I think the hype on Ancestral Vision will definitely drive it. But, just like with Goblin Dark-Dwellers, you have to run bad cards in your deck to enable it. And AV is definitely a bad card in this objectively fast format.
agreed. its a strong enabler, especially for how open it is, but i cant see electrodominance doing anything for any modern decks on the fair side of the spectrum. there just isnt much incidental value from a 3 mana deal 1 as the floor, and with AV its 2 mana deal 0. not enough to justify spending the deck slots required to make it happen. those coulda been 2 other cards that were probably just as effective while being much better on their own.

Prime Speaker Vannifar is now almost a 20 dollar card for pre-order. I wonder how high she would rise?
I expect her to drop towards the $10 mark: she has great EDH playability, but I doubt she'll be really played in Standard or Modern (I may be wrong though). If she sees a lot of play in Standard, she'll stick to the $20 range. If she is broken in Modern, she may reach Arclight Phoenix levels.
Do not forget that this is not Ixalan or Rivals of Ixalan: this will be opened a lot and, long term, a lot of the value in the set will be tied to shocklands, especially if Post-Modern becomes a thing in paper.
I'm betting against it. If I open copies, I'm selling as fast as I possibly can, especially foils. That's what I did for Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca, which I got close to $45 CAD for a foil opened during prerelease.
People have wanted Pod back for yeas. Collected Company, Chord, Evolution, people just want to tool box. If its at all close to Tier 2 or Tier 1, it will see play.
I've been seeing several posts on reddit and a few other places already planning on how they use Vannifar. So she will certainly see play.

On another entirely different thing. I currently need two thoughtseize for a semi-casual modern deck that I'm currently working on. Is 10 dollar each already a low price for thoughtseize, or should I wait for it to go down a little more?
Advice appreciated. I did buy the thoughtseize today.
Although SCG increased the price by one dollar, it still feels ok. As thoughtseize can be used in several decks.
No, should not influence those cards at all, since it is not that good of an card to begin with. It would only make As Foretold better, since you get another pay off card.

10 bucks tops. Card is decent, but won't be nearly as good as Pod. Doubt it will see play in Standard, cause of the lack of good chains/combos and as a pure value deck it won't do anything (as was the case for Pod and Evolution).

What I play or have:
Modern/Legacy
either funpolice (Delver, Deathcloud, UW Control) or the fun decks (especially those ft. Griselbrand)
a new set of challenger decks is officially coming in april. if its like the last it will have high value cards coming up for rotation. with cross format playables as 1-ofs, and standard inclusive staples as 4-ofs.
teferi fits the bill, and search for azcanta as well. one way that teferi might not be chosen is if they dont want to do another UW control-ish deck.
The fact that she’s a 1 card kill really makes it hard to see her not see modern play. Chord at eot means untap and you’re dead kinda like twin was. If you’re really interested in the deck just buy now because if it does see play like Phoenix it’ll be $$$.
As much as I like to get on the Vannifar train, don't really have any funds left for her. The buying of the thoughtseize are my last funds for this month.

@tronix
thanks for the news. Any, chance to know what would be included in those challenger decks?
I know the bluffs are pretty cheap due to to relatively low play and a recent reprint but will the blackcleaves be a safe pickup for now? They're $55ish Canadian and the bridges are $60ish for the Masters 25 ones
No, they are not, in my opinion, for these reasons:
1) They have reached a peak when BBE was unbanned, which was a couple of weeks after Mardu Pyromancer and Hollow One broke out. Since then, its price has stabilized, and the decks which run 4x Blackcleave Cliffs (Jund, Mardu and Hollow One) have lost some/a lot of popularity.
2) All of the Mirrodin fastlands have prices which warrant their reprinting. They are among the most costly non-fetchlands lands in Modern.
3) They are safe to reprint in Standard (the enemy ones are in Kaladesh).
4) If WotC want enemy/allied mana parity in their post-modern format, and if it starts at or before Kaladesh, it would mean fastlands sooner rather than later.
5) (Story) Karn wants to return to New Phyrexia, which would be the best moment to reprint them (their names are not plane-agnostic).
I believe we might be visiting New Phyrexia as early as fall 2019 (the set after Core 2020), since it was hinted at in the story. I have already sold of my playset, and replaced them with 3x Dragonskull Summit and a shockland in my Mardu deck (which sits mostly unused anyway). I would recommend selling them as well, if you don't use them: I doubt they will reach much higher than what they are right now.
doesnt RNA, core 2020, and war of the spark cover 2019 though? (war of the spark is the 3rd ravnica set not guild based and the showdown between the gatewatch crew and bolas)
i do think the allied fastlands are prime for a reprint. since they are story locked card names though they can only show up in a core set, a supplementary set, or an actual phyrexia set.
thanks for the news. Any, chance to know what would be included in those challenger decks?
unfortunately i havent seen anything official so it is all just speculation at this point. assuming they are like the last challenger decks i do think it narrows down the list somewhat. id be looking out for ixalan block, core 2019, and dominaria cards that are costly for standard.

I thought they had the pattern of a new plane next, before a return? I would think everything goes to hell in rtrtr 3, then after Core or maybe with it, the fall set sets up the return of NPH, and they go nuts. Phyrexian mana, infect, the works

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
We have no idea what they plan anymore. Blocks can consist of 1,2 or 3 sets. There could be a 2-set block on "Viking World", then a "Let's blow up New Phyrexia" 1-set block (though without infect, phyrexian mana, or the works). that said, I think there's no chance they want Phyrexian mana in their "perfect" post-modern format.
In front of the Stronghold's broken doors, Gideon was giving Teferi the Gatewatch oath while Chandra stood by. Karn and Jaya had agreed to join the fight against Bolas, but hadn't agreed to take the oath. Karn because he meant to leave soon to continue his effort to destroy New Phyrexia, and Jaya because, as she had said, "I'm not a joiner."
I believe they're gonna be in both foil and non foil depending on what kind of events you play
edit: foils are for main events and fanatic packages, non foils are for double ups and PTQs
