I'm not worried about having the absolute best tier 1 deck, what I don't want is to build a deck with suboptimal budget cards, that was the one thing I learned by playing with my UR delver deck.
Faeries seems like a strong strategy but without the bitterblossoms the deck falls short, and they usually tend to play 1-2 cryptics or snapcasters, I'm going to look around tough to see if I can brew a faeries deck without cryptics and snapcaster.
What I'm truly looking for here is to get some control deck in the same style of UW Control (not necessarily UW Control itself) or some cheaper control deck that allows me to have a little bit of counter magic because with Skred Red I never feel that I'm in control in certain matchups due to the lack of counter spells. And this lack of confidence may be true for me for other non-blue control decks, but perhaps I need to adapt to the idea of a counterless strategy, since most counter decks are very expensive (UW Control, Jeskai Control, Grixis Control, Blue Moon) due to the snapcaster mage + cryptic command shell.
Is there a way to build blue control on a smaller budget? Or should I just stick with non-blue control strategies?
look for UW sun titan control, its a more tapped out control version (closer to martyr proc), but you can put some counters and adjust the deck according to your meta
Wouldn't this be another flavor of Skred Red (since both are tap-out control decks) but with a grindier playstyle and more susceptible to hate?
I've already look at UW titan but what made me gave up on the deck is the fact that you are a tap-out control strategy with counters. This often led me to awkward moments where I'd be im a better position had I invested om the board instead of leaving mana open. I'm not saying the deck doesn't works, it's just not my style.

dont worry i understand, you are looking for "draw go".
I don't agree it is another flavor of Skred (I have played both and they seemed different to me). But, yes, it is more of a tap out style. Unfortunately you are back to the issue of your budget. So, you either play with "inferior" cards to get the playstyle you want or you play something slightly different. Personally, if I was in your shoes (since I prefer draw-go type styles) I would just try to build something close to the current UW, Esper, or Jeskai builds and replace the more expensive cards with something. I don't know what that something would be, but at least then you have the style you want even if the cards aren't necessarily the "best".
You could play budget UW Control. I've seen players at some of the stores I go to run it; well, I should say 1 player that I remember. The games were somewhat close and he did okay. I think it would have been extremely hard to 4-0 the night with it, but he had fun going for 3-1, while 2-2ing.

What I meant about flavor is that both play a more tap out style, but I do agree that they have very different choice paths and play games very differently. As far as the idea about playing a budget version of a deck this is probably out of my plans since I'm looking for something that wins me games more often than it makes me lose due to lack of budget.
And if the "draw go" style is not functional for a cheaper deck then it's no problem, since I already have my pauper control list that plays very well on the draw go style.
All I wanted pushing this idea is to see if there was a deck that I didn't know or was unware of.
Since the playstyle of draw go os off limits due to budget, what are so other good control decks with a cheaper budget?
Thanks for the reply but I already tested U Tron and to me it plays a very poor game against land destruction, to the point where I couldn't resolve a win con or control the board before my life hit zero. This may sound like that old saying: "But THIS loses to THAT." but I'm really just looking for something that doesn't get hit that hard by hate, that's just how I prefer to play.
Ever thought about BW Gideons? It's a solid budget choice in my opinion. It just has a lot of medium priced planeswalkers in it, lands, and discard, with sweepers. It seems to have good sideboard options since it's in BW. There was a player who ran it at our FNM and he did very solidly, usually just losing to very good players on very good decks.

Could you show me a list of this BW deck?
About Martyr Proc I've been looking at it for some time, I love the prison style and already played a couple games with Lantern control, the problem is that when I lose I really hate the fact that I didn't get to assemble the lock, but since this one is more of a value deck than actually prison maybe it would be an interesting choice.
But about Skred Red, it's cheap, it rewards me for knowing my matchups, it also has a heap ton of removal, the absolute best thing for me in Magic and it also has a very fair game against almost anything. My problems with it is (in order of importance): the lack of counter magic, it loses very hard when I'm facing a rogue deck and can't play it as optimally as possible due to the nature of the deck, I miss card draw spells, doesn't answer enchantments very well.
That being said, is Skred Red the closest thing to what I'm looking for and I'm just being a ***** about not wanting to play control without counter spells, or is there something else that looks as viable as Skred Red but with counters and draw (since the matchup problem with rogue decks simply isn't solvable)?

