I need to add that I did not play against any graveyard decks (although 40% off the meta used the grave) and those surgicals were very bad against UW and jund and tilted my matchup to unfavorable G1 which was sad. After going 3-0 in the sealed I played this:
R4: Jund 1-2 loss (I needled a T1 hexdrinker instead of wrenn and six while my double confidant hand folded to that planeswalker)
R5: Infect: 2-1 win (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aG968KbS78&t=2701s starting from 30:00)
R6: UW: 1-2 loss: I double liliana discard to empty his hand for the win, he has a 2nd snapcastermage in hand and flashes it in killing my lili the turn after eventually losing me the game
R7: UW 1-2 loss: I lose trough needle (on baby teferi), bitterblossom, confi and lili. He somehow has every right card without even drawing (and going to 6). I never get to even attack with bitterblossom tokens, that is how bad it got. I eventually get sword in play and he gets his singleton detention sphere to take them off the board.
R8: Infect: 2-0 (or 2-1 not sure). Het mulls te 5 I discard his only creature and follow up with confi and lili no hand = no big creature.
Going 5-3 and ending 39th out of 228.
I wil change the deck returning the surgicals to sidebaord as well as the single maindeck force. I will return bloodghast to the main as well as 2 plague engineers. Besides that I will run snowlands and dead off winter (in the sideboard) against humans.
This weekend I will play the non-snow list as I did not have the time to collect the correct lands.

thanks for sharing this specially the video. i'm new to this archetype and i even started a thread here in mtgs 6 days ago not knowing mono black midrange is named "the gate" luckily one commenter mentioned "the gate" legacy and got me to this thread. gonna readback first but i'm glad that this thread is active.
is not that good, don't resolve anything imho. in modern a token block easily rotting regisaur.
we need good creature and imho the main problem of The Gate is the creatures core.
From my previous deck list post I am thinking about using 3 Thoughtseize MB in place of 3 Smallpox, and pulling Yahenni's and Ashiok's and adding 3 Death's Shadow and 1 Hogaak.
This probably seems like the right place to post about this deck.
Went 4-0 at my FNM with this list, it felt way better than I expected. Had some bad moments with Rotting Regisaur getting removed after it's first upkeep trigger, but otherwise he felt pretty okay.
R1: Storm: 2-0
Mostly always had Discard + Removal so the 2 games were pretty easy.
R2: Ponza: 2-0
G1: Sandbagged my nonbasics after seeing the first Utopia Sprawl, in the hopes he would board out Bloodmoon. Killed their threat and smashed face with 2 Dinos.
G2: That game was pretty close, he had Bloodbraid Elf and a Stormbreath Dragon and I had a Dark Confidant and a Rotting Regisaur, I was at seven after attacking with 2 Mutavaults and a Swamp in play and a Defile in hand, but for some reason I went for the most unreasonable play of just making the BBE smaller with Defile. And ended up at one, luckily I flipped a land from Bob and swung for lethal.
R3: Eldrazi and Taxes: 2-1
G1: Was a bit grindy, but with the tons of removal in the deck, I won.
G2: He managed to assemble Flickerwisp and Eldrazi Displacer and dominated the game with this.
G3: Seemed like he didn't draw that well. Disruption and a clock won.
R4: Jund: 2-1
G1: Lost because I didn't draw lands for my second and third landdrop, so I couldn't cast the Phyrexian Obliterator in my hand.
G2: T1 Needled Wrenn and Six we traded back and forth. He played a BBE and flipped into a W&6 so I got pretty lucky. Won with Obliterator beats.
G3: The Elderspell was the MVP in this game, killing a LotV and a Liliana, the Last Hope.
The Manabase I stole from 8-Rack probably is a bit too greedy with 6 Colourless Lands. It seemed to work out most of the time, but playing more Swamps probably seems better with Defile.
I recently piloted this deck in the Red Bull Untapped qualifier in Belgium.
