Exactly, thats the reason I also run Terminate. Eldrazi is still problematic as hell I think though. It certainly helps having an answer to endbringer at some point.
I used to be a big fan of desecration demon in modern jund. It was a big beater for cheap that was hard to remove.
However, in legacy, so many decks run pyromancer, baleful strix, mentor, millions of elves and so forth. Also, more decks are running fatal push, which decrease its resistance to removal. I've been playing this deck for a few years now, and one card that always is a beast is bloodbraid elf. I would max on bloodbraids before adding other one-of four drops.
The sideboard looks like you're trying to midrange harder post-board. In my opinion, most of your sideboard should be geared towards the decks that go way over the top of us or combo quickly. Control decks and midrange decks are already good matchups.
I typically base my sideboard on what cards I will take out in a given matchup. For instance, my sideboard looks like this:
2x surgical extraction
2x faerie macabre
2x pithing needle
2x pyroblast
1x dismember
1x toxic deluge
1x golgari charm
1x null rod
1x Chandra, torch of defiance (or other planeswalker)
1x dread of night
1x lost legacy (flex slot)
So, against BUG decks, I typically board out 4x thoughtseize, and 1 hymn to tourach. I replace them with 2x pyroblast, 1x Chandra, 1x toxic deluge, and 1x dismember.
Against lands, I board out 4x thoughtseize, and 3x hymn. I board in 2x surgical, 2x faerie macabre, 2x pithing needle, and 1x Chandra.
Against storm, I board out 3x punishing fire, 3x abrupt decay. I board in 2x surgical, 2x pyroblast, 1x null rod, 1x lost legacy. Honestly this matchup is so bad I could really board out much more, but it would warp my sideboard too much.
I don't run any fatal push in the 75. I would much rather run lightning bolt, because it's much more versatile and helps with my clock. Push doesn't help with gurmag angler or reality smasher, which dismember handles. The one match up it would actually help in is infect, which in legacy, is a really tough deck for jund to beat. Abrupt decay and punishing fire just suck against infect. However, there's not much infect in the meta and I can't dedicate any extra spots to the matchup.
Just some examples from my experience with the deck. This is my main deck, though I sometimes run BG turbo depths and Nic Fit.
Since top has gotten banned, there has been a lot of talk about a DRS ban, how would this affect our deck?
I wouldn't worry about this now. I would be more worried that our best match-up is now gone and combo will start to come back. The meta was relatively even in terms of diversity, but now combo will not be as scared, which is bad for Jund. I for one am considering rebuilding either Storm or Sneak and Show.
Yeah we can't control the bannings, so there isn't much point worrying about it.
However, I think the fact that everyone is hyping the power of death rite shaman really works to our favor. I've been playing against a lot of people lately who are deathly afraid of this one-drop and will expend tons of resources trying to get rid of it. I am seeing every DRS get force of will, fatal push, abrupt decay, and board sweeper being thrown at it. Then they have an empty hand and I'm beating down with a Tarmogoyf and a dark confidant the rest of the game.
I had someone stifle my DRS four times last night in a single game. People are scared of this thing.
hey guys! i've got a couple of questions for everyone now that the format's been turned upside-down
1. what's the general solution to combo decks other than "scoop" and "avoid it"? i've got pyroblast and lost legacy, and in a lot of matchups i can bring in null rod, pithing needle, grafdigger's cage, and chains of mephistopheles, but a lot of the time it feels slow.
2. is kolaghan's command good enough in legacy? i come from playing modern jund and the card's a house there, and the day i flip it after casting a bloodbraid elf is the day i win magic, but it might be a little overkill.
3. who else was firmly on the side of library in the debate of library vs top in jund and now feels smugly vindicated?
for the record, my current list (still in workshop mode due to changes in the meta) is below
1) While this deck is definitely ata disadvantage against a lot of combo decks, I don't think any of them are just "scoop" matchups. Even the worst matchups can sometimes be won with disruption + pressure. These matchups are the main reason I play lightning bolt over fatal push. Same for me laying against lands.
2) Kolaghan's command is a great card in the grinder matchups, particularly against stoneforge decks. I have personally always run one copy, but I know people who run more.
3) I've always been on the side of library as a dark confidant #5. When your deck is a lot of 3x and 4x cards, the raw card draw is better.
Hi mates,
I'm an italian player and after the ban of my favourite legacy deck, Miracles, I decided to choose Jund in Modern and Legacy.
I've never played Jund, but with some local tournaments I made nice results with this list:
I play 61 cards because "I NEED MORE POWER" !! Kolaghan's Command is one of my favourite cards and, in addition, I consider Bloodbraid less powerful now.
I don't play Fatal Push because I don't want to cast it with the Cascade ability of BBElf.
Instead of the 3th BBElf, maybe I'll test Garruk Relentless or Chandra, Torch of Defiance. What do u think about them? So, and BBElf now?
About removal spells, I've found a fantastic equilibrium. I don't think to change any removals in my deck.
About the sideboard, my metagame is full of blue-decks, Grixis delver/control, bug levold/delver, team america, some reanimator, death&taxes, ant.
Thank you so much for your reply and sorry for my bad english!

