So what the hell is happening with Wrenn and Six? It was like 40€ in the morning here in Europe and right now it's at 60€ minimum..
Lifts Jund up out of the garbage fire it spent much of the last few years in. Combined with Seasoned Pyromancer and the new Canopy land, Jund got a lot of good upgrades from Horizon. Wrenn specifically is a mythic and a 2 drop from a limited set that wasn't opened much. So if it sees any play, its price will skyrocket.

I believe it was only a 1 off in the Jund winning list so that's why I'm a bit surprised by that.

imo just buy forces now if you foresee playing them at all. could the card go down a bit in 4-6 months? maybe, but id give it an equal if not higher chance for the card to go up. regardless of the outcome purchasing now incurs very little risk.
So a couple things:
1. This set is very reprint resistant. Since it's full of cards they didn't want to put through Standard, this is a lot of cards that will be hard to reprint elsewhere. There are very few reprint opportunities, just Commander and the summer special set really, plus Masters sets which we know won't be happening much for a while.
2. Unlike most sets, this set is not going to have a rotation devaluation. There is no Standard demand to prop up the price on any of these cards. No huge drop 2 years from now before it settles at it's real price.
3. Despite the print to demand nature, I think people are over estimating how much of this is going to be printed. It will not have the demand of larger sets. Usually with Modern, about 85% of the playerbase is opening packs and sending cards to Modern players. Here, it's more like 15 to 20% that are doing so. Supply on this set will never be all that high.
A few cards do stand out to me as likely reprints in the future though. I think Prismatic Vista screams Commander precon include one day. I think they want fetches out of historic though, so it won't ever go through Standard but I see this like a potential future Sol Ring in getting reprinted into oblivion.
A few cards here are going to shift in price a bit, but you're probably not going to get a better long term buy than right now across the set.
What's the ceiling for Wrenn short-term? I see the card settling around 110 in the next couple months. Wonder how much of its steady rising is thanks to the fact that the decks best positioned to use it are ones notorious for their costly singles---the Legacy Temur and Modern Jund players I know have all snapped up their copies at varying stages of the spike without so much more than a shrug. I think players of other decks seem to make more of a fuss when the cards they're eying shoot up at all.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.

Over $100.
It is extremely hard to reprint, and supply is going to be far less than people are expecting. Has retrace on it, which automatically makes reprints hard. Is also only a viable reprint in Masters sets or judge foils, both of which are years into the future. And, the people opening Horizons are those who don't play Standard. Normally Standard players also open packs and filter the cards to us, here that's not happening. Even a print to demand set is going to be opened far less due to less demand.
Is also only a viable reprint in Masters sets or judge foils, both of which are years into the future.
Also printable as promo (not just judge) and Commander products, too.
Very, very unlikely to be printed in a commander product. Once cards hit a certain price threshold, they don't wind up in sealed products because it causes those products to not get into the hands of the people they're intended to get into. If you want cards that I think could be destined for a future Commander product, I think Prismatic Vista is the top option from Horizons. Despite being the best fetchland ever printed, I think it's something they're going to try to make very available. Could be a big foil/non foil gap on this one over time.
As a promo, how many promos do they do annual of mythics outside of judge cards? SDCC is all I can really think of.
Wrenn and Six is as hard to reprint (especially short term) as it gets outside of anything on the RL.
Before people jump on wrenn and styx, keep in mind the reason the price of the singles are outpacing the boxes is due to skittishness on distributors who are tired of wotc shoveling so much product at them during the summer.
The situation is like pre 2013 magic singles, which just cant hold. Either the box price goes up or the cards come down from mass opening.
The box EV is 20 dollars below ultimate masters without the box topper.

2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Many cards will go down, Wrenn and Six is not one of them. Canopy lands, Plague Engineer, Goblin Engineer, these will all drop. Yawgmoth and Urza will likely go down some as well, Wrenn will not. It is the best planeswalker ever printed, has a much more limited supply than JTMS with just as much demand, and is already a cross format staple.
Also, box value is likely going to remain above what was retail given how constrained supply has seemed.
what happened to the two lower canopy lands waterlogged grove and Silent clearing was about to buy them because the were around 11-12$ ish, overnigt they went up by around $4
This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.
Not sure what people are saying about supply being constrained on modern horizons. It seems like it is in stock at distributors.

I can go to any store in my area and buy a booster box of modern horizons today. It's very available. There a massive amount available online as well for around $181.85 a booster box. It's there.
it must be nice. I have played at 2, been to three. Greensboro NC is not a small town, and unless I have missed something looking for it, Horizons is simply not available in store anywhere in the city proper. it's ice to be in a place not having supply issues, but Dominaria is far more available depspite not selling half as well according to the store owners

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Keep in mind distributors and stores have a relationship that can vary in quality. Depending on the situation, he could be getting hosed hardcore and the product is funneled elsewhere, or the owners simply favor standard and are trying to push core 2020 out the door. Believe me, that set needs all the help it can get right now because it went off allocation super early and it still isn't selling well. I'm just waiting for people to start beating the drum that core sets are bad when the same situation happened with every summer set ever printed, regardless if it was a core set or not.

Where do we see arclight phoenix bottoming out? I don't necessarily need them now, but I think it is only a matter of time before they are back in a competitive deck and I'd like to have a set for my modern collection. I assume they go down when they rotate but that is still awhile, and if they find a home in modern before then, this may be as cheap as they get?
okay so now we will have original fetches, original foils, MM15, MM15 foils, MH2 regular, MH2 extended, foils of both, and old border/old foil. where do we think old border version nonfoil will end up, as far as ranking of the options and pricing? I want to get one of each if i can.
