I might try them out at some point but I am still a big fan of Dismember, for my meta anyways.
Twin is still a had match up to be honest. Just proving that it is worth the tier 1 rating. Sideboard helps me slow it down a turn or two at least.
I'm a big fan of outpost siege. Naming Khans and given our low curve means we almost always get to play the exiled card, and having the extra dig is very strong. It really lets you take over stalled out games in the grindfests this deck likes to produce. Naming Dragons can also give you that extra damage when you need it. Naming dragons and then swinging with myr tokens is great, even if your opponent blocks, they're going to still take damage. Personally, I've found that I normally name Khans unless naming dragons will win me the game in 2-3 turns. So if you're playing around with outpost siege, treat it like a card advantage spell with random damage upside instead of as another Purphoros with random card advantage upside.
I also want to try out outpost. That card advantage sounds really nice in this deck. However I don't want to increase my 4 cmc count. Currently have 3 rangers and 2 Purphoros. If I would consider outpost I would most likely cut my Purphoros (at least one for sure) and another 1 drop possibly. I wouldn't put my 4 cmc above 6.
I was thinking the same thing.
You can swap Purphoros for Impact Tremors and play Outpost. Khans the 1st, get anymore or if you have a good board state, set it to dragons.
just an idea

Has anyone tried splashing a tiny bit of blue for a couple Snapcaster Mage? I feel it wouldn't be hard with 4 Cavern of Souls, and I feel it would be nice to get extra bolts and paths. It also would be an instant speed pump for champions. It also could be really nice with Boros Charm as well. Just an idea I've been mulling over...
I guess its already been discussed in the soul sister thread, but this deck is stupidly vulnerale to torpor orb. It focus so much on ETB effects that this shuts it down completely, yet i dont see any sideboard card to destroy artifacts. Granted it's only one card and not everyone has it in the sideboard, but if someone has it, it seem like there's nothing to do. Should some cards be set aside for artefact destruction and not just hate/slowing?
If so, what kinda cards actually have some good synergy with the deck and can also be used for that?
Edit: i've seen Wear // Tear, but it doesn't seem enough, kinda, maybe having a full set + some other stuff?
I took a look at recent posts from all the top tier decks and only burn and affinity play seem to play torpor and usually 1 or 2 copies.
I think its mainly a meta call on your part. I've seen a lot of Norin decks run 2 wear // tear and maybe a shatterstorm or shattering spree, so 3 ant-artifact cards. I was thinking of adding a 1 or 2 ingot chewers to my sideboard but of course they wouldn't help you against the orb.
Hello everyone! Soul Sisters enthusiast here, that recently got 3x Norin the Wary. I have some questions:
* Do we really need 4x Norin? I know it enables a lot of synergies. Can the deck be played at ease with just 3?
* With all the Myr Tokens, is Windbrisk Heights a bad idea? What about Archangel of Thune? Is it a win-more card?
* In the few games I played, flying creatures were an issue. Is that a common weakness for the deck?
I only speak for myself here.
I have been playing back and forth with 3 or 4 Norins. I prefer having 4 in my build for a better chance to have one in my opening hand. I also have 3 Rangers so really I could afford to go down to 3 if I want to.
Windbrisk Heights really wouldn't be that bad. I never played around with the hideaway ability before. I just don't think I want any ETB tapped lands in my build. Angel is good for this deck because it gets our creatures big really fast. I just don't want to have a 5 CMC card when I am running 20 lands in a dual colored deck. Most games I only ever have 4 or 5 lands out and I am using them to deal with problems or more triggers. I'm trying to keep my 4 CMC cards low also.
Flying is an issue in many decks and I really just don't worry about it. We have some burn and removal spells to deal with more presky creatures and with our lifegain we don't have to worry so much (besides infect like inkmoth).
Don't know if it's been tried here before but there was a guy streaming Norin Twin on Twitch Monday night. It looked pretty good. Used Midnight Guard and Village Bell-Ringer along with the basic Norin shell of 8 sisters, Champion, Genesis Chamber, and I think a few Pridemate/Outpost Siege/Purphoros.

Did you see a Twin/Kiki finish? Those are odd choices, but adding a combo kill into otherwise fair decks is always fun and creature copying plays nicely with things like Purphoros in a pinch. Do you remember who it was?

