I'm wanting to know your thoughts on the smuggler's copter spots I keep getting the feeling that often copter is either dying in my hand because of competing for turn 2 -5 or way too late after I'm running out of threats and wish it was just something else am I missing something in the casting priority?
Is this your feeling too? I know it solves an issue for us is new Karn a better fit I feel half the time I would like the flex ability if I have a fast hand copter dies in my hand anyway so turn 3-4 before more card draw coming down seems like not a big issue.

Karn is better against control decks but I don't think it's necessary in those matchups. Copter solves issues against value-style aggro decks that gum up the board, like Coralhelm, which otherwise can be tough to beat---it draws us into removal and soars over the battlefield. Another key function of the card is to unbrick slower hands, so in a sense it's like Powder in our openers. For example, if we lack Temple but have three lands, turn two Copter into turn three Scourge lets us start hitting for 3 right away, as though we'd had Temple on turn two after all. Have written plenty on Copter over at Nexus and if you check the last few pages of this thread you will find direct links to my articles on the card. I still run 2. Good luck!
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
I shaved down to one Copter for a week and missed it. Being able to filter away trash in midrange matchups is awesome. Plus you can pace your attacks to play around Settle the Wreckage, and it's also good against sorcery speed sweepers. Love the card and happy to play two.

I finally broke down and got MTGO last night. The interface seems like a pretty steep curve, but even so, in the Tournament Practice room I'm 5-1, with my only loss so far coming from an accidental match concession when I meant to concede a game to Jund. Deck feels great. I'm playing Jordan's current list except with 2 Spyglasses in the board, partially because Surgical is $45 online and I'm not spending that quite yet.
Seems like playing more online is going to improve my game quite a bit, especially once I get confident enough with the interface to start playing Leagues. I only get to play in paper once a week, so this is going to multiply how much Magic I play by about fivefold.

If you're using MTGO I highly recommend gathering some data on your deck. There is MORT, which gathers information for you by scanning your replay folder and processes the data, though it isn't super pretty, or just an excel document. I had one that kept track of things of serum powders, chalice on turn one, TKS on turn two or earlier, and more. It also kept track of my opening hand, which led me to understand how great gemstone caverns were/ are.
If you want my excel document(or in other words want to painstakingly enter data after every game) let me know, otherwise, MORT is for you.

Assassin’s Trophy is already annoying. Having extra efficient removal for Thought-Knot and Smasher could make the green-based decks, which are normally easy matchups, a little harder. Also might need to up the Wastes count.
For those of you with experience with MTGO: what's the competition level difference between the tournament practice, friendly league, and competitive leagues?

Comp league is definitely the way to go for the best competition and facing meta decks. Friendly leagues are the next best, though you might face some rogue decks. I only use tournament practice to get familiar with a new deck.
I'm still learning the interface, so I've been in the practice rooms mostly.
I have played two friendly leagues, though. The first one was when I was still basically new to the software, and I went 2-3 against I forget what.
But I just finished my second friendly league and went 4-1.
2-1 against Jeskai Control. Chalice on one both games I won, and locked out with the Azcanta / Jace / Teferi engines the game I lost.
0-2 against Merfolk. Blind Chalice on one did precisely nothing against them. I'm not super familiar with the deck, since most Vial players have migrated to Humans. Did some sketchy combat math and clicked through a Ghost Quarter activation on a 4/4 Mutavault that lost me a game. Live and learn.
2-0 against Grixis Delver (maybe it was a slightly odd Shadow list). Ended up in a board stall with a TKS and Scourge facing down a Tasigur and Snapcaster. The breaker was a Mutavault and two Blinkmoths. The Blinkmoth pump feels like a real clock.
2-0 against Skred. One of the locals plays this in paper so I'm pretty familiar with the matchup. Blood Moon is not good against this deck, and Skred players prioritize casting it instead of something more useful.
2-0 against Burn. Blind Chalice on 1 stole the game. Game 2 was a little closer with me keeping a threat-light 5 with a Scourge in exile and a turn 1 Chalice. It was enough, but barely. My opponent was running at least two copies of Risk Factor and it seemed okay. I took 8 from two of them, although by the time the second one was cast, I had Chalices on 1 and 2 and probably should've let my opponent have the cards.
Deck felt great. Toying with the idea of a 3rd Contortion over a Gut Shot, but Gut Shot has other applications like planeswalker cleanup duty, killing a dork on the draw, and nuking Phantasmal Image. Tough call.

