I'm going to show up Friday morning, leaving from Bloomington, IL.
I won't know what archtype I'm playing for sure until Thursday I imagine...but hopefully sooner.
I fear the randomness that is the early rounds, but I'm glad the time limit is 60 minutes. I plan to play in Sunday's event too.
At gp st. louis, the side event had 10 players
4 goblins
3 thresh
2 pikula
1 monowhite
...of course they were variants of those archtypes, but i expect the numbers to look like that, but with added archtypes b/c of so many more players. i think a lot of hightides will get played, and a lot of lion's eyes i don't want to see. hopefully slow rifter decks will stay away, and hopefully lots of good players will show up.
You think only proven decks will place? This is the biggest Legacy event in a while. Innovation will be rampant. Also, the fact that Solidarity isn't represented while you have Deadguy T8'ing twice is a crime.
By the way, that "mono-white" is going to be me playing Angel Stompy
3 Thresh (some combo of UGR and UGW)
2 Goblins
1 Solidarity
1 *New Tech*
1 Salvagers/Game (So underrated)
Iggy Pop won't do that great, and Angel Stompy could easily be in there instead of a Thresh.

It's nothing special, and I haven't done any hardcore testing. The idea is to mana accel to turn 3 where I can hope to have Staff and Priest + 4 more elves for infinite mana/card draw to drop a Timberwatch in Instill Energy and bring an hoooge beater. I side in some more controllish aspects if needed and heedless one in the very unlikely mirror. I have a backup win in Demonfire and the color needed in a few lands I have. It's pretty consistent to turn 4 finisher without seeing a Force. But can recover.
Anyways, good luck to all else who show. Hopefully I'll see a few ofyou there!
That's pretty ballsy. I respect that. However, I recommend some quick testing against some combo and Goblins. I'm worried about your matchup against those decks. Try it out.

Which combo decks do you mean, and FCG? or a diff build?
I'm not sure how they would go and I'll need to proxy the decks up to have someone test against me with. I have next to NO Legacy players near me. The only thing I've tested against is Burning Tog which I always win. O well, I'll check them out and see if I can get some testing in. I've played against MonoW Angel Stompy and I dominate it because I can outrun it into turn 4 where I can beef up with timberwatch or out lifegain with wellwisher. I'll see what I can do over tonight, but for now....I'm at work. Leaving for the Con in the Morn...WOOT!
Masterbeeble - Huge props for trying elves. I think you need something to stop solidarity, it'll probably have a huge showing. City of Solitude is decent, limiting them to 3 turnabout (4th probably wishboarded), because reset won't work.
I would so go if I didn't live over a thousand miles away.
sorry, i wasn't clear. that wasn't a prediction, i was listing the archetypes from the 10 decks/players that played in the Legacy Side event at Grand Prix St. Louis.
I expect 2-3 lower tier decks to top 8 (including me)...this could be combo or a really lucky burn player if too few players show up
2 goblins
1 thresh
1 high-tide
1 landstill
i expect pikula to just miss the top 8
I don't think I'm playing blue...heh, but my deck will likely be able to produce every other color. My deck's name will be Roman Candle.

I could just run Dosan the Falling Leaf and still get the effect with a 2/2 creature. I'd rather like to keep creatures in my deck and not add spells/enchants. I do see what you mean. Maybe if I'm splashing the Black SB, I could add a couple Cranial Extractions to help remove some win conditions. Thoughts?
Goblins and Thresh will t8, no doubt, since Thresh is a great deck, and Goblins is always completely overplayed. Solidarity will show up a little, and at least one will make the top 8. Angel Stompy has a chance, and so does Survival, but since this the first major event since the last GP, there will be a large showing of new decks, and a few of the better ones will at least make 32.
I'll be there, bringing AlcatrazSur, hopefully I'll be at the Prelim and the Championship, but I may miss the Prelim due to arriving from my flight one hour earlier. Leaving on Sunday, so I won't be getting to that one.

I would just have graveyard hate in the board. I don't know if Cranial will do enough for you. I think Armageddon would be better.
I am a little worried about Instill Energy. That card seems so sub optimal. I would rather run Concordant Crossroads for the haste and a way to wipe out the random World Enchantment you may run across.

I am looking for Date Stamped promos from Khans of Tarkir block so I can finish my set. Check my wants if you have any.
Currently offering 2 non-foil Kolighan's Command for a Date Stamped foil!

I prefer Instill Energy for the 0: Untap. With Priest early it helps for massive acceleration and an earlier win with staff if I can get it. I've gone off turn 2 before, but it takes an optimal opening hand. Crypt sounds good, but I'm not sure what else sideboard...
I expect to see a lot of Goblins and Threshold, possibly some B/W. I really expect to see a lot of rogue decks that no has metagamed for (I hate it when that happens).
I'll also be keeping a close eye on all of you at the event (I'll find out who you are). I'm judging all 4 days of Gen-Con, including Vintage and Legacy Worlds, and the Ravnica/It. Legends tournament.
Hope to see most of you there.

"So, replacement effects are stronger than triggered effects?"
While netdecking and testing VileHorror i thought about Biorhythm. Sure its really expensive, off-color and crappy but still you're always the one with creatures while playing VH. That made me think.
i got 12th...if my opponent would have drawn with me in the 8th/final round I would have top 8'd with 6-1-1 rec instead of 6-2. 190 players. my last round opponent, who beat me game 1 and 3, went on to win it: Roland Chang with blue/green madness + jitte. top 8 can be found listed lots of places, not going to list it now, but had u/g mad, salvagers, gobs, 2 iggy pop, truffle shuffle, and some other stuff i believe. i only lost 4 games all day. i went 3-2 on sunday, losing to pikula and iggy pop.

My teammate, Matt Abold, took top 8 with Truffle Shuffle. I'm proud to say that although I personally could not make it to GenCon, my Pithing Needles (In Roland's Sideboard) won the tournament.
