Hi there, juste to let you know, things are going smoothly in GP lyon, just qualified for day 2 with our U-tron. I'm so happy right now... The deck is still really good, I hope those recents unbannings won't be too impactful.
Any other U-tron player got there?

bad news! But why? I know he seems unhappy about u tron since several weeks but stopp playing ? Please not
@Pierakor are you truly leaving us? I have finish watching all your videos reason why i'm with renew interest and hopes for the deck, please don't leave us!
I don't see your deck here. Which place were you ranked at?
Well Day 2 didn't go as good as day 1. :'(
I finished 261th at a final record of 9/6 , so no Pro point for me...
Lost the toss against burn/affinity/boggles.. They beat me but I was on the verge on winning some games... Guess the general exhaustion of playing so much magic in a row also caused me to make some misplays against some decks.
End of day 2, I lost to poison/ jeskai control (my misplay)/burn/affinity/boggles/traverse shadow.
I could have won against jeskai control and shadow if I didn't misplay.
If I had the toss, I probably would have won against burn and boggles...
Could'nt do much better against poison and affinity (mulligan to 5)...
I'm still pretty happy about my first day 2. I didn't play angel, could have been a mistake.E-Explosives would have been good also.
Ugin was a no-show for 2 days, that's a bummer.
Chalice of the void was an absolute star all weekend. I played it on 0, being on the play game 1, two times, with an island and a repeal, if I wasn't against a mox-based deck. Turns out I encountered a thopter/tezzerator deck in day 1 and it was golden against him...
All my side-board cards were usefull in a way or another, so that's that.
Hat's up to @Pierakor, his decklists and video really helped me to get better with the deck... I also tested a lot, but it's good to have a different point of view.
I don't know if I'll keep playing the deck in the future. I'll stick around for a bit and see what the meta is about...

"He raged at the world, at his family, at his life. But mostly he just raged."
So I've done some analysis for the following 3 decks to figure out why U-Tron is so inconsistent.
And I think the main reason is the mana source, and obviously, the lack of a good removal. I'll explain why:
(The decklists were borrowed from the most notable decklists from mtggoldfish)
MB Mana/Spell Colors - 18x U Spells / 10x U Sources (14x if you include Expedition Map)
First of all, I completely understand every deck runs differently so it's not right to directly compare an archetype to another.
I believe Mono-U Tron is a very unique deck in that it plays like a combo or a Gx Tron deck, but its main gameplan is that of a control deck. The thing is that Mono-U severely lacks removal compared to other control decks so it has bad matchup (pre-board) against almost every aggro deck in the meta (which is around 50% of the current metagame). I think the deck actually plays a lot like Storm in that you use counterspells to get to your wincons. The problem is that U-Tron lacks the manabase to consistently use most of its spells AND it relies heavily on the fact that you will almost always have more mana than your opponent. So missing a land drop puts you behind. It's a deck where keeping a 5-6 lander could actually be the correct answer because it has SO many cantrips, but again, this is if you have the blue source. I believe that this is the MAIN reason why the deck loses to itself very often with you not being able to cast a lot of your cards.
- Jeskai Control has 97% chance to draw at least 1 blue source in their opening hand.
- Mono-G Tron has 81% chance to draw at least 1 green source in their opening hand.
- Mono-U Tron has 74% chance to draw at least 1 blue source in their opening hand.
I think the deck needs more consistent ways to get blue sources to perform better, using cards like Talismans and Solemn Simulacrum. I first thought it was the cantrips and card advantages that we were lacking that was causing the deck to perform inconsistently. But this is not true as the deck has probably the most cantrips and card draws in the format aside from certain combo decks and Death's Shadow. It's just that we spend the first few turns doing nothing or not having the access to a blue source to do something interactive that puts us far behind. And Modern is a format where the first few turns are essential to a lot of decks.
I don't actually know how to fix this as the decklist is already tight enough. What do you guys think?
Oh and seriously, so much respect to Shoktroopa who's been piloting this deck to great success for years. I just don't know how.
More blue is easy to change, this is not our Problem. Aether vial and caverns is it. Cheap spells making our remand now Bad is it. In the past merfolk and elves used only vial and cavern, but now humane Tier 1 too...everywhere caverns.
R1: U/w Gideon Stuff. Won 2-0. Cyclonic rift cleaned house both games. Resolved JtMS G2 but was in a commanding spot regardless.
R2: Humans. Loss 0-2 G1 as I was going to stabilize he landed Reflector Mage. G2 got run over by mantis rider and phantasmal image.
R3: Ad Nasuem: Won 2-1. Lost 1st game due to blowing an early counter on bloom coming off suspend. Just save counters for Ad Naus. Won G2 on mull to 5 with natural tron and slaver. Found spoils of the vault with serum vision and named slaver LOL! G3: countered the right spells and won with slaver again.
R4: Humans. Loss 0-2. I'll take input on this matchup if anyone has any advice.
R5: RUG with tarmo and Jace. Won 2-0. I am excited to battle these decks as our deck wants slow derpy decks like this. I think the BUG versions will be much harder with thoughtsiezes.
3-2. Humans is not winnable unless they perfrom poorly and we have it all.
Any other opinions, please!?
All-in-all not sold on JtMS anymore. The card will be one of those "meta" call cards rather than a core card.
Our deck is about to be perfectly positioned. Jace only helps us.
No need to veer from pierakor list, if altering anything id add 1EE and 2 support mana either river or talismans, other than humans and merfolk no decks really blow us out. we have a fighting chance against our other hard match ups and eat control and other trons for breakfast. and as meta shifts to more lightning bolts I think we are gonna be great.
Not sure why you are trying Jaces, the veterans of the deck know he doesn't fit what we are trying to do. The hype is real but jace does not win us anything. Also everyone always rips on torrential because of double blue but not a single person mentions jace needing double blue by turn 4? cmon people lay offthe hype stick.
JACE HELPS US BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE WILL CRAM HIMNTO THEIR 75 AND WE GAIN HUGE ADVANTAGES
I'm not playing Jace anytime soon, not with so little blue sources... I agree with what was said earlier : We have a little consistency problem as we need to have a blue source pretty early in the game, so we don't lose to ourselves. Vial and caverns are a problem cause we rely heavily on counterspells, and not having access to good early-game removals was tough in the old meta (well, we have dismember, but it's a pain to pay 4 life each time we cast it)... It probably won't change now either.
Concerning consistency, I added an Island in my deck to have more blue sources... It felt great playing with the list, but I was quite eluctent to make the change because it meant having a 61 card-deck, not knowing what to cut... It looks terrible at first sight, but really, it was worth trying. I tested such weird Blue-Tron configuration before that, so I thought "Why not?"...
