities, the other can't target lands but does prohibit manaabilities.
In the end we have to see what is more important. My choice will be dependant on how the meta reacts to the rise of Aggrodecks. Will they play more pointremoval or will they play more sweepers?
How do you rate Grafdigger's Cage?
An alternative to Relic, it shuts off pretty much all graveyarddecks but also hits Chord. Sadly Goyf, Delve and Grim Lavamancer keep on going.
How do you rate Echoing Truth?
I do think Lantern Control will be stronger now, but somehow despite this being a good deck, people just don't want to learn this deck. This deck and BW Tokens would be my sole reason to play this card. Right now i don't see enough decks that make me want to spend a sideboardslot for them.
How do you rate Triton Tactics?
If i am right with a rise of Aggrodecks, this card will have a huge boardimpact. Aside from simply saving one of my guys, it can also turn a chumpblock into a huge Temposwing. The text that gets overseen a lot is the "doesn't untap next untapstep" ability. Against Aggrodecks like Zoo, Burn and even Affinity this more likely than not gives us another turn without losing our creatures.
Should it catch on, we should cut it again, but right now i think we can expect huge blowouts, because nobody will se it coming.
How do you rate Mizzium Skin?
Sometimes when you play vaporsnag to save a creature you lose too much of a clock. the need to replay it and then wait for the summoning sickness to fall of is just too much of a tempoloss. There is also the situation when you have two lords and have to decide whether to attack into 2 open mana or not. Usually the answer is quite uncertain. Mizzium Skin however lets you either save a guy at instantspeed or it allows you to cast it with overload before a very risky attack forcing your opponent to react now or never. No risk of a blowout!
I suggested Tritontactics against Aggrodecks and Mizzium Skin will be my fringe suggestion for Controldecks if there will be some. Kira and Mizzium Skin make a perfect bundle
How do you rate Sower of Temptation and Threads of Disloyalty?
Sowers advantage is its use against Tron and big Eldrazi, for everything else, Threads make a better fit.
Once again it depends on what you need. Aggro won't bother with disenchanting Threats, so taking their guy and trade with another one will help us immensely. Sower however might keep a Wurmcoil/Titan or any *****ty Eldrazi in check. He can even be Vialed in.
How do you rate Sea Gate Wreckage?
I think this card is a good oneoff for looong matchups, but it would be a 21 land. No way i would go down on blue sources and/or Mutavaults. IF there won't be a blue Controldeck with countermagic, i might change Cavern into this one. But i doubt that.
There is however the possibility of a new form of Merfolk. A heavy tempobased build, with cards like Send to sleep, Exhaustion, Gigadrowse, Vapor Snag, Boomerang etc.. Playing cheap spells to keep things going but accepting carddisadvantage along the way might be enabled by that land as a 4of.
I tested this kind of deck with Day`s Undoing and it didn't work, but maybe this land can change that.
How do you rate Gut shot?
After the Delver/TreasureCruise aera we might have once again a very reasonable time to have Gut shot in our Sideboards. Without any tempoloss we can kill some elves, Artifactcreatures, Tokens, and of course some of the strongest cards in modern. All the infect creatures, the Nexi manlands, confidant, Delver/Pyromancer, Lavamancer, LILIANA of the veil(post sacc).
Single Card Fazit:
The old options still exist, and they still have their weaknesses. There was a reason they did not see play. But does this reason still exist? In my Oppinion, the future might change in their favour. And to make that clear, i'm not talking about 4ofs here. We are talking about playing 1-2 of said cards to supplement the strategy we play against the new Meta.
Out of said cards the only card i'm quite sure about is Relic! Gutshot is a close second. Everything else is unlikely but possible.
What are the best Counters right now?
How do you rate Chalice of the Void?
Clearly better now. Most decks in the Top tiers go bonkers in the cmc1 slot
How do you rate Spell Pierce?
Less good now. Since with Twin a very expensive card got removed, there aren’t many cards left that get countered a lot with Pierce. Yes, it stops them early but they get pretty useless fast.
How do you rate Unified Will?
It should be better now than ever with Tron on the rise. With all the Aggrodecks however it gets used pretty much only against Tron and creatureless Combo. It’s very limited.
How do you rate Negate?
Less good then before. The aggrodecks got faster, and we might have to run more efficient spells. Additionally, the matchups we want negate also play pretty dangerous creatures as well. This might make Negate worse than Unified will.
How do you rate Dispel?
For me, this card is more important than ever. The Aggrolists are all(except Affinity) packed with Instants. The Combolists are too. Midrange however cut back on them.
How do you rate Remand?
Remand isn’t good against the aggressive decks, it is however quite effective against Combo and Control. I recommend using it only if you play a very aggressive list, in which the one extra turn you get can end the game.
How do you rate Spell Snare?
With all those Aggrodecks i think this card is as good as it can be. It has targets against pretty much every deck and usually people can’t afford playing around it. There is just one Problem. Chalice of the Void and Snare are the biggest enemies, they just don’t want to fit into the same sideboardplan despite fitting against the same decks. I feel its pretty much one OR the other. Up to now, chalice was the better card for me.
