do you know a way to beat Jeskai combo decks with infect ? Is nature's claim enough to beat them or do you also need twisted image MD ?
Thanks, I never played against this deck in mtgo or with my team, and I want to be sure to beat it during Gp madrid in one month.
From my testing:
Race them. You're often as fast as they are, and they either lose mana dorks or risk losing the game if they fail to block. Be thankful nobody runs Assault // Battery in the Wishboard--that card would have saved my butt against my BUG Infect testing list, but I think it's not worth a slot in an open meta.
They'll probably board in Swan Song and creature removal, so board accordingly. Nature's Claim is a great start.
I wouldn't maindeck Twisted Image in Infect--it needs targets, and it sometimes lowers the power of your pumped Infect dudes if you have nothing else to target. It's a blowout against Spellskite, but that tends to be a 1-2-of maindeck at best.

if you're looking to beat the glittering wish ascendency deck....infect isn't it.
they start to go off on turn 2, infect can win turn 2 uninterrupted but it's few and far between.
the people that do it constantly should probably be looked at closely since it probably involves cheating.
but jeskai ascendency combo can be shut the **** down with UWR control and you working on tightning your play.
it's just like UR storm shut down the engine (ie mana leak the past in flames) and they're pretty much ****ed.
in this case it's wiping the board, or countering their ascendancy.
the answer on how to beat deck X, is learn how to play the deck
then work on your play style, alot of homework
and then picking up control
Should I buy this deck or can I get a better version for the same cost or cheaper? If I do buy it what changes should I make first without spending too much? (Besides land base because land base is quite straightforward) The sideboard looks a mess to me.
If you are looking at U/G infect, budget is not the place to be. If you are looking at budget infect, I would first convert the deck into a mono green shell.
It's difficult to tell whether or not you should purchase this deck, without knowing what the seller wants for it. I wouldn't give more than $10 at most for it. I'd give that much only because of the rancor, blighted agent, mutagenic growth, and apostles blessing. Those are the only cards other than a couple basic lands that you'll be keeping. Out of it.
It's never been a very popular deck and the amount of play it's seeing has dropped even more than usual I think. Plus the meta is not very kind to it at the moment, so much Delver and Burn running around
I really want to keep playing infect, since it's my only modern deck at the moment, but I need a way to shore up the bad Delver and Burn matchups. Would a white splash be an idea (Mark of Asylum, Circle of Protection: Red) or something else? Black for MAINboard Phyrexian Crusaders?
Some cuts I'm definitely going to make: 2 Viridian Corrupters from my main -> Hopefully finding a 2nd Spellskite sometime soon and maybe a Dryad Arbor (even though I'm not too sure it's great at the moment, except as surprise ground blocker...not much G/B over here).
Eidolon of the Great Revel and now Treasure Cruise have certainly had a big impact on Modern and made things harder for us. A positive though, is it means less Rock/Jund/Junk in the format, which I can't say I am upset about.
More Spellskite from the side will definitely help against burn, and I like running Marrow Shards in the side for the UR aggro match-up, which quite often wipes most of their board. Necropede is another possibility, that is good against aggro/burn.
I have always wanted to see a sideboard plan with Mark of Asylum in it. It seems viable with just the addition of a single Temple Garden, in a deck running 8 fetches and Noble Hierarch. On that plan you could even consider Priests of Norn which is out of burn range and even has vigilance. Turn 1 Hierarch into turn 2 Priests seems reasonable against burn. It is kind of a similar idea to Phyrexian Crusader but with a much better mana cost/color, especially if you are running Noble Hierarch.
On that topic, I have currently gone back to trying to make main deck Phyrexian Crusader work in GB. The main issue has always been supporting the BB for Crusader, while having enough G, which is why main deck Crusader doesn't work well in BUG. Also Apostle's Blessing can't target Crusader, which is annoying, so I am running Ranger's Guile in its place to help support Vines of Vastwood. For getting past blockers I am using 2 Predator's Strike and 4 Rancor, along with the flying from Plague Stinger and Inkmoth Nexus. There is something very cool about suiting up a Phyrexian Crusader with a Rancor. If you are an Infect player and haven't tried it, I highly recommend it
If you are just running Phyrexian Crusader from the side as a 2 of or something, then it should be ok in BUG. As a full 4 of main deck, 3 colors tend to struggle, especially with 4 Inkmoth Nexus in the mana base.
... Might of Old Krosa (Oh I hate the card with a passion)
Oh yes I agree, which is why I have been running Giant Growth instead for a long time. Always negating Lightning Bolt and being able to cast it for full value after blocks, just seems better to me. I will never win that argument though lol.
Hi, I'm playing infect for 2 months now, testing for GP Madrid, both in mtgo and irl.
I played in a GP Trial last sunday, and went 7-1, I had the chance to win the 2 byes for GP Madrid.
The only round I lost was to Scapeshift, but I met him again in semifinals and was able to win.
I played against 3 affinity, 1 burn, 1 MonoU Tron, 1 UWR Control, 2 Scapeshift
So the deck is really good, I added a Distortion Strike and an Apostle Blessing 2 weeks ago, it was really a good idea, considering how much chump blockers Affinity gets.
You can blame Tom 'The Boss' Ross for Viridian Corrupter lol. It does kill Spellskite, Birthing Pod and everything in Affinity, and it can be saved from Lightning Bolt with Mutagenic Growth. It really is a meta call and it certainly paid off for 'The Boss'. In the current meta, I think Infect is still searching for the optimal build, there is no doubt it is struggling against Burn and UR aggro.
It really is hard finding an optimal build but it also depends very much so on your style of infect I think. You can go super hard and try to win as fast as possible or there's the more defensive chip shot type of play.
How about this card that I don't see people talking about? Avoid Fate. It's creature protection in green. I don't think that it's better than a pump spell though, unless you're playing against a deck with paths. And since it's only for instants, you don't have protection from sorcery speed burn

