What do you think about adding Cyclonic Rift? Maybe 1 or 2, instead of a Snapback and/or a Void Snare. Since the deck is slow, we could potentially cast it for it's overload cost, cleaning the board during the oppo's EOT.

I've been trying this for my last couple of leagues. I, like a lot of others, have noticed that Snapback is cast for two most of the time anyways, so why not add the flexibility Rift gives in that spot to hit any permanent, or better yet, ALL permanents?
I really like the idea of an Esper version of this deck, and have given it a try.
Not using Commander at the moment; playing around with it more might prove that it ought to be included. Perhaps Modern Horizons will give us some new toys as well..
Is not playing Commander a huge mistake? Have not done enough playtesting with/without it yet, but leaving it out seems fine. Teferi, Time Raveler along with Void Snare seems to be able to handle most situations, and by adding Pteramander we have a finisher as well as a few extra 1 cmc cards. A full playset of Supreme Verdict gives us the means to handle creature decks; along with our other utility cards this should give us a fair chance.
The reason that Snapback is so important is because if you want to jam Narset on T3 and make sure she survives, at least against creatures (say because you get to Day's Undoing next turn), this is the only card that will let you tap out for and protect Narset, since she can't protect herself (though she does help find her protection). The other use this thing has is the ability to cast it for free the turn you cast Day's Undoing, assuming you only have 3 or 4 mana, and not 5. This lets you bounce a threat and wheel it away instead of having to choose if you want to possibly kill it with Tyrant's Scorn (assuming it meets the criteria), pass back to them and bounce it at the end of their turn, or go ahead and wheel and deal with it sticking around and probably killing Narset again. These are all very important reasons why Snapback was chosen. Tyrant's Scorn is what you play out of the board when you need things to die on T2 (aggro matchups), whereas Snapback is more of an anti-midrange card, when you need to tap out to jam your combo piece.

Now as for new toys, that's a different discussion to have concerning how many Commandeer (auto win against tron sticking potent noncreature spells), vs Disrupting Shoal (can actually counter creatures) get cut or moved around for Force of Negations.

Not if you gain control of Ugin, the Spirit Dragon with it. Ugin SD's pretty much only a Bolt machine against Gx Tron. Gaining control of Oblivion Stone is better, but they can play a lone Karn Liberated into it and force you to crack it, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger both pops and ignores it, and you need to pop O. Stone in response to Karn, the Great Creator being cast. In testing, though, gaining control of Karn GC has often been good enough, even with an artifact-light sideboard.
I found that I cannot consistently cast any pitch spell after one Draw 7 (mainly because the proper pitch spell didn't come). I also tend to lean harder on Notion Thief against creature decks and popping Narset P for CA against stuff like Jund that has no problem killing both.
Force of Negation going to be a staple in this archetype? Replacing shoal perhaps? Commandeer? With Force of Negation and Snapback we can exile one to the other depending on whether we need to remove a creature or stop a noncreature spell
Last Wednesday Night I played a small 3 round competitive event at my LGS, and really enjoyed the deck. I only dropped games to UW Control in the final round. I got my single Narset sucked up by a D. Sphere, and then in the second game only ever saw one land for ages. I probably should have mulliganed, but I had tons of ways to interact, and my plan (which was successful) was to Commandeer the Search for Azcanta and use it to filter to land. Unfortunately I had to flip it and let it eat a Field of Ruin just to get a land. I look-binned/drew no lands for 6 turns. Pretty bad. Friday Night Magic was less impressive. I met with two of what I feel may be our worst matchups, Burn and Humans. The second Burn game I always felt a topdeck away from closing it out, and in the second Humans game I landed Notion Thief/Day's Undoing into the wrong half of my deck, especially considering that he had Cavern of Souls. I also lost to the new Blue Moon with Ral, Storm's Conduit, but both of those games felt close. All in all, it felt super weird. I'm wondering if we have any ways to up the consistency. Also contemplating Boomerang for the deck.
What do I play? Well, a lot of stuff. But I LOVE PRISON DECKS.
Standard - Esper Acquisition Control, Mardu Spawn Aggro (for funsies)
Modern - Mono-green Control, Artifact Prison, Wx Enchantment Prison, whatever strikes my fancy at the moment
Legacy - Manaless Dredge, High Tide, recently Pox, The Antiquities War

Thanks for the results! What list were you playing?
I played a basic list minus one Snapback and tested the new Kefnet. I’m not really sure why outside of just liking the idea of a creature that we could get back from removal. I also had two Misthollow Griffins in the sideboard instead of Relic of Progenitus (not sure the card is actually right for the deck, plus I have little graveyard shenanigans in my local meta). Tormod’s Crypt or Crypt Incursion may actually be better for us due to recursion with shuffle effects. I would also like to try out Guile in the deck (because I want that card to be great so badly). Deck is very fun, but I need to figure out what hands are keepable a little more precisely.

