I'm thinking of resurrecting this deck as a stompy/prison style aggro hybrid. I think the maindeck hate would work well with the threats.
The red also opens up more sideboard options (Bolt/Roast/etc.). Thoughts?
This is what I have come up with, splashimg red according to your previous comments, havent testedet it yet though... What do you guys think? http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/red-kithkin-worshippers-of-iroas/?cat=cost
I really like to play at least 2 copies of path to exile because it allows you to get rid of creatures permanently, and boros charm gives you three options, thats always great in my opinion...
Hi!
Try running +2 Preeminent Cap'n and 1 Brave the Elements instead of those Lightning Helix. I would also cut 1 Borderguard or 1 Boros Charm for another Brave the Elements. These will give you more aggro than burning options.
PS: Consider running Burrenton Forge-Tender in your sideboard, and always go for Blood Moon if you can ($$$)...
New to the thread, what do you guys think about running aether vial?
It's not a good option if you're going for Classic Kithkin (Cloudgoat Ranger/Ranger of Eos and Figure of Destiny). But you can try it with the Soldier version of the deck that uses Preeminent Captain.
I added Authority of the Consuls to my kithkin soldiers deck. it was an experiment but i must say i really like it!
really helps alot to enable safe attacks with preeminent captain and the militia's pride and provides a bit of extra life too
Burn: 2-0 - Easy match since I'm running 4 Forge-Tenders
Junk: 1-2 - Game was tough and sideboarding didn't help me
Esper control: 2-1 - Figures helped me out after 1st match
Soul Sisters: 2-1 - +3 Torpor Orb and -2 Ranger of Eos/-1 Cloudgoat Ranger
Affinity: 2-0 - 1st match was tough but sideboarding is key (Stony Silence + Aura of Silence + Kataki)
Is anyone still playing Kithkins? All comments are welcome
I used to run 3/4 Windbrisk Heights with 2/4 Cloudgoat Ranger, but I'm not that lucky with "combos"
Also, I've won so many matches because I was able to discard those Clachans.
Anw, I'm giving a try once again to 3 Windbrisks in the next matches.
Was this in a tournament setting or just casual games? Any reason to favor Clachan over Windbrisk Heights?
Just local modern matches, but I'm pretty sure this deck can be a pain in the ass if sideboarded correctly. Of course, it's not a tier 1 or 2, but it's fun to play with.
Since we don't run any fetches, it could be worthwhile to test Suppression Field in the board. I think the only cards of ours it affects are Figure, Cloudgoat and Windbrisk if you run it.

What abilities do you fear that you want to run that? I have not encountered any abilities that make me want to run it, but that may be my local meta

Agreed, Suppression Field depends on your meta. Stony Silence seems to be enough against activated abilities so far. Anw, I still have 1/2 free slot(s) in my SB, any hints?
Nice to see this threads getting some movement! My girlfriend started playing Modern with me and she loves kithkin (it stems back when I played it as a standard deck back when it was legal, and she essential stole it from me once I switched over to 5cc/faeries.) We splashed red in for bolts/boros charms since she was having troubles finishing off the games in some cases.
She likes the harriers since her brother plays TaN Combo with emmy. It's also pretty usefel against mid-range stuff to tap big goyfs or stuff that are out of bolt range. She also has the Mirran crusaders against me, being a g/b player

Modern:
Death's Shadow - Living End - Eldrazi Tron
I like that list. I had some success with the red splash as well, although I didn't go that deep. I think I mainly used it for maindeck Bolt and Blood Moon. The extra reach from Bolts was useful, so I can imagine the same could be said for Boros Charm and Helix. Boros Charm also doubles down as Wrath protection, which is a nice bonus. I'd probably cut the Harrier for Brave the Elements main.
this is the Deck i'm running now. Cenn's tactician is a test, and the wrath of god's are really a flexible slot. I like to put things like Mana Tithe
The general plan is to use the captain and windbrisk Heights to cheat Captain of the Watch and Thoughtweft Trio into play. (or any other soldier. Militia's Pride is very nice to go wide, especially when Ballyrush Banneret makes it cheaper to cast. 3 attackers for the windbisk Heights should be no problem
I've always wanted to fit in Mutavault but I've never gotten a hold of any. I might change that soon but there are a lot of double white costs in the deck. However, it's also come to my attention that Metallic Mimic exists and could be another kithkin lord and it's colorless. If I add it I think I would take out the planeswalkers. I've never actually used them and they usually get sideboarded out. Though they push the curve of the deck I like the Cloudgoat Rangers. Putting 4 threats on the board is amazing and the tokens it makes aren't usually 1/1s because of Cenn or Honor. Plus he has evasion.
I really like Brave the Elements. It can save a Wizened Cenn or basically says my creatures are unblockable. On the downside it doesn't synergize with Metallic Mimic but it didn't do anything for planeswalkers anyway so I guess switching the Mimics in for the walkers doesn't really change anything.
Mana Tithe can be interesting. If people aren't expecting it they often tap out to play a planswalker or combo off so I leave it in the sideboard.
Ranger of Eos has been an amazing recent addition. He may not be a kithkin but he gets you so much value in a deck that can empty its hand pretty quickly.

Brave the elements is a good option considering that you're not running Forge-Tenders in your main. About the Planeswalkers, I guess you could cut them off - try adding +1/+2 Cloudgoat Ranger and/or +1/+2 Thoughtweft Trio instead.
And I really don't like Metallic Mimic, just couldn't make it work
Hey, is there anyone that's still playing with Kithkins? I recently made a deck with them and will probably test it in the near future. Hope someone here still believes in the fellow hobbits from Lorwyn
Kithkin was my first tournament deck but I was awful even though I wasn't very new to the game. But what a great way to start with a small budget. I've kept it all these years but I've played around with different versions trying to make it better and when modern came along I just picked it up again and it does pretty well. I've tried a combo-ish version using Mirrorweave after playing a Wizened Cenn and a Spectral Procession, I've tried a version with Thistledown Liege, I've tried Militia's Pride, but my current list is my favorite. At's very fast. There are some things I'm thinking of trying out and I'm looking for opinions.
Never thought about 4x Spectral Procession? It really does win some games with the tokens pumped with Honor

The main reason is Blood Moon, but splashing for red also grants you Boil and lots of artifact hate (Smash to Smithereens, Shattering Spree, etc).
EDIT: You can also try Ghostly Prison/Ensnaring Bridge as you're going for stompy/prison.

I can imagine he does not like the "enter tapped" part, but myself i still run 2/3 of them (also clachlans but that is mostly for flavour)
