Slightly revised list, went 5-0 in a league. Beat bw tax, affinity, tron, mardu pyro, humans. Hopefully they post my list and get sisters a little recognition
@BoBoCTiberius - how necessary have you found T1 TS/IOK to be to make the discard package effective? No Marsh Flats so thinking of running Isolated Chapels/godless shrines with Windswept Heaths in the meantime. Running my usual list this week but I wana give that idea a swing for sure next week.
The play has to be turn 1 Sister/Discard, turn 2 the other part of that coin. Turn 1 Discard makes turn 2 Auriok easier, but it's also not incredibly necessary against the decks where you want it. There will be games where you turn 1 fire it off and take Goyf or other 2-drop threat that you're less likely to nab if you don't play the discard spell turn 1, but against the decks where you need it (combo or Lantern), I think it's still fine to do it turn 2.
Had 2 more 5-0s this deck is very underrated in the current meta. Beating the normal good match ups burn, affinity, jund, hollow one, zoo, mardu pyro, humans and surprisingly have a winning record vs breach, elves and tron... storm is still unwinnable no matter how many cards I devote to it.... Link to list is a few comments up. Still undecided on horizon canopy there has been a few games where the damage was very relevant but they have also helped dig a few times as well.
What is everyone thought about this guy? Looks like a good replacement for Honor of the Pure
It'is a threat on his own, instead of something that can be ignored, it's more vulnerable to removal, but it's also something that the opponent needs to remove. It triggers the soul sisters, it is protected by Brave the Elements and it's somewhat resistent to Fatal Push. Also with this option we won't have any maindeck enchantment to hit for Tarmogoyf of Nahiri, the Harbinger.
Since the Mana Cost is somewhat diffult and is potentially a big tempo loss I would not play more that 3, but look like a nice addition.
I'll admit, I took a break for a while with this deck but having played it more recently I think this throws off tempo a little too much and doesn't really solve any issues that Honor had. On 3 I want to be resolving a Lingering Soulsor Spectral Procession to trigger a sister twice or 3 times and even if we land an Honor, decks that would run Goyf aren't usually running 4 Abrupt Decay to hit enchantments so its worth having something that when it sticks they have less options to remove it. Also, I think other decks that have enchantment hate (naya burn perhaps)in the side might not actually side in that kind of hate since we are so much more creature/token heavy.
Just my two cents.
Sidenote, been playing this list for a main and other than some mana issues with no Marsh Flats, Ive been digging having some extra interaction with discard without shifting the core too much.
storm is still unwinnable no matter how many cards I devote to it..
I disagree, I have had decent match-ups with storm. They are a hard deck to deal with and the match-up is not in our favor. It can be won if your tempo can get them. Edilon Retoric, GY removal, you need to slow them down and play both a long game and a short interactive game. Force them to find answers for your cards losing tempo.
@the_car_a_carn
The deck is fair against the meta. It has very winnable matches and other matches are a real struggle.
you might want to change up more for the burn matches. and fix your storm match up. Just my opinion.
Souls is necessary and I think its widely accepted that when splashing black, a more token heavy build it brings kind of pushes out the hawk/sands engine.
Can Merfolk Trickster stop our Pridemate from gaining counters from our Soul Sisters' trigger?
Not permanently, just for the turn it comes into play. But if the trigger is on the stack the ability will resolve.
"Flash
When Merfolk Trickster enters the battlefield, tap target creature an opponent controls. It loses all abilities until end of turn. "
So, ETB trigger off of Sister, place on stack (T1), Opponent responds with trickster, ETB of trickster on stack(T2), ETB trigger of sister off of trickster on stack(T3). Pridemate sees life gain when you resolve the triggers, gaining you new triggers (T3a)...
no matter how the trickster taps you will still gain life because they are on the stack, Once you gain life then you get the Trigger off of a Pridemate.
Every thing on the stack before the Trickster ETB that gains you life will trigger the pridemate's Triggers and can be placed on pridemate. Even if The Mate gets tapped later. He will lose abilities but not counters earned. Triggers for life gain after Trickster will not occur.
So your pridemate sees the gain from T3 and creates a trigger gaining you a +1/+1 counter. Trickster turns pridemate dumb, he does not see the T1 trigger resolve.
another way to see it is everything you gain on the stack before the trickster distracts your pridemate will not gain you counters on that pridemate. But all the lifegain after the ETB Triggger is on the stack will still give you counters.
So, your opponnet plays trickster, trickster ETB trigger, sister ETB trigger, in response you play raise the alarm. Raise the alarm is last on stack; resolves, 3 guys 3 life triggers on stack from sister, as resolves the pridemate sees and gets the 3 counters, then the tricksters ETB resolves and the pridemate sees no more until end of turn.
