Awaken the Bear is a solid combat trick. Windstorm may be a nice sideboard card, but with us struggling to find our colors, we need cards that can make it into the main.
Exodus, you're half-right that our early picks were black and green. Four of our five first picks were BG, but they weren't good cards. The best card in our early pool is arrow storm. And, looking at the whole pool, our best cards overall are longshot squad, monatery flock, arrow storm, and treasure cruise. That's pretty temur. Sultai is still an option, in which case we cut the yeti... and if there were a good sultai card in that pack, we'd have taken it. But the only good cards in the pack were temur.
As far as the banner being better than the yeti, I just don't see it. The banners are a cycle of three-drop fixing in a set with plentiful dual lands and a glut of three-drops. They are bad, and I'm never happy playing them. They are excusable in four-color decks that didn't quite get there, but all the best decks (even 4 and 5 color) make do with lands and morphs, not banners.
Looks more like Temur to me. Losing black won't harm us much, and I'm happy to play Arrow Storm. I'm taking the green 2-drop for the curve either way, Highland Game.
Highland Game for sure. I'm also in the Temur camp right now. Arrow Storm is probably our best card, and Retribution of the Ancients is a blank. That said, we can go either Sultai or Temur depending on what we see early in pack 2, which is not a terrible place to be.
highland game. I agree, funk. Leaning towards RGu, but let's just see what we open.
There's an argument for the yeti here. One of the things I like about this format is that there are these "secret" two-ally-color decks that don't really play like the wedge they are supposed to belong to. The big ones are RB control, and RG and WG agro. We look a lot like a good RG deck right now: big, efficient, good curve, direct damage and combat tricks... and the best cards for that deck are the 4/2 bear, the 4/3 yeti and awaken the bear to beat morph blocks and double blocks.
All that said, going temur or sultai are also great choices, and highland game is good in both those decks *and* RG. Besides, we've already got two four drops.
Efreet Weaponmaster. Could even splash it if we pick up some fixing, or play it as an off-color morph if we're desperate. The spells here are just bad.
I take the Flock over the blue Piker. It just has so much more utility for just one additional mana. We still have two more packs to fill the 2-mana slot.
