i find myself boarding out gitaxian probe almost every time....
what am i doing wrong?
Nothing wrong, that's the first card to cut for most people/matchups because it doesnt actually advance our gameplan, but is very useful in other ways (filling up the yard, seeing if it's clear to gun for the kill ect). Another reason you board it out first is because after Game 1 you know what deck your opponent is on and playing effective SB cards against their strategy is more important than seeing their hand and filling the yard.
Also the fact that it's a perfect card game 1 and a perfect sideout option is very good overall, not many decks have cards like that.
So this is my deck, SB is meta, but MB atm is kinda stock. from Ross and a few others. After a few tourneys i will tweak. I am horrid at keeping hands though. What is a good hand to keep. btw the deck
Activating Inkmoth Nexus while an opposing Melira, Sylvok Outcast is on the battlefield, will cause Inkmoth to become a creature with infect, but an opponent with Melira on the board can't get poison counters, so the damage does nothing.
However if Melira enters the battlefield while Inkmoth Nexus is a creature, Inkmoth will actually deal normal damage, as in this case it has lost infect. This scenario can sometimes happen when they use Chord of Calling or Collected Company to find Melira in your turn, and can be significant especially if you have a Wild Defiance in play and can attack for enough normal damage to win that turn.
Thanks for the list! Am going to give it a try. We almost have the same MD list though. I still use the old utility cards Twisted Image and Dismember. As well as the newbie OGW ench Oath of Nissa. As for your SB, am a huge fan of the 3x GoSt. Traft! Sadly, I dont own any so I use Kitchen Finks/Spreading Seas as my Burn/Jund/Junk/Rock slots. Anyway, I freaking hate the Burn MU. It kinda feels like 25-30% winrate.
Kitchen Finks can efficiently keep a burn player from winning, however if you are not playing pulse of murasa I would highly recommend it, I find that card makes the match up laughable especially for you since you can get back finks at instant speed.
Tom Ross lists Infect as the 3rd best deck in modern right now, behind Eldrazi and Affinity. He claims that he is comfortable with the Eldrazi match-up, and Viridian Corrupter is helping with the Chalice of the Void problem. I notice he is running 2 Corrupters main, and 2 in the side. Here is his Infect deck from the article:
wonder what are twisted images for? (i take that with 4 corrupters, spellskite is not a problem)
is dryad arbor necessary evil?
Jund/bg matchup is super hard anyway, maybe its better to focus on improving other MUs?
It seems good to have a range of answers for Spellskite for any given match-up, so you can pick what is more appropriate.
On the Jund topic, it's still around and is something to be prepared for. I have a good record against it, but am always happy to avoid it in a tournament
Dryad Arbor is very much a necessary evil - sometimes you need to win with conventional damage, and it keeps Liliana of the Veil from beating you by itself.
Thanks to Eldrazi, BGX Midrange is on the downswing, but you still can't punt on that matchup - it's prevalent and will cost you a match if you're not prepared. It's also relatively straightforward to prepare for - get your creatures out early, keep 7 whenever possible, and side in Spellskites of your own to gobble up removal.
0 Spellskites in the 75 feels like a mistake to me. There's not that much artifact hate flying around, and there are still several matchups (Burn, BGX) that are very hard to win without it.
Not having Spellskite is a huge mistake. People recognize Infect right away which means they will focus on killing our creatures. Spellskite is the best all-around answer we have to that, I would never cut them. I run 2 MB and 1 SB.
Also, who cares if the "pros" don't use them? They meta-game for Pro Tour/GP which is completely different than FNM/PPTQ ect which is what most people here play, let's keep it real.
Those Kitchen Finks have me scratching my head. I understand what they are supposed to do but it seems Pulse of Murasa would be a better choice in that slot in the SB. I'd like to hear his justification.

Yup, I have 2x Pulse of Murasa in my SB as well in addition to the 2x Kitchen Finks. The Pulse of Murasa feel like Green Kommands IMO.

Kitchen Finks kinda shores up the horrible MUs like Burn/Jund/Rock IMO. Pulse compliments it really well. Also Finks can be another target for opponents additional SB removal. Burn brings in PTE G2 to combat our G2 Wild Defiances. We kinda need to overload our opponents removal.

Not sure how pros meta comprare to MTGO in your opinion?
Infect lists from past week that "made it" on MTGO aren't using skites, neither do i and i do not miss them...
In this meta where everyone is just trying to play past eachother and not interact, they may not be the best. However the meta will change again when Eldrazi gets banned (which they will). Until then I'm keeping at least 2 Skite in my MB since people WILL try to interact with Infect, otherwise they're dead.
