I'm not really a Narset guy in limited. By the time she comes down there are too many big butts in this format that just straight up kill her. Plus I'd rather not be committed to three colors with my first pick unless the power level is sky-high.
I think Mardu Skullhunter, Become Immense and Frontier Bivouac at least merit consideration here. In a weak pack that didn't have a tri-land I'd consider the Tranquil Cove too, but there's really no reason to look at that with Bivouac in the pack.
It really comes down to Skullhunter and Bivouac for me in this pack. I'm not thrilled about first-picking either one, but they'll have to do.
I'm going to go ahead and take Frontier Bivouac and keep myself open to UG, which in my experience has been both strong and underdrafted online. We'll see if that holds true here.
Lots of black in this pack, but it's early enough that there's no real way to say whether that's a signal or a quirk, especially with the rare missing.
For me it comes down to Debilitating Injury, Arrow Storm, Thornwood Falls, Bear's Companion and Mardu Skullhunter in terms of power level. I've also been more impressed with Swarm of Bloodflies than one would think for a 5-mana 2-power flyer.
Still though, most of those cards aren't really what I want to be second-picking, and I don't think it makes sense to take Thornwood Falls on top of Frontier Bivouac without a reason to believe that I'm definitely UG.
Even though it doesn't match my first pick I think I have to take Debilitating Injury just for being the best card, and if I end up Sultai (or Jund, which I've done before) I can still use the Bivouac for fixing.
Bleh. I hate to sound like "that guy" to anybody who reads this later, but these packs just seem weak. The only things I feel even remotely happy about taking are the Smoke Teller and the Dismal Backwater.
Banking on the idea that it will be easier to find two-drops late rather than finding mana-fixing late, I'll take the Dismal Backwater.
I do think there is some merit to Despise, but I don't think it's a card to take this highly. Maybe I'm wrong about that? It's just never more than a 1-for-1, and if you don't have the proper timing it's actually a 0-for-1.
Well there's a mix of cards to consider here, but with a solid card here in Mardu Skullhunter that fits right with Debilitating Injury it's probably time to settle a little bit. If UR really turns out to be what's open I'll miss the Winterflame, but I don't think it makes sense to stretch into three colors that aren't even wedged with my first two picks.
I'll take Mardu Skullhunter and hope the solid black keeps coming.
I haven't seen much actual good red or white, so I don't think taking the Ponyback Brigade is likely to pay off. I wish Kheru Lich Lord were a slightly better card, but it's really not good enough for a three-color commitment. I've played against it a few times and it's never been too hard to either kill or race.
I think it comes down to Swarm of Bloodflies or Krumar Bond-Kin as on-color playables. Rite of the Serpent is OK in a pinch, but I'd rather not maindeck it if I don't have to.
I'll take Swarm of Bloodflies. Not very impressed with my deck so far, but such is the nature of draft sometimes. Gotta give it time to play out.
Definitely seems like shifting away from blue is warranted. I don't see another Dismal Backwater being a productive pick unless something changes.
The question now is whether I'm supposed to be shifting into BW or not. (There's a part of me that wonders if I've just misread things all along, but it's not like there are cards here that are obviously way more powerful than others.)
Anyway, Kin-Tree Invocation has the highest upside out of anything here and should be useful whether I'm in BWg or BGx so I'll go with it. The only other card I'm really considering is the Smite the Monstrous, but I'll pass on that.
One person at the table was away for a bit, causing all the packs to be lined up there. That person is back now though, so you should get a pick again soon.

So just when I think I understand what's happening a fair chunk of playable red and blue comes around. Alabaster Kirin's no slouch either.
Well at least I have some fixing towards Snowhorn Rider. I'll take that as a morph that I already have two pieces of fixing towards. Sigh.

I briefly considered the Scaldkin, but the ceiling on that is pretty low.
