Just wanted to share I went undefeated tonight.4:0
G1 2-0 UW Terminus Control
G2 2-1 Grixis Death shadow (should have been 2-0 but couldn't hit for last 1 damage g2)
G3 2-0 UB Mill
G4 2-0 Grishoalbrand ( He drew poorly both games with no fast goryos )
Nothing crazy or different from the stock shoal list except for minus one shoal plus one turn aside Every dog has his day. A great way to celebrate foil Goyf #2 whom I just picked up yesterday!

Sweet, and it's heartening to hear. I went 2-2 last night, beating Green Devotion and Titan Shift, losing in a close game to UR Phoenix and a blowout to GDS. The Turn Aside is really interesting, and I'll have to pick one up for the RUG box.
Are you playing 2 Tarfire? I cut one before walking out the door yesterday for a Flame Slash, although it probably should just be a Dismember.
What does your board plan against Shadow look like? I cut Delvers last night, which seems bad in retrospect, under the theory that they'll put themselves to 8 or so, and then one attack plus a Bolt seals it. My opponent Surgicaled my Goyfs for some reason, though, so I only had 4 Mandrills and 2 Huntmasters to kill him with, and it just didn't work out.

Had my first night playing Temur Delver! It was a blast, even if I went 1-2. They were all close matches! Everyone I played against said the games were some of the most exciting they had played in a while, it feels good to play a tempo-based, interactive deck!
Bant Spirits was a puzzler. They are certainly the beatdown, so I should have played more conservatively. Got blown out by a Settle the Wreckage, and they kept picking off my creatures with Path to Exile. I needed to keep up more counter magic.
The sideboard was designed for a meta I didn't actually see last night. The Spirits player is usually on tron, and there are usually 3 Tron players present.
I should have brought in all AGs against spirits, I think? Instead I made the mistake of bringing in 1 Grudge and 2 blood moons (They actually had too many basics to made Blood moon effective). I also brought in Drakes so I could block in the air. I'm thinking I should actually sideboard more sweepers?
Against Spirits, I felt like Spell Pierce and Stubborn Denial, in my main deck, kept being dead in my hand, though I never had them when I needed them - against Coco, Settle, and the paths. Should have brought in Dismember against Spirits too.
Any suggestions for this sideboard? I also see now how Huntmaster of the Fells would be pretty handy. But probably still wouldn't get there against Spirits.
It felt like there were a number of times where I would have rather had counter magic that hit creatures, rather than Pierces and Denials. Thoughts on 2 Mana leaks, or a remand? Am I playing wrong - how do we handle creature-heavy decks?
Nevertheless, this deck is a blast! I got a lot of compliments for playing it, and I think it created some play puzzles for my opponents. I'll mos def be playing it much more. Just gotta keep tweaking the SB.
@Mike: I can't remember what I took out. But I brought in 3 moons, negate, d stroke, 2 surgical, 2 hunts.
I think you are right concerning keeping in the delvers, a swing or two and a bolt can usually be good game.
I am only playing one fire and I'm trying out a spite of mogis, which I never saw at all yesterday.
@Cat: Glad you had a great night. Certainly win or lose this deck is THEE most fun I've ever had playing magic and that's why I play it. Sounds like you are on the right track regarding you're side board decisions, it'll come with practice! The problem with Remand and to a much lesser extent vapor snag, is bouncing things back into our opponents hand just for them to cast again the same turn doesn't net us a win the way twin could playing the card. Sure it's a tempo card but removing it from the equation via mana leak or negate is just SOOO much better for us. Perhaps Jordan can phrase it better. I'm sure there's a page or two on it in the thread.
Depending on the kind of creature heavy decks it's mostly about shutting down the enablers and payoff cards, and trusting your sideboard to work as its supposed to. As recently mentioned, we are one good removal spell from being a pretty darn good deck again.
So what are we realistically looking for in Modern Horizons? I know Jordan in today's article cited the magical lala land, full of happy little elves, wish of Fire//Ice, Stifle, and Divert. Those all look sweet, but I don't know which of those would realistically be printed. We just saw Fire and Ice in UMA... The reason I like this deck is because it's got a Legacy vibe to it, and it certainly looks like Modern Horizons is intended to make Modern the new Legacy. From the looks of Cabal Therapist we could get some classic Legacy spells on legs, I'm wondering what spell of that sort might fit in Blue or Red's pie. We already sort of have Stifle on Legs in the form of Nimble Obstructionist. It seems we want a more flexible removal spell, I don't know what's in the old border that would fill that slot. I'm pretty sure Wizards won't give Modern "free spells" like Snap.
I'm not getting my hopes up for much. I'm sure we'll get something, but I think the set could change Modern so much that it's hard to know how we'd shift.
I had to take a break yesterday. My last two online leagues have gone 2-3 and actual 0-5. Draws have been so bad online lately and I'm starting every other game on a mull to 6 or worse, and I think I'm boarding worse than I used to. I'm awfully tired of playing against decks that get stuff back from the yard for free, because we just don't have the tools to do much about it unless we warp the sideboard with like 2 Surgicals and 2 Crypts or something.

