Its quite good, and the speed at which it can churn through its deck, also makes it much more consistent in finding the answer/hate it needs in any given match up. Curious what deck you think beats it ZigurotPrime, from your list, there isnt one I would worry about, except KCI of course.
I feel like a portion of the Phoenix players are the twin > GDS > hollow one > humans crowd that gravitate towards whatever is posting results. Those are usually exceptional strong players, which further compounds the deck appearing overly dominant.
I mean as an enfranchised player, why jeopardize my tournament with a subpar deck when I can play anything in the format.
I think the deck is fine. It's not doing anything inherently busted aside from T1 looting dropping two phoenixes in the yard and gut shotting twice. That's magical Christmas land though.
Feels like it's an over inflated representation. My opinion.
Probably some are like that. You also have the 'I wish I could have a Delver deck' and 'I wish I had a UR deck that wasnt Storm'. Its funny though, its just too linear for me to stick with. You chain your cantrips, you swing, you drop a bolt or 2. Cool.
Its probably exactly what Pro's want though. A consistent, repeatable, deck, that allows for leveraging a lot of choices.
It's too early to say how it will play out. It is doing well at present, but it's also the new kid in town and hasn't been solved yet. The top 8 of the next big modern event will be interesting once people have the deck more figured out.

May just be due to small sample size, but I've never lost to it with Red Prison. (10-0 against people who weren't my roommate. Admittedly, I've had plenty of practice against it.) They can't deal with bridge pre-board and depending on the number of abrades in the side may still not be able to get past it after I bring in spellskite and a couple of hate cards of my own. They just don't have the artifact hate necessary.
Honestly, the only reason I leave Blood Moon in against them is little variations like that lol. At least then they have to hard cast it and don't get flashback.

Its like RUG delver from Legacy.
Phoenix is Delver
Thing is Tarmogoyf
Drake is Nimble Mongoose (I guess?)
And the rest is draw spells, burn spells and just a few counterspells. Plays to out tempo you as well. Congrats modern delver enthusiasts, you have your delver deck.
