I did a draft with GOR yesterday for draft weekend and I didn't know what to expect, lucky for me I opened a Watery Grave in the first pack which I took and I got passed Notion Rain and then I tried to edge towards Dimir although I was open for an Izzet splash.
To make a long story short although I got cut off of blue creatures I did manage to snag a few black creatures and stick to Dimir so as not to screw up my mana base and go 3 color. This is the deck I drafted below:
quasiduplicate - it was a 7th or 8th pick, not sure why because this gives you 2 extra copies of whatever your best creature in play is. It was fun to copy bartizan bats or even hired poisoner. hired poisoner - kept things in check and owned a selesnya deck until I could get my fliers out to beat down in the air. moodmark painter- she helped win a couple of games by giving a +7 one time on a flying guy to help deal 10 damage in one turn. veiled shade- I won a game by pumping it up every turn since I was flooding with mana so I was attacking each turn to keep the opponent down. notion rain- The bees knees!
I decided to play 16 lands because all my guys are low to the ground and I had 1 dimir locket, and I was very happy with that decision, as I didn't get mana screwed very often and I didn't have any mana problems being only in 2 colors.
I went 2-1 and I lost to one very aggro boros deck because his creatures were bigger and he got a flier out very quickly which I couldn't deal with since I didn't draw any removal that game. I think that a dimir aggro and low to the ground deck is very good in this draft format, we only have to watch out for boros.