Why not just do that though? I have been very happy on triple Surgical in this metagame.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
Gonna drop the fourth monkey to try out 1x stifle bird tomorrow.
I'd like to drop the basic mountain but I almost feel like it's a necessary evil. Thoughts?
Notably, I own RUG delver in legacy so if we see any of those cards in Horizons I'm covered. That and 4 foil Counterspell. Hopefully They don't make me have to shell out for judge promo FOW's. LOL

I'd pretty never liked to play 4 mandrills, so I think it can be a good Idea to drop it; but wouldn't be Vendilion Clique just better than Nimble Obstructionist?

This is probably correct. And I do love me some VClique. But I want to see how this bird plays. Our new friend a few pages back said it was the best card in the deck. I thought this was a pretty bold statement. So my curiosity is peaked.

I'm thinking sideboard. Solifuge was a hell of a card back in its day. I'm just tinkering.
I was thinking for sideboard too.
I didn't ask rethorical question. I still don't have correct answer for those questions, just opinions. I didn't want to dismiss your idea either (I've never played solifuge: I wasn't playing competitevely those days, so I need help evaluating the card).
Don't you think Firecraft is almost always better?
If not, when do you think solifuge is better? Maybe on an empty board (without bridge)?
May hazoret have wider applications being similar in cost and resilience (It lacks trample but has a built in anti-bridge ability)?

I think the argument is 50/50 and I think neither option is GREAT. or even good.. they are simply options in our genaric toolbox.
Bridge is a card but so is Path
It's a creature that isn't graveyard dependant, It protects itself, from path seeing a high rise in play again (vs phoenix) which can target Hazoret, Most of us have grudge and revelry in the deck to combat bridge (though the work around of Hazoret and Huntmaster usually does the heavy lifting here). We have been somewhat looking for a card that trumps control.

I think other than exactly Jund and Rock, Huntmaster is just the best 4 drop currently in print for the deck. The value is great and it wins if it sticks, but it also does good stuff like damage through a Bridge, lifegain against the aggro decks, blockers for GDS ... It's just great. Hazoret is probably better against the Thoughtseize decks that don't have Path, but in all the other matchups, I'd rather go a little wider.
Went 2-1 last night. Lost to Phoenix 0-2, though the games were close. Beat both Dredge and Storm 2-0, and the Dredge games were both won by countering key discard outlets with either Shoal or Pierce, not through hate. Surgical wrapped up game 2 against Storm. I stuck a Grafdigger's Cage in over my general catch all, Delay, and never saw it and never wanted to. Phoenix killed me with Thing and Drake, and Cage doesn't do anything there. What I really wanted was another Flame Slash in the 75, so I may try that out next week.
I'm also learning that except in the ultra grindy matchups, I'm probably overboarding. Instead of the 7-10 cards I often sideboard in, I've been more like 3-6 lately and happier for it. The Shoal plan feels great right now against most of the top decks. I'm even going to cut a Blood Moon down to 2 I the board, which feels awful given how much I love that card, but all I want right now are extra Spell Pierces and removal that kills x/4s.
I was also toying with the idea of going down to 1 Snapcaster and playing a Nimble Obstructionist, Vendilion Clique, or even Savage Knuckleblade as my 15th creature. Snapcaster has just been a little slow and I want more ways to close the game faster that don't rely on recasting Bolts. Having a 9th ferocious enabler with Knucks is also super tempting. Thoughts?
