Have ninjas like Sakashima's Student or Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni been considered to force more damage across/gain a creature? copy or steal a goyf, wurmcoil, bob, or snapcaster then reap the benefits. they also allow the reusage of cliques and sss
Too bad sakashima's student isn't legal in modern... soooooo.......

There is no reason being friendly and being competitive can't be synonymous.
Heck, how about Deep Hours and draw cards? Always a plus.
I've entertained the idea of deep hours, simply for the card draw. It doesn't seem that good, though. A ground beater that net draws you 1 card on average is about all you'll be getting out of it most likely.

Alright, so Day 1 testing is done. Went 1-3 but here is what I played against and how I did:
Round 1 - RUG Scapeshift
Game 1: Ran him over with Bitterblossom, SSS, and Mistbind Clique. I didn't see a single Scapeshift through all of my Thoughtseize's, Inquisitions, or Vendilions, yet I still figured he wasn't creature heavy, so I sideboarded what I think is appropriately. Out: Agony Warp, Dismember, Smother In: Spell Snare x2, Cryptic Command
Game 2: I finally see the Scapeshift, with him casting it while my defenses are down, die to 7 Valakut triggers.
Game 3: I played a pretty solid game. I was countering and removing all of the relevant cards (Izzet Charm, Snapcasters, Scapeshift). Gets later in the game and he taps 6 mana. He casts Scapeshift declaring he was leaving UR floating. I had 4 mana up with 2 Cryptics and a Leak in hand. I completely blank and go to Cryptic the Scapeshift and bounce his Valakut, but he uses his floating mana to cast an obvious Izzet Charm to counter the Cryptic.
0 - 1
Round 2 - Affinity
Game 1: Game one goes rather well. I manage to keep him off of Ravager and Plating. I eventually win with a Spellstutter equipped with Sword of Light and Shadow which was getting me back Mistbinds and SSS's.
Out: Aether Vial x2 In: Hurkyl's Recall x2
I think the Vials are too slow in this match up. I'd rather be using Inquisition or Thoughtseize on turn 1 to disrupt his game plan.
Game 2: He literally vomits 6 of his 7 cards into play on his first turn, which is fine since I kept a hand with Recall in it. On my first turn I Thoughtseize out his last card (a Ravager) and pass. He attacks me for a bunch. Now here is where I screwed up. I decided to play a Creeping Tar Pit on turn 2, instead of a Mutavault, since playing the Tar Pit would give me the ability to cast Vendilion on turn 3 and Cryptic on Turn 4 (I had an island in hand). I pass, and then he Thoughtseize's my Recall and proceeds to kill me. Note to self: if I have a recall, ALWAYS keep mana up for it if possible.
Game 3: I wish I could give you guys the play by play for this game. It was a grind fest, and honestly the best game I played all day. It got down to the point where I needed to stall until I drew a win condition, and my deck just let me do it. I was able to chain Cryptic into Cryptic, into Snapcaster Cryptic, into my final Cryptic, which finally drew me a Recall. I bounced all his permanents after he animated his Inkmoth/Blinkmoths to kill me with a creature equipped with Cranial Plating. From there I stabilized with my Snapcaster which I had equipped with Sword of Light and Shadow. With the sword I was able to get back all the creature I had just thrown out to die chump blocking, and I ended up beating him in the end.
1 - 1
Round 3 - UR Storm
Game 1: Bitterblossom + Cryptic Command + Mistbind just obliterated the kid.
He's storm, so I just need to counter his stuff and disrupt his hand right?........right?
Game 2: Despite my best efforts, he manages to dig into a Past in Flames and cast it. Unfortunately for me, I only had a Spell Snare in hand, and he had more than enough mana and rituals to Grapeshot me to death. The pilot was a younger kid who seemed new to the deck. I feel bad, but I kinda yelled at him a little bit since he seemed to be wasting time building up extra storm triggers when he could just have killed me. Turns out he was trying to play around me having a bunch of lifegain or something. Regardless, I apologized to him, and after the round I helped give him some pointers on playing the deck better (for example getting UU off of manamorphose instead of UR)
Game 3: I feel like I should have Grafdigger's Cage or Relic of Prog in against this deck. The only way I lost was again to a Past in Flames that squeaked through all my counters. I'll try boarding that in the next time I play against storm but I also feel like my Spell Pierce's would be better off as Negates. It feels bad when your opponent can blatantly play around your way to stop their combo.
1 - 2
Round 4: Junk Pod
Game 1: I drop a turn 1 Mutavault, which prompts my opponent to immediately assume I am playing Faeries, but them make a joke about how he was trying to get away from Mutavault in Standard. Proceed to play a swamp and Pack Rat on turn 2 to the tune of "oh *****." Turns out Pack rat just beats the ***** out of Pod. Unfortuantely for me, my brain didn't switch into full on aggro mode, and I played too carefully with my Rat in play. He landed a Linvala the next turn and I proceeded to lose to it and a Gavoyn Township. Note to self: When I can go all in on Pack Rat, I should honestly go all in on Pack Rat.
Out: Pack Rat x3 In: Smother x2, Dismember
Remember that note to self I just wrote? I didn't realize that until after the round. Lets just say i won't make that mistake again.
Game 2: My opening hand was Darkslick Shores, River of Tears, Bitterblossom, SSS, SSS, Mana Leak, Mistbind. I thought that this hand would bring me an easy win. Turn 2 he Abrupt Decays my Bitterblossom, then I proceed to not draw a single land until turn 6, where he has 2-3 creatures and a Gavony Township. God damn you variance >_<
1-3
Right off the bat I am going to make the following changes to my sideboard:
-2 Smother
-2 Spell Pierce
+2 Negate
+1 Go For the Throat
+1 Doom Blade
Against Storm, every time I had Pierce I just wished it was a Negate, and against Pod, my Smothers were terrible against Restoration Angel and Linvala. Hopefully I can do better tomorrow

