My friend is telling me that Infect takes no skill. So I want to bear him. He is playing mono blue merfolk. Anybody have anystips for the match up? Should I do anything to the deck to make it more resilient? Thanks guys.
I'd tell him it's hypocritical to criticize infect while shuffling a deck that wins by cluttering a board with mermaids that just go sideways with the occasional land enchantment and artifact. What does your sideboard look like and which infect list are you using?
I used to see lists that ran Geist of saint traft in the side, and since they are at their lowest now, I was wondering what matches he is good against and if I should get a playset. Any thoughts?
Although Infect isn't favored in the meta atm doesn't mean it's a bad deck, it's one of the best out there. I think the time to build/master the deck is now before shadows comes out because something from eldrazi is going to get banned. They've said that much. And after that happens all the cards in the deck will go up. So I think this is the perfect time to play the deck.
I played UG infect at bologna too and played against a lot of UW eldrazi. I lost only 1 match to eldrazi and it was on the back of a play mistake.
Spellskite in main, and more in board, is insanely good (displacer, drowner, dismember, path, gutshot).
Mutagenic is amazing as it saves a dude from gutshot and the skite from dismember.
Distortion strike makes for easy kills with elf.
I might have been very lucky, but is this MU really that bad?

I am not saying this is the perfect list at all, as G1 is all in on a fast kill. There werent too many maindeck skites so it turned out well.
SB had loads of counters for all the coco-chord decks and living end with their moons and living end.
Pithing needle shines against UW eldrazi and it did stop more than one Æther Grid vs affinity.
I was worried about chalices out of ppls boards so the artifact removal was a bit clunky. I ended up dodging chalice entirely.
It depends on the draw,
turn 1 mimic into turn 2 Thought-Knot sometimes puts a huge dent in our plan. Perhaps overloading on spellskites is the way to battle them, but I would say the matchup is not too favorable. It's winnable, but some draws we just can't beat.
On the other hand we have similar draws they just can't beat. Seer is always a ***** though.

I'm curious about your SB, dont you favor the regular Kitchen Finks, Wild Defiance and Pulse of Murasa? The Burn/Zoo/Jund/Grixis MUs are unfavored for Infect right? I'm guessing the counterspells are your answers to these decks. What do you name with Pithing Needle vs Eldrazi? Displacer? Spellskite?

Burn must have t2 eidolon i feel like. The counters are great in that MU.
Small zoo is tough, but didnt see that deck at all due to the big fat drazi decks.
Jund/grixis are not great but 5 counters help. Needle on liliana is quite good here.
Needle on displacer or drowner even if they are banking on that one to win. It can name spellskite but most of the UW eldrazi decks i faced had no spellskites in the 75.
I felt like the wild defiance plan was way too slow and only really good vs coco-chord decks as bolt is at an all-time low. I ended up cutting it entirely from the 75. Might be a mistake, but almost all of my games were pure races.
I still like this deck even in the current meta. Eldrazi are everywhere of course, and if they get the nut draw they are nigh-unbeatable . . . but once SOI is out and changes to the ban list are announced, we'll definitely see a change there. If they don't get a nut draw / Thought Knot Seer early, we can definitely beat them.
I find the Abzan Company deck to be one of Infect's worst matchups - it's quite consistent for a combo deck, and has all the right pieces in the main to be able to fight against what we're doing. For this reason I'm running 2x Spell Pierce in the main - it fights against Coco and Chord (since you can't pay the 2 with Convoke), as well as a couple of Dispel in the SB. Still, post Eldrazi bannings it's going to be a powerhouse I think. I'll still pilot Infect though, every deck has to respect its ability to win out of nowhere.
im playing vs coco more often then vs elderazi and 1 thing they have learned is to play around spell pierce...
i find dismember + dispel package more usefull.
I have been running 2 Grafdigger's Cage out of the side, along with 3 Dismember which as been working really well against company/chord decks. Cage also comes in handy against Grishoalbrand decks. You can even keep the cage on the field with Apostle's Blessing if they find removal for it, as blessing targets an artifact or creature. I like it because you can play it early when you have the opportunity, including casting it with Inkmoth, and it permanently shuts down Collected Company and Chord of Calling. It also shuts down persist from Kitchen Finks and Murderous Redcap, so they can't combo off.
This weekend I'm going to a tourney with this deck for the first time, and was wondering if you all had any tips or anything to watch out for, or about must haves in my board?
What do you guys plan on changing with your decks post-eldrazi ban. I'm asking because I'm not sure what I would change. Maybe go down to 2-3 Mutagenic Growth and 3 Become Immense. Not entirely sure if I want any Groundswell so I might cut my 1 to have a mix of Apostle's Blessing, Slip Through Space and Rancor. What do you guys think?

I want to echo keeping Dismember mainboard. I currently have two, and I can't see myself cutting any. It's just so important against Abzan and Eldrazi. We'll obviously see what happens with the ban, but we should remember that it appears that they aren't intending to ban Eldrazi out of Modern, only to make it less out of control. I'd expect to still see some Eldrazi decks.
I'm currently running 2x Viridian Corrupter, and I think soon I'll be cutting one and bringing a Spellskite back in.
I made Top8 again out of 60 players only this time, against the ff decks:
Round 1: 2-1 vs. Affinity
Round 2: 2-1 vs. RG Tron
Round 3: 2-0 vs. Affinity
Round 4: 0-2 vs. RG Eldrazi (kept a greedy hand and lost bigtime)
Round 5: 2-0 vs. Domain Zoo
Round 6: Intentional Draw
Quarterfinals: 1-2 vs. Colorless Eldrazi (it wasn't even a loss, it was rape. Felt Wild Defiance's slowness for the first time.)
First time I fought the Eldrazi Menace last weekend. I feel against the RG version max. 4 of Spellskites will help since they have a boatload of removal (Gut Shot, Dismember, Bolt, Kozilek's Return). For the Colorless Eldrazi... I'll have to agree it's best to just race them whatever o.0 Might play a Modified Tom Ross list this coming weekend's GPT.
How are the Dismembers good against EldrazI? And aside from Abzan CoCo, what other decks will they be useful?
Grats on the finish sir! Would you mind sharing your list? I am thinking of up'ing my Dismembers (currently playing 1x MD) atm for the Eldrazi overlords but I dont know what to cut in my SB.
Ok thanks for the replies :)) Unfortunately, both the rest of my deck and I HATED the Tom Ross version so much; it compromised my games in the mirror match and the deck didn't feel like it got the kick it needed against Eldrazi. Add the fact that I'm bad at adapting to deck. changes in such a short period of time... I think I'll be playing my usual list. :)) I'd rather use a dexk that I've bern comfortable with against so many match-ups rather than try to somehow im3prove my hame against a single archetype.I hope I just dodge them early HAHA :))
@froz0016, for the past three months I've used the exact 75 cards I posted on page 116, and I'm not changing anything anytime soon. My playstyle and sideboard guide is just reminiscient of Tom Ross's SCG Premium article of his deck tech for Infect, the one from 2015 when CFB first debuted the deck with Become Immense. I've learned how to play he deck that way and it has never changed.

It's too good. I love the combo feel of it and the way we can kill me damn fast.
I've been watching a lot of Tom Ross lately.
He is awesome. I've noted a lot of the time he doesn't play a turn 1 elf.