In almost all situations Vines of Vastwood, Apostle's Blessing and Ranger's Guile are better. Although, if your opponent splits the damage from Electrolyze between you and a creature, Avoid Fate would counter the spell stopping the card draw and damage to you, where as the other spells listed would not. Similarly if your opponent chose to counter and bounce with Cryptic Command, Avoid Fate would counter the whole spell. So I guess against any instant with multiple targets Avoid Fate is actually better, but overall I don't think it beats the other spells listed.
Yep, don't think it's better than Vines or Blessing, which is why I probably won't be running it, but I've been thinking of testing it out to see how it goes. Don't have high hopes for it
@UltraMagnus: Tempted at the Marrow Shards as a 2-of in the SB against UR Tempo, especially since they are on the rise because of Treasure Cruise.
Haven't played Modern in a while, so I'm thinking of investing in a few fetches for my MonoGreen Infect since they are accessible nowm :3 My current manabase is:
13 Forest
1 Pendelhaven
4 Cathedral of War
4 Inkmoth Nexus
I'm thinking of cutting 7 Forests for 4 Wooded Foothills, 2 Windswept Heath and 1 Dryad Arbor, just to help in deck thinning, Groundswell, and sac effects. Do you think it's worth it? Thanks in advance for the feedback!
P.S. Tempted for 1-2 copies of become immense HAHA :))
I think it is risky because of the popularity of burn at the moment. Every point of life really counts especially with Eidolon of the Great Revel on the battlefield. One of the big appeals of going MonoG is that you don't take any damage from your mana base, which can quite often give you that extra turn you need to win.
I would say if you want to add fetches, then build UGx, it has the extra speed required to deal with the life loss. In UGx Dryad Arbor is more of a meta call, I would only main deck it if you expect heaps of Rock/Jund/Junk.
The main deck Sylvan Scrying gets dumped and run as a 2 of in the sideboard. Necropede comes in to replace it, because it is better against Burn and Delver (or just aggro in general). Marrow Shards comes into the side as a 2 of, again because of Delver. Giant Growth is still my preference over Might of Old Krosa because of the number of Lightning Bolts that are flying around at the moment.
I feel like MonoG is well placed again as a genuine option. At the last tourney I attended, I had gone back to UG and proceeded to get stomped. The guy that came 2nd was running MonoG and when I got home I switched back again lol.
I guess Sylvan Scrying days are over, when American Control, Rock and Jund decks were everywhere haha. :)) Alright, thanks so much for the insight!
P.S. So far my record against all variants of Burn is still perfect (in matches, hehe); I have yet to face Cruise Burn where they can refill their arsenal. :/ Treasure Cruise is just not fair. :))

Not sure about TC in infect coz the opponent should be dead by the time u cast it.
Other than that the list looks fine.
