Anyone have any idea on when would be good to go in on Noble? I assume if not reprinted in M25 they are going to spike again?
I wish I knew; I've been mulling over this as well. Overhauling my ramp package in Ponza and I need four Nobles, however, I'm not going to drop $240 on a playset with M25 around the corner. I ultimately decided to just wait it out and play another one of my Modern decks until we inevitably get a reprint.
Noble was around $20-$25 when M15 came out. But that was a few years ago now and it's been picked up in multiple decks. I have a feeling it'll continue to climb as it's an important card in a lot of BBE/Jace decks. If it's printed in M25 (I hope it is) it should dip quite a bit. I need a playset too.
What are people's thoughts on Chalice of the Void? I just came back from a hiatus and saw it's climbed to $77. I originally got it for brewing with UB Tezzeret (which benefits disproportionately from Jace, IMO), but I'm not really big on the deck at the moment and having a $300 playset of a card I never use and is a likely reprint target is making me anxious.
I also have no real plans to build Eldrazi or... does anything else run that card at the moment?
Edit Oh right, Free Win Red. Considered that one for a while but I don't really like piloting prison decks.

I run it in Free Win Red (which, admittedly, is a niche deck and is not the main deck I use). But, it is not used in much and if you have no plans for it, I would get rid of them now. They may or may not be in Masters 25, but they can be reprinted at any time in a Masters set. Once they are, the price will likely go down due to the low usage in Modern.
I personally would hold onto them. I have some info regarding vendors trying to buy Chalice of the Void from other vendors from a friend. I personally feel like Chalice of the Void and Ensnaring Bridge are cards that WotC really doesn't want to encourage by printing more copies. Just my personal feeling...

Sell them... if you don't have any plans to use them in any of your decks.. sell them. That's what I recently did with all my unused expensive cards that I feel have maxed out on prices.. Mox Opal, Scalding Tarn, Azusa, Ravager.. and many others. You will end up with money to buy what you want / need for future deck building.

Unsettling, but for totally selfish reasons I hope you're right. Bogles just made it back to Tier 2; a new influx of Chalices into the market would really rain on our parade
Chalice AND Bridge really need a reprint. Yeah the strat's they play in are 'bad magic' for a lot of people, but they are expensive as hell...
If only I had a nickel for every time I've gotten that reaction...
Very true though. Assuming neither are reprinted in M25, I think the writing is on the wall; both of their prices have been inflated for quite a while, so I'm sure WotC was aware of the need during M25 development.
no stores around here are taking any Jaces right now, one store sold 3 or 4 nt long after they were unbanned.
what cards have been spiking due to his unban?
Off the top of my head:
-Logic Knot
-Entreat the Angels
-Celestial Colonnade (Was already climbing, but now it's getting more ridiculous)
-Disrupting Shoal
-Foil Dreadbore (and regular versions, I believe?)
-Cryptic Command
However, I believe that these prices will adjust themselves sooner than later; either due to reprints or due to Jace being overhyped. IMO, Jace is a very reasonable unban and won't have as big an impact on the meta as people think. It seems like the cards that are spiking in response to BBE are the ones which are most likely to climb/retain their price point, until they're reprinted of course.

He has been a vendor at a major swap meet for collectibles that is 50 mi from where I live. He said that they were selling a lot of Twins before it got banned. Selling fetches before MM17, etc.
He, at least, has come to believe that there is some info that is given. I feel some of it is probably speculation. It wasn't long ago that I told friends that I literally wish I had $10K extra to drop on Jace, the Mind Sculptor. Still, even though the unbanning came 1 announcement quicker than I thought, I had 11 extras. It's just that at $60, I couldn't really afford to wait until Wizards realizes that it should be okay.

That feeling makes our (Joban, among other Boglers) day! Our opponent is like okay, fetch, Temple Garden, what Noble Hierarch, Birds of Paradise? Nope. A slippery fella. You're in for a fun one (or quite the opposite).
I will almost always lead on Slippery Bogle rather than Gladecover Scout because of that "iconic feeling" unless I know for sure that my opponent is on Merfolk and I can later cast the Bogle off a Spreading Seas land. I know it's not always the right strategy, but Slippery Bogle seems to deflate a lot of air out of the sails. Everyone's gotta have their motivation for playing, right?

