if you wanna buy singles to play, id hold off for a couple of weeks till the market gets saturated. if you have no interest in playing, and its just about expanding your collection then rotation next year is when prices will bottom out (for non-foils at least). most probably wont wanna wait that long, but just go in aware prices will likely dip.
Had no choice but to buy one blast zone right away for 7$, because going to use it in UW. However, for the japanese versions of the walkers that I like to get, can wait until the prices have settled a bit.
Oh yeah, most definitely. Although there are quite a few alternate art PWers I want, Narset, Parter of Veils is right at the top.
What do you guys think about its current $15 price? Buy or wait?

I think Colt is right. We should wait. Although of course if you have plenty of money.. you can go ahead and buy. /just kidding >__<
Hmm, I already have a playset of normal Narset. Buying a jap art of her would count as pimping. and I don't really have much disposable income to pimp decks right now. Giving priority to buy things needed to compete first before any attempt to pimp. Still need two hangarback for my delirium deck, and those would come first before jap narset.
The WAR situation is a bit of a mess, but not so much in a way that is obvious to the average buyer. It seems that the distributors either didn't order enough product and then got caught in a bad situation, or wizards withheld product to improve early reception and keep box sales moving at a steady clip. The result is a lot of smaller stores didn't get their full allocations since the distributors favor the people with the largest scale orders. That means places like CFB, CK, SCG, and Sports and More got a lot of product and everyone else got less.
Then on top of this, there is the problem with the Mythic Edition sales on Ebay plus the company wants to do a special Japanese card promotion, which means having to dedicate resources to not only print english boxes, but Japanese boxes of the same set. Then they are also releasing the Japanese promotional walkers at a rate of 1/4 prize packs.
War of the Spark is probably going to get opened even more than Dominaria thanks to the theme and power of the set, resulting in an implosion of the card values in the set and an inflation of all the shocklands as people rush to get their mana bases sorted. Guilds of Ravnica and Allegiance are no longer going to be drafted heavily, leaving a limited supply of shocklands on the table.
Meanwhile, all the checklands are rotating soon, and Sulfur Falls got a 3 of spot in the UR Tempo decks. If someone wants to get the best bang for their buck, just get UR tempo. It comes with a Phoenix, three sulfur falls, and a bunch of other decent cards at a good price. There's still one lingering at my Target that I am probably going to go get while every timmy is blowing money on WAR.
Also, Rivals and Ixalan are being powered by EDH at the moment and are mostly forgotten. If you have anything you want from there I'd grab them when you have the chance. Core 2019 was dismally opened as well and a lot of the modern playable sideboard cards are dirt cheap. All the money is stuck in Nicol Bolas, the Ravager, which is going to plummet in value once rotation hits to probably 10-15 dollars before going up again due to EDH.
Dominaria got opened so much the prices are depressed heavily on the singles. I wouldn't take the price as any indication of lack of playability. We're talking Kahns of Tarkir 2.0 due to Teferi and Karn soaking up dollar value.

I don't have time to look up where/when, but, it was basically confirmed that WotC throttles new Standard sets early on to perpetuate that sense of demand. While I wouldn't be surprised if WAR ends up super popular/heavily opened, I would be surprised if the supply of shocks dried up. Prices for shocks were already pretty stagnant in-between RTR block & RTRTR, so the fact that both Ravnica sets were hits as well as Standard arguably being in the best shape its been since OG Innistrad should result in dirt cheap shocklands come rotation time.
I was hoping to get a set of verdant catacombs soon but they're $100 Canadian on face to face now. Can anyone see that changing or will I just have to bite the bullet and get them soon?
Fetchlands are expensive and should be reprinted
Wotc doesnt care and does what it wants to do
They will reprint them sooner or later but we dont know when
Today is not the best time to buy them for sure, they are high
But you can wait reprint half year or year and they will just get more expensive while you need them for your deck now
Agreed fetchlands will always be reprinted eventually it just depends on whether you can wait.
The current price is stupid high and I personally wouldn't but at that price.
My only worry about the enemy fetches, is that WoTC seems to have no intention at all reprinting them in Standard. I have a feeling they will forever use these overpriced and sought after lands as "bait", so people would buy whatever Masters product they put the enemy fetches in.
Having said that.. I'm still waiting for Marsh Flats to drop. Until then, my Mardu Pyro will be using only a set of bloodstained mires as fetches. And my BG delirium is using 4 delta and 4 heath, because sold all my verdant catacombs last year.

If you plan to play in a tournament, then i think you should buy them, but if it is casual play or just deck building then you might want to wait since its just a matter of time before reprint

Agreed. That being said I don't know if a product that is slated this year that they could show up in. I highly doubt commander and we know they won't print them in standard because khans was a cluster with fetches and duals.
Earliest I can see them popping up is next year in a supplemental draft set.
My fear right now is that wizards is changing the innovation sets into the masters sets. Modern Horizons is really a test to see what happens to the market when old cards that are good, but not modern legal, get introduced into modern through a format other than standard. I suspect anything reprinted from the olden days into modern that is actually on the level will increase dramatically due to the sudden surge of demand. Heck, I got a feeling modern will get really pricey for at least a few months after horizons hits even if modern horizons isn't that great of a set.
Imagine what happens next year if they do something like Battlebond 2, only they price it at the price of modern horizons and throw enemy fetchlands in.

they're not an immediate need as I mostly play GDS but I'd like to have verdants to play other shadow variants without the mana base being super awkward. them being $75 makes them super annoying though
Gonna depend on scope of box printings. If the set hits expectations of hype, a rare will not hold at + $20
normally id agree, but the markup on horizons boxes to nearly 2x standard sets; the 'cap' for any mythic or rares will increase proportionally.
best we can hope for is a good spread of chase cards to ensure prices are distributed evenly. for instance if most of the rares turn out to be chaff/bulk level in desirability then a 20+ dollar rare, even while in print, is plausible.

Something worth noting, is the playability of the card. Unlike Force of Will, you likely won't be jamming 4 copies into the main 60 of every deck primarily running blue. Yes, Force of Negation is a powerful card, but it is more narrow in scope than Force of Will and Pact of Negation. The ability to play it for 'free' is the only thing that props this card up onto a playable pedestal, and that doesn't offset its more narrow application.
It is not a 4 of in any format, outside of a few specific decks, including Modern.

Something interesting based on the spoilers being as relatively good as they are, is that some cards currently out of reach of budget players due to their common inclusion in top decks could see their availability rise and price drop if they get shifted out of decks in favor of new stuff, and there is actually looking like there being enough new stuff to affect lots of cards across multiple archetypes, which could be a boon for budget players, but a loss for those holding onto things that previously seemed solid but get edged out by new stuff in deck construction.
Meanwhile, a lot of the potential new archetypes that could awaken could cause some cards that fill out strategies involved that previously lacked decks to raise in price. I could see a noteworthy price raise in some of cycling cards not currently seeing much play, for instance, if an Astral Drift deck takes off. Or an assortment of random sorceries getting boosted by some Collected Conjuring deck someone figures out.
The rare lands from the horizon canopy cycle should open up a myriad of possibilities for both established archetypes and brews. Their pre-order price is unsurprisingly high, but considering they are rare in a print to demand set, I'd expect them to wind up somewhere around the 15-20 mark while in print. However, I can see the price of Horizon Canopy itself taking a hit despite it NOT being included in the set.
