Yeah, dude. It was devastating, yet hilarious lol. I was a naive Modern player returning from the game after an 8 year hiatus and I thought I could run Bogles every FNM without anybody wising up and preparing for me. Needless to say, that was when I started dipping into other archetypes and saving my precious Bogles for special occasions haha.
That's good metagaming by them. I ran Bogles for the longest time at my LGS and some players literally never did much to change up their MBs or even their SBs. I literally had nearly a 70% win percentage with the deck at my LGS, but I think that some players thought that they could just dodge it. We used to have 34-60 player FNMs for 5-6 rounds, so I guess there's always that chance of dodging me, but there literally were some players that never beat me on Bogles, mostly because of their deck choices.
I think it's smart to metagame vs. somebody if you have played them quite often and have a poor matchup. I literally chose most of my SB years ago at an LGS where we had 24-32 players because we were the top 2 players and would play each other in the finals quite often. It would be stupid not to.
*P.S. - Something I should have said a LONG time ago is that I love your avatar. Bernie is the man! I wish that he had been given a chance in the last election, but instead we got the Devil as our President. My dad is actually running for Congress in the CA 31st district on the "Bernie Ballot." I hope he gets there this next election, but I fear that big money and payoffs is where it is and until he learns that or gives in to that, it will be TOUGH.

What do you guys think? Though our deck is already tight as it is...
It doesn't have Hexproof - it only protects from abilities our opponents control. Also, we often only have 1-2 creatures out, so the bonus wouldn't help much. I personally believe that Gaddock Teeg is 100X better than this card.

Yeah Bogles doesnt really rely on massing a large amount of creatures. Seems like it fit best in a deck abusing tokens ala Bant Company decks using Voice of Resurgence
(Mostly just want to bump this thread up near the top.)
Does anyone plan on playing Bogles at the upcoming GP Hartford? If so, what's your list? What kind of meta do you expect? (I literally only know 1 person going and he's running Uw Turns.)

Nope, what do we think about the new Capashen card...I think it have potential if it cost 1 mana less even and gave up a keyword.
It'd still be too cute as a two drop. Out of all the auras we play, Spirit Mantle is the only "core" aura that would benefit from the ability. Even if you consider flex auras that see some sporadic play, you then have Unflinching Courage in addition to Mantle; factor in the inconsistency, legendary typing, & fact that it's a lightning rod and we're left with a lot of risk for little reward. I honestly don't think it'd be worth playing even if it were a one drop; ideally, we want to go T1 Bogle, T2 aura, T3 Daybreak Coronet. Unfortunately, Danitha doesn't help us get there any quicker and her ability just relies on too many other factors while simply not being that great in the first place.
Open the Armory is a solid example of a card that would've been amazing for us had it only cost 1 less. I'm still salty about that one.
@FoodChain Appreciate the love, dude. Best of luck to your pops; he'd have my vote if I was in that district and not on the other side of the country lol. If he hasn't already, his campaign should reach out to Justice Democrats; they currently support 52 progressives on the "Bernie ballot" and have had some great successes taking corporate dems/gop seats without accepting any form of PAC contributions.

That is a good point I suppose what it needs more quite frankly is Uril's ability of +2/+2 instead of cost reduction as you are right the curve is already super low.

He is fairly fun Voltron Commander. I prefer Rafiq but Uril is cool.

I believe I am. Right now it's fairly stock. I'm thinking I want to run a cage over the third RIP in the board just to have a bit of diversity and something against coco. I'm also looking for ways to improved control. The deck isn't actually great (UW is decent) but it's one of the sketchier match ups and I seem to run in to it at GPs.

Represent us with Bogle pride.
Make sure you have 4 Spider Umbra and 3 Hyena Umbra. Make sure you land those. Try to keep something in the hand. Consider the Detention Sphere, then Supreme Verdict or EoT Cryptic Command an Umbra, then Supreme Verdict. Try to play around Settle the Wreckage and Blessed Alliance if you can. Play 1-2 Guttural Response if you want to hedge a little, but the card is atrocious in other matchups. It can really only be used here or other Cryptic Command matchups. I think the best plan at a GP is to try to dodge poor matchups or get luckier than them.

Yeah that's basically become my GP strategy. I've gravitated toward the more linear aggressive decks for various reasons. Bogles feels like it's in a really good spot right now. I typically like to tune lists, but I kind of think sticking with what's been winning seems like the correct call this time. Thanks for the tips.
Kinda out of left field, but anybody have thoughts on the potential playability of Karn, Scion of Urza? It doesn't directly contribute to our game plan, but it offers a solid card advantage engine to colors that are lacking in that regard. I'm tempted to try out one MB copy, but I also think it could have SB potential in matchups where board wipes are a threat as we tend to dump our hand early, so something like a Supreme Verdict is often game over if we don't already have an aura and creature in-hand or fetchable dryad arbor.
Edit: Also interested in thoughts on Frenzied Rage and whether or not it strengthens the argument for exploring a Naya build.Temur Battle Rage alone had me curious about splashing red and Frenzied Rage seems like a nice complement to it, but isn't anything to write home about on its own.
Incredible! Always bittersweet news; ecstatic that the deck is doing work in this meta, but worried about when we'll hit the tipping point where packing Back to Natures & other SB hate is par for the course. I think we're still at the point where Back to Nature is just too narrow, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an uptick in something like Fracturing Gust. My local meta knows I play Bogles, but even though I switch up fairly often between Ponza and Burn, there's still a fair amount of gusts and back to natures hangin out in side boards. In response, I've been experimenting with a one-of Heroic Intervention out of the side; depending on how the meta reacts, I may up the count to two.
