Jund loses to RG Ponza in horrible misplay: dropping Flayer when Goyf could have easily gotten there alone. Don't play to an opponent's outs!
I don't exactly recall what RG player's life was but there's a few thing going on in that game;it's hard to say Jund player played bad when Ponza player was at 13 i believe and even with a 5/6 Goyf, by not adding a little more pressure you are bascially playing to your opponent's outs. Ponza plays some nasty big guys which Jund has a hard time dealing with. For example Inferno Titan.
Also, how does Jund player know that RG Ponza player has 4 MD Bonfires?. I know it was a 1 or 2-of but 4?!.
Ultimately i think it is just a bad matchup for Jund and Bonfire came to the rescue in G1.

When discard is your main source of interaction big over the top threats will always be a problem. Same reason ehy jund has a hard time with 1 card combos like scspeshift. They lose to any significant being on yop of the opponents deck. Bgx has to close games quick once the initial disruption is made.
I missed the elves player drawing 8 cards. Was it accidental or was he trying to conceal it?
And I also missed any repercussions. Did the player receive a game loss?
in my opinion, neither. The way he counted the cards, moved them around in his hand, and fanned them to hold 4 in each wasn't concealing. But for the same reasons it's incredibly hard to think he wasn't aware, which leads to the conclusion it was intentional.
It was game 3 and they applied the new rule. His opponent, Andrea Mengucci, got to see his hand and strip a card from it.
I actually don't know who won but when I turned it off it looked like momentum swung to the elves player.
I liked the rule change when it first came out but after seeing this it really bothers me.
Lotta Jund in that list. I can't say I'm too surprised considering the field. I find it interesting that there's only one Bant Eldrazi in that list, but that's not saying much considering how small of a sample it is.
Does Wizards post day 2 metagame breakdowns for GPs still? I would be very interested in those right now.
Good morning, MTGS and coverage! What do we have on deck when I tune into Twitch?
FACT or FICTION
"Non-rotating formats would be more engaging without fetchlands."
Are you kidding me? At least the following question about Counterspell was more interesting. The all-knowing Twitter population agreed it would be safe for Modern by something like 60-40 (Jensen thought it would be too strong).
Why is WotC so in love with this Fact or Fiction segment? I would prefer to listen to nails across a chalkboard than to people with little investment in the format babble on about fetchlands and BBE over and over again.

Channel Fireball has always been vocal about hating fetches because of shuffling
There's some really cool results that show how diverse Modern is. Thing in the Ice? Are you kidding me? Living End undefeated in that many rounds? Dredge is definitely very good, but I personally never saw it as "too good." I played one last FNM that put 11 power on board on turn 2. He died after getting to attack me once with those cards, courtesy of the Grishoalbrand deck I was playing. Yes, this may be somewhat degenerate, but there's also decks like Infect, Suicide Zoo, and even Affinity that do similar things.

Only one jund ended up top 32, though, so take that "Jund is still the best deck" with a grain of salt.
