Hi, I'm new to this board and new to Magic in general (been playing for about a month). I have an idea for building a deck in Modern that ramps to quickly play See the Unwritten. The main payoff is hopefully a Worldspine Wurm my opponent can't answer
Ramp creatures, plus card draw from the Visionary and a little resilience from the Caryatid (hexproof).
3x Cavalier of Thorns
These thin the deck, and are a decent body on the board. If they get killed, I get to choose a card to put on top of my library from the graveyard. This allows me to pick what I need, whether it is more ramp, creatures, etc.
2x Scavenging Ooze
Help with graveyard management, and can potentially grow to be big threats.
3x Cragplate Baloth
A threat that is hard to remove and I should be able to ramp to early. At least should be a resilient board presence
2x Worldspine Wurm
My finisher. Even if killed or discarded, gets put back in the library. When killed, replaced by 3 5/5 wurms.
4x Utopia Sprawl
3x Cultivate
4x Bond of Flourishing
Card draw, ramp, and deck thinning.
3x See the Unwritten
The goal of the deck. If I can have a Scavenging ooze at 4/4 or better, Cavalier of Thorns, or Baloth on the board, I can add 2 large creatures for 6 mana.
2x Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
Another potential wincon that I think this deck can ramp to.
21x Forests
3x Castle Garenbrig
I haven't put much thought into the Lands yet, suggestions are welcome.
Sorry for the long first post, but I wanted to hear from more experienced brewers before I started buying cards! Are there big, fundamental flaws? Can it be competitive with tier 1 and tier 2 decks? I haven't put much thought into a Sideboard yet. Thanks for reading, and thanks for any responses in advance!