The Jace is indeed an interesting choice. I guess he's good ad mitigating early damage from aggressive decks, and he gives us a lot of draw power in the other match ups. I'm not sure how I feel about 2 Serum Visions honestly. I feel like that card is 4 or 0 in a deck. It's amazing as a turn 1 play for the deck, but after that we have other cards we want to be casting on most of our turns. Far & Away is most likely to have a mainboard way to deal with the Boggles deck without having them gain a thousand life from something like Devour Flesh. I like this build for the most part, looks really fun.

Architect probably really helps against affinity. I know I've considered it for that reason alone. Turning off signal pests buys a lot of time. and it can always default to a 4 mana draw 1/2 if needed I guess

To be fair, Recall just wins us the game post board, so I don't think Affinity is a huge issue for Faeries. Thought I don't like tapping out on my turn on turn 4. Makes me feel vulnerable :|

Would you consider Glen Elendra Archmage instead of negate? Admitting that I don't see storm matchups that frequently, Archmage has been really sweet to me. It's additional pressure, and is also two negates for half-price each once it resolves.
I considered Archmage, but after the games I played yesterday I don't really like it. Usually my storm opponent would try to combo off on turn 4-5. With that in mind, on those turns you could cast Archmage, but then you don't have the mana to use it, which really sucks. I might try it out later, but for now I am sticking with Negate.

I think negate is better than spell pierce in about every matchup but boggles/infect.
I didn't notice until this got quoted (just above this post) but because with the Throat + Doom Blade, you end up opening yourself to affinity a little bit on sideboarding (although usually recall is good). Consider using Ultimate Price instead of Go For the Throat as it has more targets [and cant be redirected by spellskite] in general. Ultimate Price typically only gets dodged by : Murderous Redcap, Kitchen Finks, Qasali Pridemage (Harmonic Sliver too, but hes not removal worthy really), and Gaddock Teeg.

I don't think Ultimate Price is a good card. Against affinity, it only kills Vault Skirge and Master of Etherium. Against other decks, it just doesn't kill multicolored cards.
Or am I missing/misunderstanding something here?

And I totally missed the "sideboard" changes... I like ultimate price in the mainboard over GftT because it hits more things [outside affinity]

Hmm, what does it hit outside affinity what GftT doesn't?
Hmm, what does it hit outside affinity what GftT doesn't?
I ran mine mainboard, so it _did_ have targets in affinity (where GftT doesnt). I have since just traded it out for something else, but I always expect plenty of affinity and felt that it was better main than GftT.
I completely botched what I was trying to say above so will redo it here :
A ) I meant for the mainboard, not sideboard option.
B ) Ultimate Price has more targets game 1 in the field than GftT does in the field since it does have some (although few) targets in affinity. [[ Again particularly irrelevant since he was talking sideboard, which I somehow missed on second pass ]]
C ) Regardless of either of those... I havent actually ran that card in my Faeries deck in a while, there are just better options. [[ It doesnt hit some manlands that are sometimes hard to pick off ]]
I feel my mainboard removal suite of Dismember, Smother, and Agony Warp, can cover a lot of bases for game 1. Smother is really good against a lot of decks, and it's only really bad against Pod and Kiki. Dismember kills basically any creature that isn't Wurmcoil, and Agony Warp can open up possible 2 for 1s.
Thanks for the comments though guys, I am considering everything you're saying.

I played against a buddy's affinity deck for about 4 hours yesterday. Results were downrigt dismal, although it's probably worth saying that I didn't use my board as he hasn't got his yet. Overall, my feeling was that our decks plays a solid control play, but lacks pressure to close games fast enough. Also, 3 Mistbinds seemed like too few, whereas my 3 Vendilion often stuck around in my hand. I will hence cut one Vendilion for a fourth Misty.
I'm also thinking about Scion again. Either him or some kind of Sword seems like a necessary evil.

I agree, the pre-board against Affinity is pretty terrible. You honestly need to be lucky and chain Cryptic Commands to stall for time and help you build up a board state. That said, if they ever have a hiccup in their aggression our deck can exploit and use it to win.
Post-board the match up is a lot easier sicne we're boarding in Recalls. I've also considered Engineered Explosives, but it has anti-synergy with Bitterblossom and Pack rat, so I am unsure how well it will work.