I played with the deck even though it's way past my budget, but to me it was underperforming a little bit, it had a harsh time against mardu pyromancer, or midrange per say, and couldn't grind very well against the control decks (jeskai, azorius, etc). In the the end it felt very powerful against aggro decks and decks without hand attack. I don't think it's my kind of deck.
I'm still torn up because of Skred Red and I'm trying to figure it out how I feel about it. Because you definetely cannot build a deck that wins against everything, but there are ways to build decks that can at least play against everything, even if the odds are 5%/95%. I'm still open to new ideas and will continue to test them.
So far, thanks for everyone who have been replying to me.
I'm looking at Valakut right now to deal with my local meta, which leans heavily towards midrange and control (like over 50%). I'm basically looking for a solid deck against them that doesn't involve spending $250 on a playset of individual cards like Karn in Tron decks, as I just can't justify that sort of purchase within my budget. Are there better options in that $500-ish budget for a modern deck that would work in that scenario?
I'm relatively new to modern and bought into Mardu Pyromancer to start in the format. I like a part of the deck and I feel like it's good, but I don't like all of it. I don't really enjoy tokens and although reveler is a powerhouse, i don't really like the card.
I'm a very midrange kind of guy and I like a bit of control (in non-blue colors).
Recently discovered that Abzan/Junk and Jund exist, but my playgroup is telling me that the meta really isn't fit for these decks at the moment. I also noticed 5C (Traverse) Shadow, which I think is a really cool deck. What would you guys recommend? Budget isn't really an issue.
Goals with the deck are mainly FNMs and some regional tournaments every now and then. Maybe a GP or two a year if they are not too far away.
I think the only other non-blue controlling strategies that would be viable right now would be Lantern Control or Mono Red Prison (This is what I have been thinking about trying out soon myself). I thought Jund was still ok, but I don't play it so I wouldn't be able to say.

I think that Titanshift works very well for your budget. Just be careful with the land destruction package of UW Control, Aside from that you should have at least a 50/50 match up against your field.

Humans is generally the disruptive/aggro deck of choice against combo, or if you prefer midrange you can go any of the discard-based midrange decks: Jund, Abzan, or even Mardu Pyromancer, though I'm not sure how good Mardu's combo matchup is.

See while I'm with you on bogles being awesome, I'm incredibly competitive. I would get very frustrated very quickly by knowing I lost games due to the restrictions I place on my purchasing, moreso than losing because the deck I picked had a bad matchup.
I think you can get Bogles with Leyline of Sanctity for $500. I saw a post on FB that had nearly complete Bogles without Horizon Canopy, Leyline of Sanctity, and sideboard Gaddock Teeg, and his asking price was $320. A play set of Leyline shouldn't be much more than $100, amirite?
And there's no way to know if you would have won with Horizon Canopy as long as you don't think of your current draw happening a turn earlier and you don't look at the top cards of your library after losing (or winning). Outside of that, there's no way to know whether you would have won if it was a Horizon Canopy and there are niche situations where another land that doesn't ping you every turn like Horizon Canopy actually SAVES you. It's rare, probably 1 out of 100 times, another land is better, but it could happen.

yes, soul sister is a budget aggro version of martyc proc. Martyr proc is a good deck, SS is a FNM/burn meta deck.
Yes, it was actually pretty well placed in the meta about a month ago and not much has changed. I've never thought of Soul Sisters as that good of a deck - it mostly is a meta choice that actually beats very few decks.
Martyr Proc, of which I tried a couple of times recently, is a really strong deck. I will say that it is tougher to play than you may think. Play it like Mono White CONTROL and you should do well. There's no reason to play something unless you see a reason. The deck is soft to Combo strategies however, so the SB is like 15 cards for Combo, lol.

As for the deck, it is pretty decent especially for being relatively cheap. I used to play a similar deck (I play Mono-Red Prison as one of my decks now) and I think it is a fun deck. You can get people with Blood Moon, beat down with fliers who are immune to Path and Push or use your planeswalkers to close out games.
Being Mono-Red means you have limited answers for certain things, but the deck is meant to go fairly fast and make your opponent answer what you are doing.
The main issue you might have with this deck is what to do if you want to switch to something else, even temporarily. Not many of these cards really fit into any other deck (which is the case for Affinity and Tron and other decks too) so if you want to change decks, you are going to be starting mostly from square one for that deck.
In any case, it seems like a good start to the format and I think it is competitive enough to do well at FNM. It did win a larger tournament a while back (a GP or SCG Open or something) so it can win games.