How do you rate Disdainful Stroke?
I was testing that card preban and it just wasn’t good enough, because against Twin it didn’t counter anything but the Twin. Post Twin ban the targets added up. Tron and Eldrazi always were good targets, despite their on cast triggers, but there is just nothing against them. But also Languish, Damnation and Wrath of God, the “non Verdict”-Sweepers got added. I’m encountering more and more of them at the moment. We also have AdNauseam, Kikidecks and Scapeshift as well as all the Delvecards as potential targets.
All of them existed before, but now they actually matter and don’t get overshadowed by Twin.
Strokes biggest Problem is Anger of the Gods, Supreme Verdict and the Prisoncards. Especially the Prisoncards are a problem if we chose Stroke over Negate.
Soo, what do i suggest overall?
I will add a Dispel to my side and remove a negate. I will also try out a Disdainful Stroke for a Spellpierce. I will watch closely how Pierce and Remand will perform in the next few weeks. I will also revisit the Shoal and think about it for a while, because it dodges Chalice!
Single cards that might(not have to) battle for the same slots and therefore should be compared to some degree.
How do you rate Annul and Steel Sabotage?
In my personal Meta, Affinity is underrepresented and therefore i will ignore the matchup. This also means i don’t care about those cards. I think however that Steelsabotage overtook annul after Twin got banned. The ability to bounce a Wurmcoil or Ensnaring bridge is worth more than countering an enchantment.
What do you prefer, Ghost Quarter, Tectonic Edge or a Mix of them?
I still prefer TecEdge over Ghost Quarter. I meet a lot of Control at the moment and i expect Scapeshift to rise in popularity because their Tronmatchup is favourable. I don’t want them to hit their lands “eventually” so i prefer Tecedge. The danger of getting the 3land Tron is something i just have to risk then. I do think however that at the moment it wouldn’t be wrong to run up to 6 of them, but as i said i would favour Tec edge over Ghostquarter. Additionally i believe those lands are not enough anymore, we need a way to get rid of the lands, because Tron suits up against all the landdestruction. They run Crucibles now to get their killed lands back. Since we have problems getting rid of artifacts we need a plan for that. Either we don’t even try, don’t let crucible resolve or we remove the lands from the graveyard.
How do you rate Harbinger of the Tides and Tidebinder Mage?
I hate them both, harbinger is by far better in the early turns, but topdecked Tidebinder wins out. I think it depends on how many slots you want to give them. The more you run, the better i think Harbinger gets. If you only run two slots, then i suggest gong for Tidebinder because the propability of having them in the early turns is quite low.
How do you rate Wake Thrasher,Master of Waves and Merrow Reejerey?
As a finisher i still think MoW is by far the best card. I don’t care if Twin is gone, since most aggrodecks still play red.
It’s getting a lot closer in the cmc3 slot!
Rejeerey, on paper, should help us outgrow the aggrocreatures and allow us to keep some mana untapped at the same time. Sadly, this is rarely the case, it just costs too much. It’s still the worst staple in our deck and if you chose to play without Harbingers, their value goes down even more. Phantasmal Image however is a reason to add them, but could also be the reason why it is ok now to cut Rejeerey.
Wakethrasher usually never makes the cut. I am however meeting a lot of Controldecks right now and this is when Wakethrasher shines. He gets killed by every removalspell, but it also makes it easy to not overextend. A single Wakethrasher is enough pressure and we don’t have to overextend at all.
Additionally the Combodecks we face at the moment are more or less creatureless and without blockers or the need to block, wakethrasher is a beast! It reduces my clock by an entire turn compared to a rejeerey curve, especially if i’m worried about a sweeper.
Have a nice day!
I won't respond to every card mentioned but I'll give some of my thoughts on a few of them. In regards to 8 seas vs. 4 seas I think if you have a well established meta where 8 seas would benefit then go for it. I play mainly online at the moment and play a lot of random decks (except for maya burn) so there isn't a huge reason for me to play the additional 4 island effects. Even against Tron I think merfolk can out race it with a single spreading seas.
For counterspells, I am currently running two spell pierce in the main board. I see a lot of burn online and it's pretty helpful for that. In the sideboard I run two chalice of the void and they are pretty amazing. I like unified will a lot and may even consider adding in another and dropping negate for my sideboard.
I'm running two vapor snags main deck and they have been reasonable. I don't like threads of disloyalty especially if jund is out of the picture and other midrange decks.
For creatures. I run three marrow reejery main and usually they are the first to come out game two. A lot of the times they are too slow. I've cut down to three harbinger of the tides instead of 4 which hasn't been an issue.
So guys, what cards from Oath of the Gatewatch do you think we can use? (:
Already picked up 3 (4th pending) Warping Wail and am trying to get some Matter Reshapers (Think I read a post about someone trying these over MoW to be more aggressive or something?)
Anyway, what are your thoughts?

