I've done about six RIX drafts. I've gone 2-1 once. I went either 0-3 or 1-2 the other five. I've played MTG for around ten years, I consider myself a good player. It seems like every ******* game I play, they never mulligan, they always have the removal for the one creature that I can attack with or they curve out and I get smashed. If I play Merfolk or Vampires, I get outclassed somehow, I went 2-1 with a Dinosaur deck. It kind of seems like if you don't play a 2 drop, you fall way behind. I thought Ixalan was bad but I did 3-0 at least once. Any thoughts our suggestions? How does someone have 55 trophies? How on Earth..
If you stay in and play 24/7, you get a lot of trophies. There´s no secret to it. They might not have an insane win percentage. Of course, if you have played like 150-200 leagues, you´re probably pretty good at the format, but it´s not like someone has like 55 trophies out of 70 leagues or something.
I have a small sample size, but so far in this format, how good I think a deck looks does not correlate well with my results. I had a terrible looking BW defensive deck, a control deck with lots of weak cards, almost no removal and the white elder dino, and I went 2-1 easily with it. In my current league run I have a BR aggro deck with 3 trailblazers, 8 good removal spells and a Monstrosaur, and I´m currently 0-2. It´s more likely that I´m carrying some misconceptions about what good and bad decks look in this format. Maybe it´s the same with you.
You mention Vampire and Merfolk decks. Merfolk aren´t particularly good in this format, and tribal synergies aren´t as important as they were in triple IXL. Maybe you´re losing because you´re trying to draft IXL IXL IXL decks in RIX.
And sometimes luck isn´t in your favor. Just try to wipe away the salt and realize that you notice your own bad luck a lot more than your opponents´ bad luck, which makes it seem unfair. Human beings are just wired that way, try to see past that.

Draft more 2-drops. Also, merfolk can only really support 1 person per draft pod. I have mostly been having success with R/G midrange dinos, but make sure you have answers for flyers if you're going this route.
