I am a fairly new player who decided to try and build my first modern deck and would like to know if the deck appears to be too weak or if it might be able to support itself ( any ideas are welcome ). The idea I had for the deck is to use Efficient Construction in addition to my heavy artifact deck so I always have something to sacrifice and bring metalwork colossus back as well as using Padeem, Consul of Innovation with Swiftfoot Boots in order to create some kind of a lock.
Edit: Ratchet Bomb is a card I had in mind but in all the variations of this deck I was never able to fit it because of the price and what i would take out to add it
Whirler Rogue is also really good in the deck providing blockers to survive against aggro decks and later on making Colossus unblockable to close out the game. Quicksmith Spy can be useful for some extra card draw, though Padeem is probably better for this.
Added a few of the cards you guys advised and also removed cards like Talisman of Dominance in favor of Mistvein Borderpost for the extra cmc and enabling me a turn 1 play. As for the side board I am still messing with it so I decided not to add it yet.

My deck is pretty budget friendly if you replace: Batterskull, Akroma's Memorial, Thassa, SoL&S and Academy Ruins.
Decent budget options are: Aethersphere Harvester, Weatherlight/Untethered Express, Skysovereign, Consul Flagship, Whispersilk Cloak
(or Haunted Cloak) and Buried Ruin.

Syndicate Trafficker - seems unnecessary, Contraband Kingpin or Artificer's Assistant would be better imho.
Welding Jar - if you have Boots/Cloak/Greaves you don't really need this.
Efficient Construction - mediocre, worse than Thopter Spy Network.
Blinkmoth Urn - not efficient compared to cards like Dreamstone Hedron/Gilded Lotus.
Some key cards I'd max out are: Mind Stone, Glint-Nest Crane, Hedron Archive and also adding a 3rd Treasure Mage is probably pretty good (especially with SB cards like: Platinum Angel, Mindslaver or Steel Hellkite which it can find).
