I will make Venser great again! Some of it stems from the fact that MoW is sort of at a low despite being very good anyway.

I'm serious though, I'm testing him in the near future. I'm just starting to think of all sorts of interactions across the meta I could use Venser for that I couldn't in the past. It's like when I realized when Clique was suddenly good again.
Yeah, I'm going to have to see this in action to shed my skepticism. Because I am very, very skeptical. Clique made sense because of its 3/1 flying body, and that incorporating it was basically identical to doing so for Kira. Venser is climbing higher in the curve, which is problematic.
Sower of Temptation. It's on the expensive side, but it's not terrible. I think I prefer Threads right now, though. Glad to see that bit of tech is working for people.
What do you think about Reality shift as removal? used if before vs jeskai and it exiled mantis rider and manifested a jeskai charm which is nice
I like that card a lot but I think that it can have downsides against us. The best removal for us in the long run, as least for now, is Dismember. Cheap 1 mana removal (minus the 4 life). I've even thought about running Pongify and Rapid Hybridization as answers to problematic threats.
There is a reason why Pongify, RH and Reality Shift are extremely cheap, blue, instants, creature destroyers: their drawback is too much.
Rapid had some success because of context, Blue Devotion played 4 Tidebinders, 4 Frostburn Weird in the main, to contain the token and it killed biggest offenders at the time: Master of Waves and Pack Rat.
Reality Shift didn't saw play anywhere, even limited.
The token is also the reason why Swan Song never did anything for Merfolk decks, in both formats, even though it is cheap and versatile.
The cards are exciting in theory, not in my deck.
At 2 mana ET is definitely preferable to Reality Shift. I won't be quite so quick to dismiss Pognify; the 3/3 body isn't a huge deal to me and significantly less troublesome than the 2/2 flying token created by Swan Song.
And c'mon, we know wotc does not want counterspells in magic. Other forms of control such as hand destruction and removal are evidently ok, but counters? Nope.

Pognify and Rapid Hybridization are quite good cards for us because they both green creatures that can turn on Tidebinder Mage for value. Another this is that if have islandwalk assembled with our lords, those 3/3 green creatures are really just nothing. Dismember help us quicker but Pognify and Rapid Hybridization doesn't hurt us immediately and we have answers to that.
Could someone who has played magic in the past ten years (unlike me) let me know why Cold-eyed Selkie isn't in any of our decks?
Of course it's fragile at 1/1, but for 3 mana it isn't crazy costed, and if you get it to swing it seems like game's over with all those extra cards.
It has the islandwalk built in, so one spreading seas is all we need. Is is just win more?
I think 2 of them could work, maybe shaving one Reejerey and one Dismember or something like that. They would probably be sided out in several matches, but I thought I'd ask.
No one runs out of gas with the deck? It certainly seems efficient card drawing, especially if vialed in to avoid sorcery-speed removal.
Because it's expensive and weak on its own. 3 is an absurd price tag for a 1/1 that doesn't pump the team or have some sort of disruptive effect.. It also relies on connecting to draw its cards, which is a dicey proposition.
Can anyone tell me what the plan is for esper comtrol/any control deck. It seems like everything I do just doesn't mean anything because they have removal for it.

don't overextend into a sweeper, take your time and try to play through your vial on your opponents turn
value your mutavaults
side in counterspells, relics, and tectonic edges
take out spreading seas and an island or 2 (you will get pathed), reejerey is also a reasonable cut.
beware of the "snapcaster, path, block" blowout your opponent is looking for.

I'm probably a bigger fan of cold-eyed selkie than anybody else here... but it's incredibly fragile. I tried running it with 1-3 Sea's Claim main to make sure Islandwalk was always enabled (plus land screw). I tried with Mimic as another 2 drop lord that allowed Selkie to enter play with an additional counter. The games where it stuck the card draw was very relevant and lead to some blowouts, but overall it just didn't do what I wanted it to do. When we're the aggro deck it's a bit slow. When we're the control deck... what are you siding out?
