I'm interested in building a new deck. The deck that seems fun at the moment won't be competitive but I'd like to optimize is as much as possible. I'm not sure about an exact budget but I know Liliana of the veil and collective brutality are too expensive.
It seems to catchy but murmuring bosk, nameless inversion work nicely, are there any other decent treefolk that would be worth utilizing the bosk as it counts as a forest? lignify seems okay but I'm not sure I want that and nameless.
This is What I have so far...
One problem I see is balancing the number of forests and the number of untapped lands on turn one that produce black. Any thoughts on this? Adding the ability to produce one white mana would be huge. It would allow Knight of Autumn
Unless you really need the artifact/enchantment distruction of knight of autumn, I think kitchen finks would be fine for lifegain as it triggers twice. How about syphon life as a 1 of? It fits in with your retrace/loam plan pretty well and triggers nicely your lich's mastery.
I mean no disrespect, but haakon seems like a bad card here. I understand the nameless inversion synergy it offers. However, if that is all it is doing, then I wonder why you're not either better removal or better aggro instead of a 2 card combo that sort of does both. I don't see you wanting to spend your entire term killing a really big creature when a terror effect would do it just as well. Also, haakon is actively bad with a lich's mastery active.
Frankly, I can see a bit of room for a big creature or two here. If you can run lich's mastery, then there is no reason you couldn't run primeval titan, for example. However, since budget seems to be a concern, one card I could see would be woodland bellower as a 2 or 3 of. It finds:
Thanks for the input! it's highly appreciated. syphon life seems great. knight of autumn isn't great by itself, but it's a knight so with haakon it becomes a repeatable body, enchantment/artifact removal, and life gain. This would depend upon haakon, stromgald scourge though. As you said haakon doesn't seem great. My original plan included haakon, as removal and as a way to power out knight but I've found three colors challenging given a budget. Needless to say I'm attempting to find a decent plan that is budget friendly.
Really the only appeal of Lich's Mastery is that on mtgo its a penny. The card isn't good, but it should at least in theory be difficult for some strategies to play around. The dredging should provide a payment system that lasts multiple terms. The goal is to find a way to win quickly once the board is stabilized.
woodland bellower is a card I'm not familiar. Thanks for the include. I'll have to think on this one.
Actually, Lich's Mastery, in the right deck, is quite good. You need to be running cards like nourishing shoal and autochthon wurm (or others). Heck, even gray merchant of asphodel in the right deck might well win you the game without the lich and with the lich, the sky is the limit.

Nice!
I wasn’t planning on mono black but I like it.
Any easy ways to get double red mana with minimal investment? One thought I’ve had is to play a couple conflagrate. Sacrificing forests with Lich in play is equal to 3 damage per land. The mana base again would be the challenge.

Anyway the Idea is a Green Black loam deck.
3x haakon, stromgald scourge
4xwayward swordtooth
2x tireless tracker
2x lich's mastery
3xdark heart of the wood
3x raven's crime
3x nameless inversion
1x worm harvest
2x damnation I already own this
Proabably need something like assassin's trophy
and inquisition of kozilek
lands that will benefit the theme
overgrown tomb
forest
desert of the glorified
dakmor salvage
Any ideas on completing the deck?
Would it be better to run ramunap excavator over tireless tracker?
any ideas on maximizing dark heart of the wood ?

Do I add one murmuring Bosk?
I have a few side board slots as well.

He himself is a large beater. You could also run the hypnotoad, I mean The Gitrog Monster

I've thought about black devotion gray merchant of asphodel and gifted aetherborn. It seems pretty good if the deck can get to six mana. maybe mana rocks?
