Hello, lately I've been itching to play some sort of Life from the Loam variant, but my collection isn't big enough to have the pieces just lying around. Does anyone have suggestions for a loam deck that isn't too expensive? (I already have a set of the namesake card).
This is 1) untested and 2) super budget, so I won't guarantee it's effective, but it looks pretty fun. Cast loam, retrace flame jab, swing with a big Monastery Swiftspear, Countryside Crusher, or Young Pyromancer tokens. You could probably play Abbot of Keral Keep instead of Plated Geopede, but neither will probably get bigger than 3/3 anyway (unless you get cute and GQ your own lands to make Geopede bigger).
Actually, on second thought, you might not want or need Faithless Looting. It puts loam back in the yard to dredge, but most of your cards don't want to be in the yard except Loam, Jab, and lands. Dunno what'd put there, though.
Manabase is rough, too, because it's untested. It might be "better" to go to 14 mountains and 1 forest, and it would certainly be better to swap Karplusan Forest for Stomping Ground. At least 1 Treetop Village would be better as a Raging Ravine if you can spring for one of those.
Many loam decks run black for lili and other hand hate. Since we are on a budget black isn't that good. We could do naya land destruction but once again it would probably cost to much :/
Perhaps some sort of bit white green deck could work. Knight of the relequary, sun titan, life, fetches, lots of ghost quarters, emeria the sky ruin. Loam is sweet but many biulds are notcheap can you give us an idea of what you have already andyour preferred play style?

Or if you have the lands for Jund, you can hop over to the Assault Loam primer; there are a couple lists there from page 83 on without Tarmogoyf, Liliana of the Veil, or Dark Confidant.
- Molten Vortex
- Flame Jab
- Young Pyromancer
- Life from the Loam
- Hooting Mandrills
but at all seriousness, Loam can only be useful in 3-colored Builds.Green @ it's best
