Played last week and had a bad week. I lost to mono black devotion in 3 games. Lost to Humans and then B/G Frogtown. Frogtown game two ghost quarter locked me. If you haven’t had that happen to you, let me tell ya...it’s a blast. I did beat foiled out Eldrazi Tron. Winning against them made me happy, but it happens.
hey guys!! I just invested some hundreds and bought this deck because it's incredibly fun to play and so strong!!
I was wondering if 4 dismembers are really necessary to the core strategy, or if it's possible to play something else instead, like some ratchet bombs or spacial contortion perhaps and free a few sideboard slots this way... 4 life points per kill seem like a harsh cost to pay.
Also, I was wondering why most lists play Ghost quarter instead of tectonic edge. The card seems superior in many of our bad matchups, and it's not as strong as people think against tron. What do you think?
Please read this entire thread after you read Jordan's articles on modernnexus.com. Most questions can be answered from doing those things. Short answer on dismember is because it's a dead card in less, and a more effective card in more, MUs than any of the other cards you mentioned. 4 life isn't really anything, nor is 8 if you cleared out a blocker and cut a turn or even two off of your clock to deal lethal.
The meta I'm going into for a monthly comp REL tournament this weekend has a decent amount of tron in it. I'm thinking of cutting the 3rd scavenger grounds (2nd sea gate slot) for 1 tec edge. Otherwise my list is still Jordan's Classic winner. I know there will be RG eldrazi, all variants of tron and of course burn, robots, blue decks, normal modern gamut. Does anyone have any other suggestions besides 1 tec edge? Field of ruin costs too much mana to be a 5th GQ. Should we run 1 map to tutor up GQ? I don't like that idea. I know it's an unfavored MU anyway, just figured we had the 1 slot to play with.

It can also be good in a lot of the same MUs as the 3rd spatial anyway.

I'd advise keeping all three Spatials and cutting the 4th Bomb which is flex. There's also some argument to be made for a Needle/Spyglass split since drawing both together can impact your sequencing positively. Spyglass is especially useful if you are afraid of Tron specifically, since we Chalice them for the filter rocks but it can still come down to block Stones.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.

Thoughts on running 1 endless one instead of a mimic? I know Jordan was running a split with reshaper but I love reshaper and board out mimics way more often. Endless one does "combo" with mimic though. I just think I value the reshaper trigger more than the synergy with mimic.
Bombs for Unlife/labman and their mana rocks, chalice on 1 and TKS ASAP. I went -2 dismember, -2 reshaper, -1 smuggler, +1 needle, +4 bomb (or 3/1 spyglass). Name Lightning Storm with needle. It's not a super fast combo so having t2-3 TKS/chalice on 1 is fine after a needle on t1-2. That being said, getting a clock down ASAP is required.

I'm actually curious about the Hollow One MU because I haven't played it yet. I'm thinking for sbing: +4 Relic, +1 Surgical, +3 Spatial, -1 Gemstone/(Tec Edge/3rd Scavenger/2nd Sea Gate), -1 Copter, -3 Mimic, -3 SSG. I still want to be able to t1 Chalice and Mimic can chump Flameblade Adept with another guy so I'm basically just hedging there. It's an aggro MU so I take out a land (do they have Moon?) and Spatial kills all of their small critters and lets us trade our small ones with their 4/4s and 5/5s, and they might bring in grudge or something and copter seems reasonable to cut then.
I think you are right on. I play a trinisphere in the side that I bring in here. really shuts them down. in the future I'll try damping sphere as well. this card hurts other decks a lot more than it hurts us.
Hollow One matchup is actually fine. Chalice is great. relic and surgical are good. dismember is great.
the problem card is phoenix. just have to try and grab it with relic or surgical.
This is what I did for Hollow One and it works really well. Definitely Surgical Phoenix, it is their best card.

Yeah, Grafdiggers cage works too, that or warping wail are really the only things we could do about it that come to the mind atm. It’s like any other combo deck tbh, hit the card with thought knot or beat them down before they draw it.

Taking problem cards out of your opponents deck, blanking snapcasters and shrinking goyfs, and being able to effectively draw 3 if you surgical your own Eternal scourge is amazing. I'm seriouly considering straight up cutting two chalice to the board to play 2 surgical in the main, since surgicaling scourge feels like it gives free wins in the matchups where chalice is usually bad.

Hi guys, first of thank you Jordan for all your guides I am really enjoying the deck. I am having a hard time againt's a few decks in my local game store and i am seeking advise or tips againt's Humans specifically. I am using Jordan's Pre-Dominaria list and i have not beaten this guy for a couple of games now. I can't help but feel i always run out of gas and then we always end up in a stand still until he gets his flyers out late game and me having used up my removals on his other creatures or they simply just snowball and grow fast that i can't even attack at all. I have been playing this deck for about a month now and what i use to run before was GX Tron and Eldrazi Tron. I swore to lock them both up inside my cabinet until i get to master Jordan's Serum Eldrazi. All help will be very much appreciated and more power to you all spaghetti lovers!

We don't really care about damping sphere. Too slow imo

Other than chalice, I found it hard to interact.

What has spyglass to do with sphere ? They don't interact with each other.