Hi there,
I'm new to the forums but I have taken an interest in this deck. So, I thought I would pitch in (see what I did there?)
Anyway I played the deck (the exact list from the primer) in a local Thursday night Modern tournament and didn't do terrible.
The MUs were:
Lantern 2-0
Mono G Tron 2-1
Phoenix 1-2 (lol)
Gb Elves 2-0
I can elaborate more on how the MUs felt, if you're interested. For now I want to suggest a few changes to the deck and why.
Now, what did I do with the deck? When I was playing, most of my problems came from the inability to interact with the board in a favourable way. Once something slips our counters the going gets rough. I think most people here have understood that so far. That's why in the primer humans, burn, etc. are listed as our bad MUs. Additionally I felt like sometimes I was forced to chump with my Lore Broker just to keep my Narset, Parter of Veils around... not the greatest combo piece in the world. Also, since we are so creature light it draws a lot of removal, which makes it quite unreliable.
I had games where I played the broker and it was actively bad because it did not impact the board and I didn't want to loot with it since my opponent was struggling.
So, I decided to cut it and replace it with another 2 drop: Thing in the Ice.
Thing blocks for our Narset, Thing bounces the board and Thing kills quickly. It is especially pretty when you can bounce the board and lead into a Day's Undoing (like Engulf the Shore, but not as *****ty)
To accomodate for the Thing I had to adjust the creature count. I cut some V Cliques (moved to SB) and added some 1 mana cantrips, which fulfill the role of the looting with the Lore Broker and take a counter off our Thing in the Ice.
But Lore Broker was fulfilling an importent role once we reach our lock. Yes, that's why I upped the count of Geier Reach Sanitarium. To be honest I always felt like it was the better, more reliable combo piece anyway... That it costs 2 to activate never bothered me since at that point our opponent is basically locked out of the games and I can make land drops until I win.
So all of this to say: Lore Broker out, Thing in the Ice in.

What do you think?
First off thanks for the feedback, I like the brewing with TITI, have been testing with it myself, actually.
Just to be clear: you played the stock list in the tournament?
Anyways, how did you manage to 2-0 elves? Seems to me that it can be a pretty rough matchup, though not nearly as bad as humans etc.
Now about the new list you posted:
Have you thought about a few Teferi's Puzzle Box in place of Lore Broker?
Has TITI felt like enough in creature matchups to not have any wrath effects in the sideboard? Tolaria West has been pretty sweet in my games so far, and I like the inclusion here especially after cutting brokers.
Also: you mentioned it briefly, but I would like to stress how important it is that Thing in the Ice is able to flip from casting Day's Undoing, doing the Engulf the Shore trick but for 3 mana instead of 7.
Hi! I have a question for you people.
With the new MH additions, how is this deck compared to classic mono blue control?
You see this being more powerfull due the narset/undoing combo or are just differents decks that cannot be compared?
It's less combo focused and plays more like mono blue control/tempo that can make use of the Narset/Days Undoing combo. I based it off of a UW deck that went 5-0 recently online, and used a similar game-plan. Hopefully Thing in the Ice and Spellstutter Sprite will shore up the game vs aggro somewhat. All thoughts welcome!
Hello Narset's people, I would like to discuss the new card Echo of Eons, do you think it will replace day's undoing?
What about Teferi's Puzzle Box? it seems very strong with Narsets and Thiefs.
I read mtgsalvation is closing. does anyone know any other good forums? Thank you in advance.

