Elves got their Sylvan Messenger and even if Ringleader is not in Dominaria, it can make an appearance in the core set. I also feel like Matron is too good for Modern in wotcs opinion as you put the card in your hand and not on top of the library like Forerunners. We already have a 3 mana tutor in Boggart Harbinger that sees little to no play. I guess top of the library is the new tribal tutor.
Speaking of other possibilities; Sharpshooter could be introduced, but Gempalm seems like a reach as we just had a cycling set and who knows when the mechanic returns. I guess Goblin Lackey will never see the green light in Modern, but some fringe stuff like Goblin Settler or an improved Skirk Drill Sergeant could be possible. Another card I would be happy to try in Modern is Grenzo, Dungeon Warden, but it won't be in Dominaria and might never be modern legal as we speak.
When playing with a new strange list, try the following:
On any turn, a few times in a round after untap your cards, said to your oponent ¨... im at my upkeep step¨
Then look at your hand, check up the board, check your life points notes, if required check both graveyards and/or point your finger like you were counting damage.
Wait a few seconds and look as you were thinking a play... all of this in your upkeep step...
Then say.... hmmm nop nop... Ill draw...

Definitely need Gempalm Incinerator reprinted into Modern. Hope we can also get Goblin Lackey as I don't think he is over powered for the format but maybe I'm asking for too much!

"Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight."
Oh man. Gempalm inci erator will never be reprinted. Wow. That's a winner in our deck if I ever saw one. That's why they won't give it to us. We would become a tier deck in a heartbeat.
I'm kinda high on Ringleader reprint, looks more realistic than Matron. Anyhow, even if we don't get anything spectacular in Dom, we still can hope for Core set to include some goblins.
A ringleader reprint would greatly increase the power level of this deck. I've seen the legacy goblins in action, and ringleader is one of the cards that keeps the deck going.
I've built SaffronOlive's list but wasn't satisfied by Piledrivers. You need 4 manas to play them and grant them haste in the same turn, which is way too slow. They get killed way to easily while they're summoned sick. Did 2-2 at my LGS.
I'm bringing the deck again tonight but with Burning-Tree Emissary in place of the Piledriver and I'm very optimistic. It makes for so much more explosive games.
Devastating Summons I haven't integrated yet, but I'm interested. I'll try to keep in mind when I draw a Chieftain tonight : "would I rather it be a Summons ?" and go from there

Ooooookaaaaaay. Pile-driver has won me sooooooooooooooooooooo many games, that I think if he weren't a card, I wouldn't play the deck. He beats face like they slapped his momma. Burning tree emmisary is a MUCH weaker, less synergistic creature. If you play. BTE and have something to do with the Mana, great. I've emptied my hand with this deck so many times that I think the free Mana will be wasted.
Anyhow. I'm curious to see if I'm right or wrong. I wish you luck!
After all, there's nothing like beating down with a bushwacked 14/2 goblin pile-driver.
And I love Piledriver, don't get met wrong ! My first real deck was Goblin Food Chain in Legacy, and my first set was Onslaught. So I grew attached to the little guy ^^
Did 3-1 last night. I lost to dredge because of a mana death and a slow hand. Then I got to beat Green Devotion and two Junds. It feels good to have Jund bite the dust (it's only what this uninspired deck deserves after all).
Burning Tree Emissary definitely did some good job. BTE into Mogg War Marshal makes for a great turn 2 and allows the Denizen to hit for 4. BTE into BTE into lightning bolt was sweet. BTE into surged Reckless Bushwhacker is the most amazing feeling in the world (even if it only happened once).
I don't know, my meta is so Jund heavy that I really feel uncomfortable relying on a single big hitter like the Piledriver. Many Decays, Bolts and Pushes were cast last night. I'm fine with an army of faster, expendable bears. I'm not 100% sure yet what's going to be my final list though
EDIT : Piledriver is arguably better against Bogles and Merfolk.
Obviously need to test it, but I've been looking at blazing volley/Electrickery type cards to break board stalls for awhile (take a look starting around pg260)and this does the job while also providing a body. Wish it had haste instead if first strike, but what can ya do.
He is going VERY low to the ground. I would have been skeptical if the results weren't there, but here they are.
I also wouldn't have played Ramunap Ruins, but he's adamantly playing a playset each time so it must be useful.
I think I'm going to try it out next time

Goblin ringleader and Matron, goblin sharpshooter, gema palm...
I agree... I’ve been playing goblins for a very long time also. I miss my old goblin bidding deck back when it was in standard. Goblins like goblin sledder, skirk prospector, gempalm incinerator, sparksmith, goblin sharpshooter, goblin ringleader, patriarchs bidding were so great at its time. We can make siege gang commander, goblin warchief, goblin piledriver playable again! I wish wizards would reprint our old goblins so it can bring us back to the top. I don’t see why not... we deserve it lol. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy playing some goblin burn but I do miss having that “goblin theme” where each goblin had their ability that can change a game around kind of how humans and elves have their own theme.
Jinxed Idol is my favorite secret tech from this list. Like you say Binmaa10 I suppose Jund would hate to sacrifice his value creatures to it, which is what makes it so strong in the mid-late game. And even if they do : that's fewer blockers for us anyway. So it's not just blue control decks.
@Thorshammer : yes, I haven't tested it yet but Devastating Summons has the potential to be a great finisher. You can play it and a bushwhacker at the same time to bash for a massive amount of damage and close the game. Kari Zev's Expertise is interesting but since all the creatures cost 1 it's not saving us much mana. A bushwhacker played though an expertise won't bring us the attack bonus anyway. So I can see how the trample from traitorous blood can be more useful sometimes

Hello all, if you check back in the 100's you'll see I've played Goblins for a while, but shelved it to play a stupid janky combo deck. I've been running Goblins for the last 4 weeks at my LGS (15-30 people) and I've X-0'd in either 4 or 5 rounds for the last month (except only one loss 2 weeks ago to jund). This is my list:
To be honest, the deck feels like a pile. I know my record doesn't reflect that, but unless these new Goblins make the list feel more streamlined, I think I'm out. There's almost no synergy. I'm honestly not sure why I'm just not playing burn. With my current list there are ONLY 2 REASONS to even prioritize the goblin subtype. Goblin Grenade (this one is a legitimately good reason) and Goblin Piledriver (also a good reason, but only about half the time. Definitely underrated IMO). I just don't know if it's worth playing bad cards to enable a good card (piledriver) and a stupid busted card. I am again shelving this deck. I will unshelf it when Chainwhirler comes out and try that (Lingering Souls is annoying in my meta). Honestly I'm tired of the only excitement in my modern life coming from topdecks with 0 library manipulation. Just wanted to share my list.

Hi All,
Anyone keen to test out this build, I have work on this from the midrange ponza goblins version.
Anyone else going to preorder 4 of them?
