This is a draft excercise, where people can vote on this particular player's next pick in the draft. Scroll down to the latest post to see the current choices.
This excercise has concluded. If you are interested in how this player's pool turned out, go to the end of the thread, and maybe try your hand at building the deck.
Traxos is a nice built around bomb, so getting it this early gives us plenty of opportunity to make it the center of the deck. Plus taking it keeps all colors open. Wizard's Lightning is a good runner-up, good splashable removal is never a bad thing to take.
The first pick Traxos will make the deck, if we get enough historic stuff. Probbaly should start picking those early as other players want them too for their historic interctions. Here we have Tetsuko and the Lance, the former is a small unblockable creature, the other does not lock us into any color plus Traxos with a Lance seems brutal. But the Lance is not that powerful and as a common we can likely get another. The Baloth and some other stuff is solid, too. But here I'll pick Tetsuko to fill up the historic count.
There's only the Shield in terms of historic cards, and I'm not likely to play that. The land will make the deck, but if we want scry and we want a lot of historic spells, then the Assistant is the better choice. The problem is, while the pack has some decent stuff but it's too early to assess the cards well, we don't know, what colors we will be in and nothing here point us into a direction. At this point, I just take the Abomination to get some more beef for the deck, and I think, we can get it some trample later to go with deathtouch, should we end up in black.
Some choices of historic cards, the Surveyor seems the best in that regard, because it makes for easier splashes. The card that stands out in this pack, though, is Skizzik. It's essentially a 5/3 hasty trampler for 3RR, quite a color commitment. We also pased the Wizard's Lightning in pack 1, and haven's seen much red since then. So if we pass Skizzik, we likely put one of the following players into red, if they aren't already. So I'll be furthering the Traxos synergies with the Surveyor.
Having passed the Skizzik last pack, it would be foolish to go red now with the Raider. But passing it will assure, that the next player or the one after goes red if they aren't already. This deck is not locked into any color yet, but if Traxos is to be a focus, we should collect more historic cards. Only one option here and it seems solid, despite the fact, that it is yet another color. I hope, that it will become clearer soon, which colors are open. For now I pick Baird to increase the historic count.
There's another Surveryor for even more historic. But seeing the Aven Sentry still around, I would think that a quite clear sign, that white is open. So I'll pick the solid midrange flyer and try to go white.
Nothing too exciting left here. I think, taking the Tome to increase the historic count and get some digging power is the best choice. We want to find Traxos and should have some historic stuff in the yard to exile later in the game. Might want an Elephant, too, but we can expect another to come around later.
If you are already reading this, why not pick a card and vote? The point of this excercise is to have people collectively choose the next pick after all. You don't have to explain your choice, that is optional.

The Unicorn is not historic, but a good early creature for the deck anyway, and something for Teshar to get back.
I think Fungal Infection is the best card here, but we'd rather be blue and we're already prioritizing historic so I think Artificer's Assistant can actually be pretty good.

I'm not sold on any color except white yet, and only red seems truly closed. My pick would be the Spiral as it can recur a historic card and even Traxos itself. Though with the somewhat solid green we passed earlier, one of the next players has probaly picked it up. So not that much good green to be expected in pack two.

I would have picked the Oath. Mostly because we seem to be headed towards W/U anyway, and it's another historic card, plus we might get something worth blinking or can use it to shake an aura from Traxos.

In W/U we may still get some worthwhile enchantments to recur, and Teshar can get the Poet back even.

So far, the historic cards are a bit lacking, I think. The Voltaic Servant plays nice with all those historic triggers, and especially with Traxos. We probably can expect something good to wheel from this pack.