I'm not completely sure Echo of Eons will replace Day's Undoing. On the one hand, it's pretty loot-friendly, and we do have some looting. On the other hand, I suspect all the maindeck and sideboard graveyard hate currently in Modern won't go down completely post-Modern Horizons (too many people experimenting with Life from the Loam decks and Wrenn and Six, UR Phoenix getting 1-4 new cards and not much in the way of hate directed at it, Gx Tron won't get injured enough by Collector Ouphe), the looting doesn't always come, and 6 cmc is in an awkward spot in the Disrupting Shoal curve.
I've tried Teferi's Puzzle Box instead of 2 Day's Undoing, and I love it. It locks people with Narset, Parter of Veils/Notion Thief so much better, and you can generally kill your opponent before they can find instant-speed hate. I haven't really missed the lower number of pitchable cards.
Sadly, I suspect MTG Salvation is the best forum for Modern, and it may not even be close. The sub-Reddits often have extensive discussion for specific decks, though.
In the meantime, has anyone else seen those 2 Mono-Blue Narset Midrange decks in today's MTGO Modern Challenge results? They seem like a natural evolution of this deck, complete with Day's Undoing and pitch spells. I keep thinking that Teferi's Puzzle Box would be great in them, though.
I saw this morning and well, seems pretty interesting, but i miss Notion Thief in this list, i really like the card. Are you testing this "new" version?? Im very interested, already im building the conley woods version (link to the twitch league: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/431354001 ) and looking to include Thing in the ice. Thoughts?
In the matter of "Mtgsalvation is closing" i read that closes this month, so in thtat case, will be reddit the new way? There are so many post about magic, but nothing so concentrated as Mtgsalvation.

those lists are similar to what I'm running at the moment, which is an hybrid between this deck and taking turns.
i really hope a new forum like this emerges. subreddits are incredibly dispersive and difficult to navigate.

Interesting point about Eons mana cost. Other than Wurmcoils and Titans, not much relevant stuff that I can think that costs 6. You totally could counter a Mindslaver, but Academy Ruins is bringing it back anyways. lol.
I expected that, because both Notion Thief and Narset, Parter of Veils, along with Teferi's Puzzle Box, is very hard to deal game one for many decks, not everyone has instant speed answers, along with Snapback, just sounds insane.
I seen Whir Prison made 8-0 with susurrus_mtg. I happen to play with his Prison idea in paper, so I watch sometimes his stream. Unfortunately he didn't play any Narset Pitch match-ups, only 3 UW that were using Narsets. The Mono U version of it seems to lose power without Notion Thief, I also think black lets you access good answers like Fatal Push, Unmoored Ego and etc. Could even throw either Ashiok, just for the jankness of it.
Its a shame MTGSalvation is closing, I never found anything near as good. If anyone knows, please share with us.
For those of you who wish to continue on with our community here, the staff and I have begun building a new home. We'll announce and discuss the prospect when it is more concrete and closer to completion.
. So, in theory, we will have a home in whatever that becomes. If not then I guess reddit is my next idea? Something like Tappedout.net could work also, and at least it has card previews in the client instead of reddit's image host-link bot thingy.
Anyways, I will definitely be taking the Narset Pitch Blue discussion somewhere, just not entirely sure where yet. Let me know what you guys think is best.
Do you folks have thoughts on how to play Disrupting Shoal correctly? (Specifically with regard to T1 discard spells).
Let's say my opening hand is:
2x Island, Serum Visions, Disrupting Shoal, Narset, End of Days, Remand
I'm on the draw. On my opponent's T1, they play Inquisition of Kozilek. Do I counter it with Shoal?
What if my opening hand is:
2x Island, Serum Visions, Disrupting Shoal, Remand, Snapback, Field-Mist Borderpost
Again, I'm on the draw. On my opponent's T1, they play Inquisition of Kozilek. Do I counter it with Shoal?
This is always a tough one. On one hand, countering it makes their Inquisition more efficient, but on the other hand, you get to keep Narset in hand with enough lands to play her, as well as some card draw and interaction. If you have thief in hand and it's an Inquisition and not a Thoughtseize, I would say let it resolve because you get to keep your combo piece regardless.
So I've been looking at building this recently, and wanted to ask about matchups. I've looked at the primer, and unless I'm completely oblivious it doesn't mention matchups. What are the good matchups for this deck?
Matchup discussion can be found in the "Matchups" section of the primer,(click "The Good, The Bad and The Funky" to expand them) though it is a somewhat broad overview because the matchups heavily depend on what version of the deck you are running/what cards you have in the sideboard etc. Another good place to look is the sideboarding/alternate card choices section because I go over more in-depth what specific cards do against specific decks.
Anyways, I will definitely be taking the Narset Pitch Blue discussion somewhere, just not entirely sure where yet. Let me know what you guys think is best.

Anyways, I will definitely be taking the Narset Pitch Blue discussion somewhere, just not entirely sure where yet. Let me know what you guys think is best.
I link this primer on a mono blue reddit, its pretty empty, but dont know where publish it. Heres the link https://www.reddit.com/r/Monobluemagic/comments/bw9hef/pitch_blue_narset_combo/
