So I'm watching my friend play in a no-Top-8 event, and the ground was stalled while his opponent was putting flying beats on with Avian Changeling. He drops Goatnapper to steal his opponent's Changeling, smashes the guy with it, then Champions it with a Changeling Titan. The other guy just kinda sat there for a minute, and I can only imagine he sort of looked like a deer in the headlights, wondering how he was going to deal with a 7/7 for 5 that just ate his only means of offense.
So what plays have you seen so far in Lorwyn limited that just completely ruined someone's day? Did you put the EPIC beats down on someone? Did your opponent 4-for-1 you with some kind of MAD HAX? Share your Lorwyn stories of joy and of woe!!
Well I was sitting at 6 mana the other day with a profane command in hand and a mulldrifter in my graveyard and I got owned by a thieving sprite...
Another time I was at 17 my opponent at 2, and he dropped an arbiter of knollridge and gained 15 life and played a mirror entity the next turn..
One time my opponent wrathed me with Austere Command and I played footbottom feast putting 2 silvergill adepts and like 4 other merfolk on top and had 6 creatures back in play in two turns lol.
My opponent has a Hamletback Goliath and Aethersnipe and is sitting at 8 life. I play a mudbutton torchrunner, block the goliath and throw 3 damage at his face. Next turn I Consuming bonfire my own changeling hero which had glimmerdust nap on it, to get back a mudbutton torchrunner underneath it. Next turn I chump the 13/13 hamletback goliath, throw 3 more at my opponent's face and tarfire him for the win, the turn before he would kill me. Sometimes you just have to burn out your own creature.
My board consists of Brion Stoutarm and Sentinals of Glen Elendra. My opponent has 2 runed stalactites and 7 merfolk/kithkin all with CMC 3 or less. Austere Command for artifacts and creatures 3 or less, for a one-sided wrath and shatterstorm.
My opponent's at 12, has four guys out, one of them being a Balloonist. He swings in with the Balloonist and another 2/2, giving him flying and leaving up two blockers. I'm down to 4. I swing with Hearthcage Giant, his two elemental friends, and two Smokebraiders (my whole board). He blocks the Giant and an Elemental token, which would put him at 7. I Blades of Velis Vel the two Smokebraiders, making them 3/1s, and sacrifice the blocked Elemental token to pump one of them (since they're now all creature types, they're also Giants), and hit him for exactly 12 (6/2 Smokebraider, 3/1 Smokebraider, 3/1 token).
My opponent's at 13, I'm at 3, he has a Dread in play. I topdeck arbiter of knollridge, play it, forget that I have a discount from stinkdrinker, and take burn down to 11. Take a hit to 5, topdeck oblivion ring, win in short order XD.
I was playing a friend in draft, and TWICE, KNOWING that he had Warren Pilferers in hand (either from footbottom feast or a harbinger), I killed his mulldrifter. Next turn he just laughed while I felt like the worst magic player ever. /selfpwned
Later, in a game just for fun, he lays turn 1 wanderer's twig, turn two blue changeling. Since it was just for fun, I considered oblivion ringing the twig, just to see if it would randomly mana screw him. I opt not to, then next turn when he sacs the twig, he reveals 7 lands and a springleaf drum on top of his library. I would have easily won if I ring'ed the twig.
Turn two dolmen's gate, turn 5 Nath's Elite, game.
Was getting slowly beaten away at by lots of elf tokens backed up by mr perfect and a bunch of random dorks when I finally drew thoughtweft trio and cast it. Not having many options available against kithkinzilla, opponent decided on all in...either kill it or me, depending on the blocks.
Double Goatnapper for Mirror Entity and Cairn Wanderer. Those were the only creatures in play. I wonder why the one controlling those didn't use the entity's ability. Did he think the opponent didn't notice?
This was in Sealed. My brother's opponent has a Mirror Entity and a bunch of creatures and attacks for a lot of damage. My brother's dead (or loses his board to chump-blocking) on next turn's attack. He topdecks Goatnapper and plays it targetting the Entity. If my brother gets to activate Entity, his own team will be large enough to kill the opponent, so the opponet has no choice but to activate Entity for 0, killing all his creatures, and he has no cards left in hand. So he then topdecks Warren Pilferers, gets back Entity and proceeds to win on it.
You really just need to embrace the rage. I keep a small colony of hamsters next to my computer and every time I lose a match to mana screw I throw one against the wall.
I just played a top 8 with a pool of dread, wydwen, immaculate magistrate, and all kinds of merfolk and fairie goodness. My first 3 opponents I came from behind repeatedly being down by at least 15 life.
My first opponent got so mad because he took me down to 5 and 2 respectively and I still won that he typed, "ok so I just lost to captain tard," then said, "oops wrong window." Im sure it was. Another game it was 33-12 and I won by stabilizing the board and dropping dread.
The greater elementals are devastating... I faced a vigor who I thankfully had answers for. I do have a bit less respect for the plainswalkers. They are quite powerful but slow and if you get over the, oh crap, factor can be played around.
I thought my deck was really good. It dug so deeply out of holes it was rediculous. Unfortunately I went 3-2. I ended up playing the champion of the tourny round 4 (sick boggart, elemental deck) and round 5 just got beaten by my opponents better card drawing. So close to that mirror entity avatar...
I love lorwyn. Great set that can win from so many angles.
sealed game. he's at 9 I'm at 5 and he has purity in play that'll kill me next turn if I don't draw right. I rip fodder off the top already had giants ire in hand an 9 mana. sacced one of my gobs to the fodder for 5 damage and threw the ire to his face for the win.
Really? Did you use something else to deal with extra point of toughness. -5/-5 doesn't seem too effective against a 6/6. If it happened, it happened, but more info might be nice to fill in the gaps in the story.
Or we slowly drift to the reality plane wher newlyearthbound actually lives.....:P
I have a board of silvergill douser, harpoon sniper, stonybrookangler, merrow reejery and avian changeling, He has cloudcrown oak, scarred vinebreeder, imperious perfect, 3X elf tokens, I'm slowly winning the damage race through sniper for blockers, with him on 6 me on 12 he final revels and I whirpool whelm back my sniper. He swings with the oak and I go to 9. I replay sniper and another douser with tideshaper and infathom in hand. He swings I don't block.....epic proportions :'( dammit I hate that card.
Proportions would put you to 1, and the next turn you'd have more than enough toughness to block it (play the other two merfolk, you block with Sniper/Inkfathom, then Snipe and Douse it. It's a 4/9 with 4 damage on it and you're blocking with 5 power).
Unless you meant to say you were at 11 and 8, or you only had like four lands or something. >_>
It's his turn, he plays some removal card, targeting my Drowners. I play Lace with Moonglove, top-deck a Whirlpool Whelm, tap Drowner and Changeling to mill 2 cards (and gain 2 life), then bounce my Drowner.
He swings with the Tideshaper, Snipe and Diver, exactly the 8 damage needed to kill me, then uses the Angler to tap my lone blocker...the Judge of Currents.

Player 1's turn, he Ichor Slicks his own trapper, and Player 2 responds by playing Brute Force on said trapper.
Wierdest pair of plays ever.
One of my games, Lorwyn limited. Opponent has 4 cards in his library left, with a Stonybrook Angler, Tideshaper Mystic, Inkfathom Divers and Aethersnipe.
I have Judge of Currents, Drowner of Secrets, Woodland Changeling untapped, and have 6 life left.
Player 2 has a lot of creatures with more than 3 toughness.
Player 2 Alpha strikes!.
Player 1 Lace with Moongloves the Brigid..
o.O
Oh.. and someone turn, rivered a royal flush on me yesterday before FNM.....