Modern UMerfolkU Legacy UFishU "I Want To Believe"
I've been trying a singleton sea gate wreckage, but it hasn't show up enough for anything to be conclusive.
As for the big long list of cards, here's my thoughts:
Relic is a lot worse now. I have stopped playing them, and have yet to miss it. Also a slight nonbo with chalice, but excluding storm, they're usually independant.
Kira is in the same boat here. I like sygg a lot more here, if one plays white. I've also cut kira from mono-u completely, something I haven't done since I started playing fish.
Vapor snag is still fine. I like it better than dismember right now.
I would not play surgical extraction. The only real use it serves for us is gq a tron land > surgical it, but I feel 8-seas is a better mana denial plan.
I like clique a lot here too. Bit of an issue with images too, lowering the merfolk count, but while I am not currently playing any cliques, I might toss a pair in the side.
Pithing needle is alright. I feel its used in similar matchups to chalice (tron, infect,) but needle is narrower. If you can't afford chalices though, needle might be fine.
I would not play grafdigger's cage. I don't really see the need for it at the moment.
Echoing truth is still fine. Bridge, gq, worship, etc all might see more play, and at the very least, truth does answer anything we need it to. Also getting around chalice could be useful.
Both triton tactics and mizzium skins feel like a worse version than just playing kira, and I'm not even playing kira.
Sower seems good, but too slow for us, in my mind. She also dies to all the clasm effects running around, and can't be pumped by fish.
Threads is probably too small.
See top for wreckage.
Chalice feels fantastic right now. It can get in the way of some of our cards, but not enough to greatly bother me.
Pierce also feels very strong. Excepting scapeshift, most decks are likely going to be using up most of their mana each turn. (Even against scapeshift, pierce can shut down some of the earlier things)
Unified will feels no longer maindeckable whatsoever, but likely very fine in the side.
Same deal with negate.
I would not even consider playing dispel over negate/will/pierce anymore. Even previously it was questionable, but now I don't think its really an option.
Remand is alright, but feels worse than will/negate.
Spell snare is fine if you see a lot of the smaller decks, and less of the big ones. Not impactful enough to sideboard though.
With both twin and bloom gone, unless something new pops up, steel sabatoge is a lot better than annul.
Especially with 8seas looking more enticing, tectonic edge seems fine. However, I'm currently playing ghost quarter, but I'm not convinced its better (not convinced its worse, either).
I feel harbinger is still good. Picking up eldrazi doesn't feel great, but it takes damage off the table, and it can clear away blockers. I'm currently playing more spell pierce, which means I don't want to cut harbingers.
Tidebinders feel like an auto 4-of in the 75. I've got a set sideboarded, but I can see the appeal of them mainboard, even though I would never do it. (meta too diverse)
Wake thrasher still feels bad to me. Master of waves feels a lot worse. Reejerey feels a lot better.
Currently playing 8-sea. It feels fine to me. Also only running 26-27 creatures (haven't decided on the exact list), and my sideboard has a lot of creatures in it. If I didn't play 8-seas, most of these creatures would be mainboard.
For those who have playing 8-seas longer than I, how often do you find yourself siding out some (or all) of you seas?
I feel I end up siding out atleast 2 seas every game.
Okay, so I just realized that IF Stoneforge is unbanned, we would actually play her. UW Merfolk would finally be a thing. Vial her in at end of turn, grab swords or batterskull. Activate her easily when we untap.
I'm thinking of trying out 19 land version of the deck. I don't know if I will struggle with my land drops or not, but I guess with at least 8 cards letting me draw I should get 4 by turn 4. Is everyone going 19 lands?