Played 1 weeks after this 5:1 again 4 rounds vs Bad match ups on fnm for 3:1. affinity 0:2, hardened scales 2:1, humans 2:1, ad naeseum 2:1. i like my phyrexian revoker in my side and i board it in vs. All this 4 opponents, even vs. Humans you have 8 targets. Next time i use 2 in my side, but man it is so expensive in foil like ghost quarters
Whoa, no Zhalfirin Void? That's one of the best lands in the deck. I would be hard pressed to play fewer than four. A set of both Ghost Quarter and Tec Edge seems excessive to me.
I like the idea of Phyrexian Revoker. I've thought about playing one or two in the side as well. The problem is that it dies to way more removal than the Sorcerous Spyglass I've currently got in that slot, and with the rise of UWx control, it's important to be able to consistently shut down Teferi or Jace.
Cutting Simian Spirit Guide gives you more room for threats, and Endless one seems good there. Chalice has just been too good for me to cut, though.
Sweet list and congrats.

4 quarter and 4 edge is excessive...excessive good. 4 tectonic edge is my weapon vs. Teferi, no 5 lands = no teferi so i dont need spyglass which is sometimes a waste because no creature like revoker which means pressure too. No zhalfiring because no chalice and SSG. What should i scry for? Creature Into creature? I am full with creatures and i dont need to scry for them and relics drawing more creatures then i can cast

sorry for asking something like this, but can you spare some of your time writing how do you mull against the tier decks ? because it would be way diferent from the mull guide we have on the 'commom' list
Nothing great to say, a lot of my hands are looks same (lands + creatures) to keep. i search for Tempel and/or for relics if my opponent is gravebased..end of story. After siding i try to find some sidecards. Ghost quarter vs tron and tectonic edge against titanshift are good too
In the midst of getting slaughtered in a league. Went 2-0 against Affinity, then 1-2 against BG, 0-2 against Grixis Tezzeret, and then 1-2 against Griselbrand. Waiting to play the last game until later. Ensnaring Bridge is rough, and we just don't have enough disruption for Through the Breach.

Those are definitely some of the hardest cards for us to beat, with Wurmcoil Engine perhaps taking the cake. That's Colorless for you, though---slim pickins when it comes to artifact removal and disruption for 5-drop instants!

2-1 against Titanshift.
2-0 against Burn.
0-2 against BW Tokens. Mulliganed past a Ratchet Bomb G2. Feels like a bad matchup, perhaps. Vigilance and lifelink are real.
2-0 against a weird Green Tron list with Primeval Titans mainboard.
2-1 against Jund.
I'm pretty firm on the idea of 2 Scavenger Grounds now, after some thought about cutting one for the 3rd Wastes. Assassin's Trophy just hasn't done what I feared it might, at least not yet. And having 2 pieces of gravehate maindeck is really nice against Tarmogoyf, Storm, Snapcaster, etc. So if I end up adding a 3rd Wastes, it'll be for something else.

Thoughts on a playset of Surgical Extraction in the side, in place of the Relics? Gets under Bridgevine on the draw, leaves mana for our own game plan.

Thanks for the articles. I refer to them often. This one will be especially useful since I play against Burn all the time, both online and in paper. My boarding has been a little different in that I leave the Copters in and only bring in 2 Bombs. I'll try it your way next time. It makes sense.
Just 5-0ed a Friendly League for the first time. Crushed, too. I'm on Jordan's list except I play a second Spyglass instead of the Surgical because Surgical is $45 online. But with the Dredge revival, it's probably time to make the switch.

Dredge seems to be back in full force online. Creeping Chill is a real Magic card and is a pain in the ass. Did have a sweet play G1, though, where my opponent milled 2x Chill and I popped a Scavenger Grounds with the abilities on the stack and they fizzled. I didn't think it would work until I read the card carefully. I never really noticed that the controller has to exile it, so that's a cool interaction worth knowing about. That play won that game, too.
