Hey everyone, I haven't used mtg Salvation a ton but I'm really looking to help tune this deck
Hello all, I'm Ricky, quite glad to be posting on this forum. I've been playing Magic a little before Raise of the Eldrazi where I first experienced the joys of playing Eldrazi. This was rekindled when Oath came out and I've been looking for a good deck to play Reality Smasher and Thought-Knot Seer. I started running this deck in my school's modern league to great success, with most of my losses being due to inexperience on the deck or bad luck. Anyways I am looking forward to posting more, See you soon!
Here's the list I've been playing, the main is pretty set but I still need to work out the board.
I'm currently an Eldrazi & Taxes player and I'm interested in the BW Eldrazi Midrange build to shake things up. As my LGS packs tones of midrange decks, I figured having access to this version would be a way to adjust to my meta within the same card pool.
From my experience playing midrange decks like Grixis Death's Shadow and BW Tokens, 6 discard spells are awesome. I'm opting to favor 1 mana spells instead of Tidehollow Scullers, as I find the latter somewhat clunky with this manabase. Speed also helps. I'm also not sure about the number of relics maindeck. I see the consensus is 4, but shouldn't 3 be enough, specially when you don't want to draw multiples?
I'm also curious about the options between Reality Smasher and Blight Herder. Which one seems to be more successful in the current meta? Eldrazi Displacer seems uncommon, despite the clear value of blinking Wasteland Strangler and TKS. What is your experience with the card and why should we move away from it?
Have anyone tried Kitesail Freebooter instead of sculler? I'm playing it in eldrazi and taxes and pretty happy with it. Of course it is a card that can be pushed in response to its trigger without drawback, but the fat it is a 1/2 fly is a good upside overall. And 1B is really easier to cast...
Hi. Not sure if this question is geared to processor decks rather than taxes decks. If taxes u may wish to post in that forum. For processors I play the Herder version of the deck, rather than Smasher. I went back to Sculler from Kitesail after some, but not a lot of testng. I am comfortable with the mana base to deal with the WB cmc for Sculler and prefer its ability to also hit creatures. By all means play it and let us know your results!

yeah, the question was intended for processors. I originally was a processor player (smasher version with 4 scullers) and migrated to taxes last season... But I am always tinkering the processor.dec. I feel Kitesail would be more interesting because I really want to run 4 mutavaults, which is a turn 1 card that really slows down sculler. It I was in blight herder more controllish plan, I would go sculler and five 1cmc discards. With smasher I play only 3 seizes and no inquisitions.
Also, tho I am nor sure - and maybe someone who knows for sure can clarify - but I think Kitesail Freebooter ability is not as good as Tidehollow Sculler. The wording is different. I believe that with Kitesail, if it is destroyed while trigger is on the stack, you don't get to exile opponent card forever like you do with Tidehollow. You only get to look at opponent's hand. I often don't mind when someone Paths my Sculler with trigger on stack as I get to see hand a forever exile a card.....
Tidehollow is the most chosen primarily due to the wording and the amazing interaction with displacer. Kitesail is not what we are looking for though. If we drop the sculler build i would actually max out stranglers and insert more removal and tks/iok.
Sculler is better disruption than Freebooter without a doubt, but it can almost never attack, and it is so demanding on the manabase. I'd be tempted to test it for sure if I pick this deck up again.
I read alot of pages and i see the Primer isnt updated yet with fatal push (unless thats not good for this deck)
Where can i find a competitive starting decklist thats up to date?
Did anyone take notice that a BW eldrazi processor list went 8-2 at the pro tour? I believe it's the identical list to the one that took down Grand Prix Kobe last year.
I've got GP Toronto this weekend so I'm going to give it a spin. The mutavaults are the only cards I don't own. I wonder how this deck would play out with ghost quarter instead of the vaults. I don't really understand the surgical in the deck without GQ's as there's not many times I'd bring in surgical where I wasn't wanting to target lands. Can anyone think of what matchups surgical are coming in against? I'm guessing fulminator comes in on those same matchups but seems kind of weak without the GQ's but would love to hear why mutavault is overall a better card in the deck as obviously the lists that have done well have 4 mutavaults. for reference here is the decklist

How do you guys fight blood moon? I normally go 5-1 at my local, and my only loss is ALWAYS from a blood moon being sided on me.
Ratchet bomb is your answer.
Play a couple disenchants (which hits moon and boggles auras, lantern, coralhelm...) instead of stony silence, beside the anguished unmaking. If you're on ghost quarter, go slow and GQ a shock or dual land for a plains. Playing 3 to 4 Marsh flats is a must also. then path your own token/drazi for a waste. Blood moon is often played by decks that can't compete with us in power, so if they spend time setting up a moon, probably their hand is weak enough so we can also set up an out to the moon. Once you realize pathing a spirit token will ramp you into smasher/TKS, you're good.