I am Collecter. I streamed norin twin again a few hours ago and went 4-0. A vod should be up on my twitch account, walking_sponge. Feel free to ask questions.
Taking a look at my VoDs on twitch, it started to mute some parts of my stream. I can upload full unmuted tournaments to youtube when I get home. In the mean time you can watch here, but parts of them will be muted. (The 16th, and 13th are norin twin).
Updates since the monday tournament are swapping the two Mark of Asylum in the sideboard for Auriok Champions. They kind of fill the same role, and they are soul sisters themselves, so it has been working well for me.
I have yet to miss purphoros, but missing Ranger has been kind of annoying in some spots. I think I am going to swap the mentor out for a Ranger of Eos. Ranger plays much better with twin if I don't have the combo, and Mentor normally dies before I can draw a card.
Yesterday in the daily I played against:
Round 1: RGx? burn. I say x because I never saw any white, and they normally run boros charm.
Round 2: Twin
Round 3: Junk of some kind. They ran Lingering souls, Steppe Lynx, finks, gavony, etc. Not quite sure what was going on.
That wouldn't go with the twin combo. You couldn't go infinite with wall or splicer. Sure you can do it with bell ringer but it would be best, like in twin decks, to have two creatures supporting that wincon.
I agree with Blueberry. I based wanting 6 creatures off the UR twin decks. If 6 is enough for them, I figured it was a very good starting point for myself. It has been alright so far.
While Omen and Splicer are nice value creatures with twin, you should be able to grind out with norin until you reach a point twin is useful. If I was running Kiki/resto, they would be a higher consideration. The main reason I didn't want to move in that direction, is because the more you start adding value ETB creatures that don't fit the norin plan, the better off you are just running the RW kiki/twin deck.
I will say though I spent literally a half hour on Monday making the deck, and two dailies worth of time playing it. Add cards, mess with numbers, and help tune it. Probably the best thing to do right now. I am not even sure it is a lot better than normal norin at the moment.
What is your gameplan against infect and is there something else then infect that can make this deck struggle a lot for victory? I guess theres more path going in, and maybe some lifegain going out (like auriok champion, for the higher CMC)
you can really push the ETB effects for this deck with Impact Tremors and/or Outpost Siege. A rather complicated version i am brewing is Mardu Norin... the black splash is for Lingering Souls and Crackling Doom. I sneaked in a lone Soulfire Grandmaster as a win more condition.
Impact tremors is a trap. Trust me. It's no good. One damage is no Good. Every time you want to draw it you wished it was purphorous. Lingering souls is no good in this deck and if you run crackling doom you can't run genesis chamber. I've been working on a version that splashes black and it just doesn't seem as powerful as the two colour version

I'm not 100% sure on how much of a trap Impact Tremors is--1 damage per Norin/critter sucks compared to 2 damage, but I've found that this deck does have some trouble hitting 4 mana (when I tested Mastery of the Unseen in this deck, it took surprisingly long before I had enough mana to activate it for the first time).

It's been a while since I played it, but I liked the black splash for Confidant better than a straight RW version. It's pretty light with Cavern of Souls already in the list and it offers some decent sideboard options.
How do you figure Crackling Doom cuts off Genesis Chamber? Is it just too many noncreature spells in your opinion? I don't think this is a great deck for Crackling Doom unless you have a heavier black splash, but it's a passable edict effect that does work through all of the myr tokens. It's an OK sideboard option if you see a lot of bogles or Goryo's Vengeance lists locally.

it doesn't cut of Genesis Chamber, my bad, I was forgetting that it sacs the highest power. I thought they could sacrifice the token. So its not bad, but the non-creature thing is a good point, you don't want to run to many or the soul sisters are just worthless.
I really like running Dark Confidant in this deck, but i feel like the only cards we really gain from adding black are Bob and maybe zealous persecution for the board, and overall I'm not sure if their worth it.
My biggest problem these days is all of the red deck wins in my meta
There's an argument for discard, too. Short of a fast start and racing combo, this kind of deck is a bit of a dog to it. Thoughtseize in the side seems like a reasonable choice. Confidant and Persecution were the main things I liked about the black splash, though. My manabase for a black splash was something like
So pretty light with plenty of basics. I may have shaved something somewhere (Crypt, maybe?) for Kher Keep, but I don't have a list handy. If you're mostly going for Bob, the Caverns are almost enough on their own, and he's a must kill card. The average CMC of the last list I played, including lands, was right around 1. That and all the lifegain made him great. All of that said, I haven't had a chance to play in months and I'm not sure I would feel the same way about it now.
It's odd that you're having trouble with RDW. Incremental lifegain like sisters usually gives them a rough time. What kinds of issues are you having?

As long as you do not rely on Impact Tremors/Outpost Siege as the primary wincon then it wouldn't be a trap. Believe me, I tried it myself and Champion of the Parish, Ajani's Pridemate, etc is the way to go. You still win via creatures and the enchantments are for support only.
