I am really excited about the possibility of RG valakut becoming a lower-cost tiered deck like burn did with the goblin guide reprinting. As of this morning, not only is M19 Scapeshift around $13, but the attempt to spike Valakut is wavering, too (I was worried it wouldn't a little, but it is a super niche card that only sees play in one format in one deck so it is tougher to try to abuse a buyout). It has fallen from that low 20s to 14-15. A solid $120 has been basically shaved off the price of that deck.
Not every deck has to be $300-500, but in my opinion the more options players have to be highly competitive in that lower tier price-wise, the better it is for the format. I may have to build a second deck.
Yes, this is definitely good for the format. I have owned and played Titanshift and/or RG Breach for quite a while. I have to admit that it's somewhat frustrating to play against it, but there are many other decks that take that trophy over these such decks. Whenever I feel that people are going to be playing a bunch of fair decks, I default to Titanshift. I love the GBx matchup! Don't mind Humans, Tron, or CoCo decks either.

Have noticed that Tarmgoyf M17 price have dropped back to the 60's again. Is this because there is no strong goyf deck in Modern right now?
While Grixis Delver in Legacy didn't play it, I assume that the DRS banning has people selling out of other decks that included 'goyf, dropping its demand in Legacy right now. I don't think Modern has had a great 'goyf deck in a little while so I doubt it has much to do with Modern.
Hmm, I did hear that drs got banned in Legacy. That could be one reason I guess.

Goyf and the rest of the Jund band had slight price bumps following BBE's unban; since then Jund w/ BBE has been underwhelming, so prices are probably readjusting. Lilly is dropping back to Earth as well. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see its price creep up over the next few months due to organic Legacy demand. No more DRS = more Goyfs in Legacy. I had a play set listed on eBay for ~220 prior to the DRS ban, but took it down real quick once I noticed a spike in views/offers. IMO Goyf will need to be a force in Modern again to get back to the 100 mark, but shaking up the Legacy metagame should at least raise the floor on its price for a bit.
SCG reduced the price a bit more. Yesterday it was 80 something for NM, andthey dropped it to 74.99, 67 something for their slightly played yesterday, today it' s 63.99. I guess the prices of some vendors at TCG player would be even lower.
Currently have 2, and getting tempted to buy one more goyf now. Thinking of using the store credit I have at SCG. Or maybe wait fo r the prices to drop a little more?
Gotta say when I opened Mox Opal and Karn Liberated in MM2 I never expected it to turn out better than opening Tarmogoyfs.
You saved them? Nice. I didn't open much MM2 (only at the Las Vegas GP), but had play sets from New Phyrexia and Mirrodin Besieged.

Hey Folks, whats the card stock like for the M25 set and the foils?
Still *****, just slightly better than KLD/AER/AKH/HOU. Only Battlebond has actually improved on card quality, IMHO.
Really? Damn. Are the foils better/thicker than the normal stock? I wanted to pick up some of the new Blood Moon, but if the card stock/foils are garbage I'll look elsewhere.

That's because Battlebond was, IIRC, printed in Japan instead of Texas. To make matters worse(?), it's an entirely different card stock using purple cores. The printer used the same card stock for the token cards as well.
Hey Folks, whats the card stock like for the M25 set and the foils?
It's the same stock and coating used for Rivals and Ixalan. So store them carefully and keep heat and humidity exposure level.
Btw, core 2019 is blue core like Dominaria. Battlebond is purple due to the materials used being the same as Japanese cards the last few years. Kind of sad I was able to check this due to water damage on a recent order. RIP 40 usd in cards + shipping.

Sell or hold arcbound ravager? Seems overdue for a reprint. But also seems like one of those cards that could get bumped up to mythic.
It doesn't look like commander material. I'd imagine we might see it in a winter product or next summer.

If you're not using them to play, I would suggest to sell the Ravagers once you see a good buyer. Sold mine a few months ago without regrets. It's a card that could suddenly get reprinted, better sell while the price is high.
Azusa, Crucible of Worlds are two cards I sold at a high price - just barely - before they got reprinted and the prices dropped upon reprint.
Wizards reprinting a lot of things actually triggered me into a selling spree.. until the only semi expensive / expensive cards I own for Modern now are 2 goyfs and a bunch of hoarded khans fetch lands.

Thanks Colt. Weird thing is my Search for Azcanta is fine card stock, or 'feels' better, while my Field of Ruin play set feels like it may as well be tissue paper, even double sleeved...I think I will get those checked, maybe they are fakes.

Like Battlebond, Search for Azcanta was printed on different card stock. Unlike Battlebond, or any other MtG card, there's no core.
When I checked this morning.. it's now this. And the stock is still 33 pieces, could mean that nobody is buying.. and of course, some prices at TCGplayer are probably lower.

No, they probably are real. There was some variation in quality with Ixalan. I forgot which run it was, but some of the cards were missing anti-counterfit measures as well. There was also a batch of ixalan cards that were done on the same stock as tokens.
Edit: Yeah, I just remembered. It was the double faced cards that had a bunch that were done on token card stock. It was supposed to be a rare misprint issue so if your Azcanta is actually one of those misprints you might have some money on your hands. It depends on if the market is still going for those.

They for sure feel thicker than the Field of Ruin, but whatever I'm happy with them. I saw a set of Foil Search's though, and man the foiling is super nice on those, some of my favourites for sure.
SCG pulling levers and pushing buttons to change the prices of cards on their own site isn't indicative of market demand, so trying to read into it will only get you a headache.
In other news, how's new Karn working out? He seemed to be the bell of the ball around release, but I've noticed a lot of Affinity lists dropping him altogether. Not sure if he sees Modern play elsewhere, but if so I'm curious to know where.

It's funny. I wanted a Karn, Scion of Urza, in fact 2 of them so badly that I traded 18 packs of Dominaria and 2 FNM Opt for 1 for Affinity. Then I ended up selling Affinity with that Karn for $800 with no SB.
Just 2 weeks ago, I bought Affinity from another seller for $600, but missing 1 Mox Opal. Then I bought 2 Karn, Scion of Urza for it for $56 shipped in PWE off FB, but there is some mail snafu. Haven't received them yet and it's been over a week.
Basically my point is that Karn, Scion of Urza went down from $60 at its ceiling to around $28 now. I did feel like it would continue to drop, but too slowly for my own patience, lol. I think it's still really good in Affinity. In fact, I lost to Affinity because of a turn 3 Karn on the play when I was Bogles at a recent Staples tournament. I think it's still really strong and outside of players experimenting with Hardened Scales Affinity (which 2 Affinity players have told me is worse), Karn Affinity is the way to go. I'll test myself pretty soon.
P.S. - That 32 person tournament had 6 Affinity players, although 2 were Hardened Scales. I played in a 48 person tournament the next day that had 1 Affinity (same Hardened Scales dude from the day before that I played in round 2). So I think it's off and on, but I think players are not thinking that Affinity is as well placed in the meta.
