I'm starting to dabble in Modern format. I am building a GW Boggles. I want to know if a one-of Elspeth, Knight-Errant is a viable Sideboard cards, or if I should look at other options. Explain why I should look at other options.
You should really be asking this question in the Bogles thread. You're much more likely to get Bogle-specific advice there.
As for Elspeth, yes, that card can see Modern play. It sees play primarily in Zoo, although it occasionally makes an appearance in Death & Taxes and WX control.
Unfortunately, I don't know whether or not Elspeth can be run as a sideboard card in Bogles. I suspect that it's not good there, because it doesn't seem consistent with the Bogles game plan.
Playing millions of cards every turn... Slowly and systematically obliterating any chance my opponent has of winning... Clicking the multitude of locking mechanisms into place... Not even trying to win myself until turn 10+ once I have nigh absolute control... Watching my opponent desperately trying to navigate the labyrinthine prison that I've constructed... Seeing the light of hope fade and ultimately extinguished in an excruciatingly slow manner... THAT'S fun Magic.
We have 2-3 users that are dramatically making this thread incomprehensible and non-productive for anyone else to possibly join in the discussion. This needs to change.
Every time I see [ktkenshinx] post in here, I get the impression of a stern dad walking in on a bunch of kids trying to do something dumb and just shaking his head in disappointment.
Near Mint: The same as Slightly Played, but we threw some Altoids in the box we stored it in to cover up the scent of dead mice. Slightly Played: The base condition for all MTG cards. This card looks OK, but there’s one minor annoying ding in it that will always irritate and distract you whenever you draw it. Moderately Played: This card looks like it survived the Tet Offensive tucked inside the waistband of GI underwear. It may smell like it, too. Heavily Played: This card looks like the remains of Mohammed Atta’s passport after 9/11. It may be playable if you double-sleeve it to stop the chunks from falling out. The condition formerly known as "Washing Machine Grade" Damaged: This card is the unfortunate victim of a Mirrorweave/March of the Machines/Chaos Confetti/Mindslaver combo.
[M]aking counterfeit cards is the absolute height of dishonesty. Ask yourself this question: Since most people...are totally cool with the use of proxies...what purpose do [high] quality counterfeit cards serve?
most lists I see are running Gideon, Ally of Zendikar over where I would previously see the niche Elspeth. So my answer would be no, but it would never hurt to have 1 copy in your binder for an oddball occasion.

I've never seen Zoo lists run Elspeth. Perhaps I'm not very well-versed on the deck archetype.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Gideon is sort of stealing some of Elspeths old thunder since he can make tokens and also put your opponent on a fast clock. However, I feel both are viable and it largely comes down to which you have access to. I definitely wouldn't take net decks as written in stone for these two walkers.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

Zoo and DnT don't run her and Wx control runs Elspeth, Sun's Champion not KE so I'm not sure where that idea came from. Knight-Errant used to be a common card in BW Tokens but Gideon, Ally of Zendikar and Sorin, Solemn Visitor are much better in those decks so she got dropped. Definitely wouldn't run her in Bogles either, she's just not what the deck needs.
She used the be one of the better four drops in the format, but has been overshadowed as of late. Her plus abilities pull her in different directions. One one had you've got token production, and on the other you have Voltron beats. For the token decks you have both Sorin, Lord of Innistrad and Sorin, Solemn Visitor, or Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, all of which produce tokens, then pump them. For aggro beats, I can't really think of a Planeswalker that really supports this out side of Domri Rade and maybe Ajani, Caller of the Pride. Domri sees fringe play, while Ajani even less, mostly due to Voltron preferring instants and enchantments over a Planeswalker you need to protect. Elspeth is still quite powerful, but her abilities aren't focused enough, something you really need in a highly tuned format such as modern.

Gideon is good with no threats while Elspeth is better with small beat sticks.

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
Sees play in Bant (which sees close to no play ) cause of Geist (or to be more specific: Hierarch into turn 2 Geist into turn 3 Else = gg most of the times).

This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.
Elspeth is probably best in a midrange deck alongside a big threat without evasion like Geist of Saint Traft (in Esper or Jeskai) or Knight of the Reliquary (in Bant/Naya/Selesnya).

With Fatal Push on the horizon, these token producing walkers definitely take a step forward. Still, Gideon would look better.
She is a one of there. For blockers mostly I think. Although planewalker ultimates does seem like a win condition for the deck.

Gideon is better on an empty board while elspeth is better with big meaty creatures.