If you're planning on playing sea gate I think you have to add more waste making symbols, not take away. I think the only way to do that is add some number of painlands for islands.
I honestly don't think warping the mana base is worth the one of sea gate.
I'm thinking of trying out 19 land version of the deck. I don't know if I will struggle with my land drops or not, but I guess with at least 8 cards letting me draw I should get 4 by turn 4. Is everyone going 19 lands?
Not everyone is, but it certainly seems to be a valid option. In my case, I'm packing 2 Ghost Quarter, so I'm sticking to 20 so that I can keep my U source count respectable.

I somewhat agree on Relic of Progenitus being less necessary with Eldrazi Processors scaring all of the graveyard-based decks into hiding, but it's still handy to have against the likes of BGX and Grixis, which will always be around, so I'll keep it for now.
Kira, Great Glass-Spinner is gone from my 75 as well. It just doesn't strike me as terribly necessary in this meta, and the 1UU mana cost that conflicts with a Merfolk Cavern of Souls will always be a bit awkward.
Vapor Snag has served me well. I never bought into the Dismember hype, and I do even less with linear aggro and Eldrazi/Tron as well positioned as they seem to be.
Surgical Extraction doesn't strike me as a card we're all that well-positioned to use. We don't have targeted discard or tons of removal, so we're somewhat at our opponent's mercy regarding cards actually hitting the graveyard. I'm not feeling it.
Vendilion Clique is probably more potent than Kira in this metagame, but the awkwardness of casting it still keeps me away.
Pithing Needle may be worth exploring, but I can't really think of a card that I would need to bury with it that I can't shut down some other way. It does have being cheap going for it, but it's also removable. I need to see a bit more data on it.
Grafdigger's Cage would be something we would reach for if Chord of Calling/Collected Company decks (like Elves and Kiki-Chord) were taking over the format along with reanimator (note that it doesn't work on Living End, though). Since reanimator is getting shut down by Eldrazi and Elves and Kiki-Chord are both on the fringe side, I don't really feel like it's necessary.
Mizzium Skin interests me a fair bit more than Triton Tactics does, namely because it blanks Abrupt Decay, Path to Exile, and Terminate in addition to burn spells. However, it's so much narrower than a counterspell. It remains to be seen whether fast combo is still around in force, but if it is, I think I stick to the likes of Dispel.
Threads of Disloyalty could be interesting, though its 1UU cost and drawing a blank against everything in Eldrazi or Tron are real flaws. Could be worth a 1-of sideboard spot, though.
Sea Gate Wreckage is too C-intensive for us, in my opinion. Plus we're not a midrange deck - we shouldn't be actively game-planning for attrition matches any more than what we currently are.
Chalice of the Void is a card I currently swear by. I've been sideboarding it in a ton, to very good effect.
Spell Pierce is on trial for me right now, but I expect that I'll stick to it. Stuffing removal spells and catching combo decks with their pants down is just too good to pass up.
Unified Will was maindeckable? I never considered it as such. Rock-solid in the sidebaord, but never a mainboard sort of card.
Dispel is still in my sideboard, but if I keep siding in Chalice of the Void at the rate I currently am, I might have to cut it in favor of Unified Will in order to minimize conflict within my sideboard.
Spell Snare is too narrow if you ask me. Our mainboard counterspell suite isn't deep enough to support it.
Steel Sabotage is only worth considering as a budget/availability replacement for Hurkyl's Recall, unless your meta is truly infested with the Robots and you need copies 5-6.
Harbinger of the Tides has actually pulled its weight very well against the Eldrazi. It gets around Reality Smasher's pseudo-hexproof, and nets you card advantage when you make them pick up a Thought-Knot Seer (bonus points if you can cast your card before they recast the Seer). Even picking up the likes of Oblivion Sower isn't all bad (if they take an Island, we're unblockable). Overall, it stays a 4-of in my view.
Tidebinder Mage has been a 4-of in my 75 for quite some time now, and it's served me very well. Nothing has happened that would make me consider changing that.
Wake Thrasher is just a bad card in my opinion, honestly. The game has passed it by.
Master of Waves' stock has taken a mild hit, but nothing too major. I could see myself perhaps not running 4 anymore, but I'll still want them in the deck.
Merrow Reejerey does look better. I'm packing my 4 and I'll keep doing so.
In my experience running 8-Seas, I've only sided out Sea's Claim against the likes of WU Control, Grixis Midrange/Control, and URX Twin, and even then I sided in Tectonic Edge as a replacement. I enjoy the mana-denial plan when I'm on that style of deck.

That's fine. Just didn't want to be falling in power because I'm trying to make Merfolk my main deck, even over Tron.

He copys mana cost also? I mean, if I copy Lord of Atlantis with a Phimage, how many U devotion do I have on board for MoW?
Yes. He also copies mana cost. So Phimage copying a LoA would have a mana cost of UU

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/09-12-15-OqN-merfolk/ I decided to go 8 seas as I felt the format is becoming a lot of greed and its best to punish them.
In: 2 Relic 2 Monestary Siege 1 TidebinderOut: 4 Vials 1 Vapor Snag
Round 6: Sultai

I can a test to this...
Just my 2 cents
Already picked up 3 (4th pending) Warping Wail and am trying to get some Matter Reshapers (Think I read a post about someone trying these over MoW to be more aggressive or something?)
Anyway, what are your thoughts?

"I Want To Believe"

Not everyone is, but it certainly seems to be a valid option. In my case, I'm packing 2 Ghost Quarter, so I'm sticking to 20 so that I can keep my U source count respectable.
