Awaken the Bear. I'm somehow still living the dream of playing Jund in a Clan set. Interestingly, what we've been passed this time is Esper, which probably means, black and red won't be that plentiful in pack 3.
If we end up BG instead of BRW (cutting the red cards), we'll want the awaken the bear. But it's also possible we end up white and black, splashing red (cutting only the twins). In that case, the kirin is the pick. Between the two, the kirin seem to be the best fit. The BG control deck, if we go that way, won't really need a combat trick as much as a mardu deck will want an evasive threat.
As far as going full-on jund... it's not that the fixing isn't there, it's that the payoffs aren't there. You'll just be playing a bunch of red green and black cards together, and you'll have al the consistency problems of a three-color deck. Meanwhile, the other three-color decks will have those problems, but also will have access to sweet three-color payoffs that are in the wedges. So it's tough for a full-on jund deck to compete with a full-on wedge deck.
That said, ending up splashing a third color for a sweet bomb or removal, if that technically makes us a shard... I'm all for it. In fact, I've played jund (and esper and grixis) decks in this format before, splashing black for dead drop.
Jeskai looks open (because of the general composition of the pack, not Narset), but the power of our black cards is too high to give up at this point to switch to UWR. Instead, the salt road patrol is a good, slow card that fits most versions of the deck.
banner. I would love for my opponents to play any of the other cards against me, and it may give them a nudge out of our colors. Whereas the banner might give someone the idea they can splash a red bomb they open next pack...