I've been tinkering with a decklist for Mardu Sisters and I feel like it could be decent. I am not sure if the human tribe is worth what I have at the moment or if I should swap out the Champion of the Parish and Thalia's Lieutenant for something like Ajani's Pridemate and Spectral Procession. I also feel like a one of Elspeth might do the deck some good.
The point of the deck is not to gain a huge life advantage over our opponent as is typical with Soul Sisters, but rather to use our life as a token generating and card drawing resource with Bobs and Bitterblossoms. Let me know if you have any thoughts or criticisms as this is still unrefined and unplaytested. I will be playing it likely this week at my LGS to see if it has any shot at being a viable deck.
Hi everyone, I've been running a pretty solid list with a couple of new tricks for the last weeks and it's going pretty fine. I've tried to maximize and capitalize on sheer creature number with benefits from multiple attackers, build in protection from board wipes and the advantages of a streamlined monocolored list.
I'm trying to fit one extra Soul's Attendant in the main and thinking about Stony Silence in the side, but I'm not sure what to take out... Do you have suggestions?
Really curious on everyone’s thoughts on running at least 2 copies of Ajani Goldmane
Why do you want to run him?
What does this guy do for your deck that is better than other PW or other cards.
Ajani could in theory give you another ajani's pridemate a large creature that stomps. the +2 life is not needed, the -1 counters is fair but not OP.
Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, {c]Elspeth, knight-errant[/c] are both very useful when the come into play and give you similar effects.
I have to disagree, Ajani Goldmane’s -1 is absolutely amazing. I have played 1-2 Ajani Goldmane for a few years now, and nobody ever expects it and it wrecks them. The great part about this ability is the unique combination of +1/+1 counter, vigilance, and 4 loyalty. Essentially it boils down to being able to mount a continual offense with an iron defense for 4 turns in a row.
First you pump your team and get vigilance. Depending on the board, this can be as good as a free attack. Your Lingering Souls tokens will usually get free damage that turn. Because of vigilance, not only are you protected, but Ajani is safe too!
This means you can usually activate Ajani a second time. Now all of your creatures will have a +2/+2 bonus and still have vigilance. Continue to tick Ajani all the way down to zero.
The pressure of a mass swing with vigilance for up to 4 turns by an ever growing army will win the game and makes your opponent sweat. With all of this said, I will always run 4 copies of Honor of the Pure first. Archangel of Thune is awesome too of course, but I like the cmc on Goldmane a lot more though.
Regarding Ajani Goldmane, it seems to be strictly worst than Elspeth, Knight-Errant or Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. Both Elspeth and Gideon are good on their own providing bodies and get's better if you have a board, Elspeth providing evasion and Gideon widespread pump. Ajani seems to be really weak on an empty board.

you could cut a land, 23 I find to be a bit much when I play (21-22 seems like the sweet spot), also considering your Landings flipping.
I am not sold on the selfless spirit, could be a sideboard option depending on meta.
Return to the ranks has not always been good when Ive played it. Either you have targets in your GY or you do not. It makes for bad draws when you need action early, so that could be a 1 of.
Do you have a lot of storm players in your meta? You have 5 SB cards to deal with them.
I'll try to explain my reasoning to keep the discussion flowing.
With 3 DROP 4 and 3 DROP 5 I find 23 lands to be the minimum, especially considering 3 come in to plat tapped. Also the 7 DROP 3 also require WWW, and this require a lot of lands.
I can see the reasoning behind playing a single Return to the Ranks, I'll probably switch to 1. Maybe an Aven Mindensor can take the place of the second one, Titan Shift feels like a nightmare!
I mostly play online, so the meta i very variable. Storm is always present but there are also a lot of different combos decks, Krark-Clan Ironworks, Elves, Ad Nauseam etc etc. Eidolon of Rhetoric also is usefull Vs any snapcaster deck and Damping Sphere is a house Vs Tron, I find them to be cards with wider range of hate.

maybe instead of return to the ranks it could be replaced with dusk // dawn. It could give you more versatility and gives the option to return the dead later.
The marshal is worst in some situations, especially if the opponent deck is without enchantment removal, but after a couple hundred games think the upsides are more than the downsides. Selfless Spirit in this specific list provides protection for all the creature, allowing some form of overextension.
On the sideboard discussion, Dusk // Dawn looks difficult to resolve against control, and I would have to wrath my own board at least one to get it in the graveyard; the more I think about it the more I see the best wrath currently available as Settle the Wreckage.