I oddly enough dont even Tilt on a Bogles anymore, its Cavern's of Souls decks that always get me, or anything Eldrazi. OR! Yes this is it, my personal hell, Eldrazi and Taxes.
I already hate Death and Taxes, then you put a TKS in that? I tilt instantly and lose.
So with the unbannings, what decks/cards are safe to pick up? I'm looking to expand my Modern collection quite significantly, but I don't want to make stupid decisions. Anything blue involving Jace or BGx seem bad right now. Humans seems like it'll drop off as the deck becomes less popular and Azusa's getting reprinted soon. Lantern seems really poorly positioned at the moment as well, on top of prices probably being at an all time high from Luis Salvatto's win.

I don't think there's one correct answer, so I'd say it depends on what your current Modern collection looks like. If it's rather small, then I'd suggest picking up your typical land staples, so you have a solid mana foundation to build upon. Other than that, if you're looking for stability then you can't go wrong with Burn/Affinity/Jund staples. However, BBE looks like she's getting the ol' Jund band back together, so now probably isn't the best time to go down that route. Your best bet would probably be waiting until Masters 25 is spoiled before putting any considerable amount of money into the format.
My sig shows I have a ton of stuff. I have most shocks/fetches, just missing Marsh Flats and a couple here and there. The few big ticket items I'm missing are: Jaces, Goyfs, Marsh Flats, Scapeshifts, a couple Caverns, Bridges, Azusa, some fast lands, Canopies, Groves, it trickles down from there.
I'm mostly on the camp right now that the best plan is to find cards that aren't affected by the changes to the format and grab that stuff. Not sure if Goyf itself is going to change, I'm hoping to grab Japanese Future Sight ones (yeah, I know, they're more expensive), but now might be a good time if their value doesn't change.
You guys are probably right that I should be waiting until Masters 25.

I was about to buy into control, then Mothership unban BBE and Jace, then my hopes of playing control in Modern were crushed. So I bought Burn (was thinking about Bogles) and am pretty happy about it : got the Burn staples, can port it into Legacy easily also and it's a deck that has always been around and always will be. So I'm with you : buy some cards / deck that are not affected by the unbanings. Decks like Burn, Bogles, Ad Nauseam, Grishoalbrand, etc. (I see you already have Affinity, Storm, Merfolk, Dredge, Infect, so there's less choices lol)!
Aside, prices are ridiculous when it comes to Snapcaster Mage (81$ CAD), Colonnade (76$ CAD) and Cryptic Command (39 CAD). Tarn is at 83-89$ CAD. So I'm not willing to invest in such conditions. I shorted the market last Summer.
I actually have Snaps, Colonnades, Cryptics, and all the blue fetches. I just didn't keep up with the deck when they started playing Nahiri and forward. It's just a matter of making smart investments.
I actually think chalice is on the shortlist for a reprint, but I don't think it will show up in masters 25. Its just a really hard to reprint card in a draft set. Plus wizards reprinting exactly what the community needs in a timely fashion is sort of a fairytale.

I'd have thought it nearly ideal for a draft set. In a draft set it's actually fair, because a draft format will force people to play a wide range of different casting costs, and there's unlikely to be any sort of Sol land available that would let people land it for X=1 on turn 1.
It would surely be playable, but not crippling, to drop it on X=2 or 3 in limited and neuter some relevant but not decimating percentage of your opponent's draws for the rest of the game.

It's not so much that as the theme of the next masters set. I think it's a better card for the team battle set as a mythic to help drive the sales. We got three sets that have a lot of reprints coming up.

Hows the foiling on Iconic Masters vs Zendikar or older foils?
I got a foil pack fresh Horizon Canopy and a near perfect condition foil from scars block of a Prototype Portal. It's not even close to comparable. The scars block foil is far more reflective and I can actually see my finger when poised at an angle and has more color to it. The other foil feels kind of barely there. Not sure if it is because one is an artifact, but I actually have trouble telling it is a foil until I take it out of the binder and compare it to the non-foil version.
