This is a draft excercise, where people can vote on this particular player's next pick in the draft. Scroll down to the latest post to see the current choices.
This excercise has concluded. If you are interested in how this player's pool turned out, go to the end of the thread, and maybe try your hand at building the deck.
Nothing too exciting here. My top picks would be Squee, which can be abused in various ways, and Urza's Tome, Because looting is good in Limited and this one is potentially even card advantage, plus it keeps all colors open. But the potential shenanigans with Squee win this one for me.
In regards to shennanigans with Squee, we have Teshar here. But there is also the much jucier removal in Fight With Fire. Even if red were to close up, that card will make the deck no matter what just because of the pure power of the card.
Only one red card here, but that one is not likely to make my deck. In terms of shenanigans with Squee, we have the Omnivore. Wether black is open or not remains to be seen.
There are two choices here, in my mind, Confessor and Run Amok. While the Confessor is decent enough, there are a lot of token generators in the set, so menace is not as efficient. The combat trick, too, can get damage through, but will screw the opponent over more often.
We could take the Goblin here as the easy in-color choice, but seeing this much white, I think, going white now is the right choice. The Knight is a nice early creature, but the Pegasus can get creatures through. We will probably get more red fatties, and maybe some white beef, which can surely use the evasion.
Green or blue could be worth looking into, since the mass of white may have been a fluke last pack, or the lack of white in this pack may be. Anyway, since I think red is established as a main color by now, I take the safe pick for the lower mana curve, Warcaller. Too often I had trouble filling the low end in my drafts. I'm still somewhat hoping for more black, because of the Omnivore, but nothing in that regard here either.
Difficult choice with no red cards I'd want to play. Red seems to be cut off. But round two will get us the best red cards first. If lots of good stuff is comming, styaing in red ain't so bad. But if not, a color shift might be appropriate. In light of that, since I still want to play Fight with Fire, enabling the splash with Skittering Surveyor is probably the best choice.
If you are already reading this, why not pick a card and vote? The point of this excercise is to have people collectively choose the next pick after all. You don't have to explain your choice, that is optional.

Black seems to be the way to go. The Paladin has nice synergy with Squee, but the Witch is better on its own. I would not want too many Paladins, but I'll take the gamble here and try to get the synergy train rolling.