This works amazingly well IF you run a Wastes in the 75, which can be difficult in a Sculler build.
Sure, forgot that some builds drifted away from wastes because of sculler. Which reminds me why I changed from sculler to Kitesail Freebooter in my Taxes list and will be testing the pirate in processors as well. I'll report as soon as i get some results!
I'm curious about whether Unclaimed Territory is worth slotting in? I've put together a budget version and have slotted it in to help with casting Sculler but am unsure whether its worth it. For reference my decklist atm is:
Even with the territories you are running 10 lands that don't help you cast him and only 10 that can cast him. That does not seem like a good ratio for a double color requirement 2 drop that is best on curve.
Hello guys. I posted this on the B-W eldrazi midrange thread, but this one seems way more alive... This list is not exactly processor, but I find it very similar.
Im a lover of b/w, most of my decks have the Orzhov colors in them. This is, by far, my favorite color combination. I have been playing b/w planeswalker and even if im sad to not play smallpox in this deck, I really want to cast powerful spells.
I want to start playing this deck just so I can cast TKS and Liliana in the same deck, is it too much to ask??
Im not playing on a budget since I have all the expensives b/w cards. Here is the list I plan on testing as soon as I get my hand on the eldrazi cards :
Side
3 stony silence
3 nihil spellbomb
1 pithing needle
3 fulminator mage
1 fragmentize
1 kembal, consul of allocation
1 Collective brutality
2 Damnation
Now I will go over some of my choices
Creatures
4 of all the overpowered eldrazi and 2 displacer. Im not sure about these 2, maybe Endbringer would be straight better, but it's a bit expensive at 6 mana. Still, this deck have no card draw and have a hard time dealing with tokens, so maybe 2x Endbringer is what we need as a top end?
I want to live the dream of getting my reshaper killed and get a free liliana of the veil
0 tidehollow sculler. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Sculler (wich have one of my favorite artwork in mtg) but I find it underpowered in this list and hard to cast. With so many removals in the format, our opponent will likely get his card back and I feel like with all our discard, having a weak 2drop is not where i want to be
0 Wasteland stranger. Powerfull card when it's working, very bad when it's not. As a midrange deck, i don't to rely on synergy. Also, this card put some pressure on the deck building because we need more exile effects to make him worth it (path and relic). If I wanted to play this card, i would go for Eldrazi Processor.
Instant and Sorcery
4 push, 2 path, 2 brutality. Tota of 8 removals. Priority on push because i want to rely less on white mana on the early turn. Still the best removal spell. There is, i think, no reason to not play it in this deck. Dismember is an option (im loving the card in 8 Rack) but path is a clean answer.
3 Inquisition, 3 Thoughtseize. Im not sure about this split, but 6 discard spells (8 with brutality, 12 with lili and 16 with TKS) seems enough.
4 lingering souls. Best card in the deck, one of my favorite on the whole format. Even better when it's basically free discard with brutality and liliana.
Planeswalkers
4 veil, 1 last hope. Veil is overpowered, wich is why I can't see myself not running it. Last hope is great to deal with opponents tokens and to get us back eldrazi. I could see a 3-2 split depending on the meta.
0 sorin, gideon. 4 mana planeswalker is not where i want to be. We don't have enough tokens to make sorin solemn visitor +1 very good. Also, they don't go into the battlefield with reshaper.
Manabase
Damn it was hard to build! So many possibilities.
3 ghost quarter for tron players and man land. They could be field of ruins, but i don't like the fact i can just get T3 karn on the draw because field of ruins cost 2 to activate
2 Urborg. Better consistency for the BB spells. Can also bluff on turn 1 that we are on some pox build. Only 2 because we don't want dead cards in hand and being abble to play our eldrazi on time is key.
1 sea gate wreckage. I already said we don't have card draw, that's why i included it. It still might not be good enough…
0 ifnir deadland. Seems good, basically a 2 colors land in our deck. But i think we need more removals.
0 vault of thr archangel. I would like to play this card to break the midrange mirror. Maybe instead of the third ghost quarter
2 fetches for blood moon, but only 3 basic. We are very greedy with our mana haha… I Like it
Side
3 stony silence. This is the reason i have no mind stone in the main. This card is too good to pass against Affinity, lantern and tron.
3 nihil spellbomb. Cantrip and exile graveyard. I chose it over rest in peace because of lingering souls.
3 fulminator mage. For tron, control and valakut. Especially good with last hope.
1 kembal, 1 Collective brutality. For burn and storm.
1 pithing needle. For a variaty of matchup, from Affinity to control to lantern.
1 fragmentize. For white leyline, lantern and Affinity. Maybe I will play 2 (over the needle) depending of the meta.
2 Damnation. For aggro matchup.
Building a sideboard is very hard when you never actually played the deck. This is a rought draft.
Hope I don't come across as too much of a Negative Nellie here, but hopefully I can save some recent commenters some time with my own experience playing this deck.
I'm curious about whether Unclaimed Territory is worth slotting in? I've put together a budget version and have slotted it in to help with casting Sculler but am unsure whether its worth it.
I'm sorry to say that this list doesn't work, because it's not nearly color-intensive enough in the land base to cast the non-creature spells. Frank Karsten has written some articles that are absolute gold for deck building:
Anyone who hasn't read these yet and who values building or tweaking their own lists, should read them right away and probably bookmark these two links.
In short, TardisDad, The Territorys (and Fields, and Vault, and Grounds, and Wreckage, etc.) are going to prevent you from casting your Inquisitions, Paths, etc. This deck has a surprisingly difficult manabase. You need a TON of B/W duals to play Sculler on-curve and then also play your instants and sorceries as well. Playing duals on-curve means a fetch/shock manabase, which is bound to increase the cost of this deck.
I want to start playing this deck just so I can cast TKS and Liliana in the same deck, is it too much to ask??
Well, again, I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but... yeah, it's probably too much to ask.
Lili decks almost always play a 2 CMC threat BEFORE they play Lili. They also tend to max out at 3 CMC, with only one or two four-drops in the main in the higher-curve Abzan lists. What Lili is going to do is to make you discard either the big Eldrazi you want to cast, or the land you need in order to cast it.
Processor lists aren't good because of Strangler and Herder's exile-effect bonuses. They're good because maindeck Relic is much better than most people reckon with, PLUS the processing value (when it happens), PLUS the amazing OGW Eldrazi cards, PLUS the fact that they run some of the best B/W cards in the format--just not Liliana of the Veil.
I agree the manabase isnt great. I'd much rather have copies of Godless Shrine and Marsh Flats but as I said, its a budget version so that area is one where I'm working with what I've got until I can afford those lands. Any suggestions for improving it short of adding those?