Your main deck seems fine, but I don't think you have enough game against combo in your sideboard. I'd consider adding more discard or other things in place of things like 3 REB/Pyro, Faerie Macs, and Diabolic Edict.
The REB/Pyros are usually not that great. You already have a ton of removal for Delver decks and I find sitting on them against Show and Tell isn't a great idea since I'd rather be proactive and destroy their hand instead of waiting on them to cast Show anD tell.
Definitely run at least 3 pieces of GY hate, but I've never been a big fan of Faerie. I like Grafdigger's Cage and Surgical more because they work in a lot of other match-ups too.
T1: BUG CONTROL 2-1 (1-0)
GAME 1: Deathrite and Liliana in the first two rounds...a Tarmogoyf closed the match.
GAME 2: I had a Dark Confidant and a Tarmogoyf onto the battlefield...2 Hymn to Tourach were resolved before. At his topdeck: Fatal Push, Snapcaster Mage, Leovold and Tombstalker....
GAME 3: Land Seize, Land Tourach, Land Liliana won the game.
T2: MONO BLACK 1-2 (1-1)
GAME 1: He began with land - dark ritual - seize - tourach......Lost the match LOL
GAME 2: Ultimate of Liliana and 2 Tarmogoyf.
GAME 3: He began with land - seize...after that, land sinkhole and then Liliana, the last hope + Waste not....Lost the match.
T3: GRIXIS CONTROL 2-1 (2-1)
GAME 1: With 2 tourach resolved, We were at topdeck with a Sylvan Library onto my battlefield...I lost 8 damages with Liliana, Goyf and Deathrite and then Elf with Punishing Fire.
GAME 2: The recursion of Snapcaster + Strix + KCommand destroyed me.
GAME 3: Land Deathrite. His turn land deathrite...my turn wasteland on his land + Decay on his Deathrite. This advantage has led me to victory.
T4: ELDRAZI 2-1 (3-1)
GAME 1: He began with Chalice of the Void and Thoughknot Seer...His race was too fast for me.
GAME 2: Land Deathrite + 2 Liliana of the Veil and Tourach...G3
GAME 3: Liliana of the Veil was the MVP in this game because of his Seer which can make me to draw 2 Tarmogoyf.

DEATHBLADE 1-2
GAME 1: Land Deathrite and the same in opponent's turn. Wasteland on his land + Decay on his Deathrite. My tourach resolved brought home the victory.
GAME 2: He drew all Stoneforge and Nemesi in his deck.
GAME 3: We were at topdeck but I had a Confidant and a Goyf onto the battlefield...He managed to draw Push + Swords to Plowshares + Nemesi + Nemesi + Jitte. I drew only lands after this turn.....
So, considerations:
- Bloodbraid Elf: it is a strong card, but with his cascade ..... only *****s =) Maybe I can cut all for another KCommand + Garruk Relentless...but I'm not sure about this choice...What do u think about BElf?
- Lightning Bolt: I believe this is useless now, because ever side out in every matchups. But I don't know what could be its replacement.
- 23 lands: perfect number with this list.
- Sylvan Library: MVP in every matchups....this is the 1 one perfect slot in every Jund List.
- Choke: I've ever had in my hand when it was sideboard in, but I prefered to have another card instead of. I don't know, maybe replaced with Chains of Mephistopheles or the 4th Duress or the 3th BElf (against control and other decks where I need card advantage).
- Punishing Fire: a Strong card and in addition the best target with the opponent's Surgical Extraction. I played 3 but I drew some times. But Jund needs this card.
From my small amount of recent testing and what I've been seeing a few other Jund'ers playing, Bloodbraid Elf seems not-so-good right now. I'm not sure what to run in place of it, but I'd really love some suggestions myself. I've been considering some Loam packages, but I'm not convinced it's any good. I really need some help figuring out what to run.

I don't think this should ever be cut. The card advantage and speed it provides is just too good. I know it doesn't always happen, but BBE into Tarmogoyf, Hymn, or even Lili is just too backbreaking.
- Lightning Bolt: I believe this is useless now, because ever side out in every matchups. But I don't know what could be its replacement.
I don't remember if I said it, but I am in the minority and have never run Lightning Bolt in my 75 for this reason. I run 4 Decay, 4 Punishing Fire, and 1 Kolagan's Command and never had removal issues. I'd replace it with more discard (4 Thoughtseize) or a 2nd Sylvan Library. Other things are a main deck Garruk or something.
- Sylvan Library: MVP in every matchups....this is the 1 one perfect slot in every Jund List.
Yes. That is why I run two in my main deck. I am almost never upset to see this in my opener so I'd like to double the chances of seeing it. 4 is too much since more than one Library is useless, but only one leads to seeing it less in a game.
- Choke: I've ever had in my hand when it was sideboard in, but I prefered to have another card instead of. I don't know, maybe replaced with Chains of Mephistopheles or the 4th Duress or the 3th BElf (against control and other decks where I need card advantage).
I took out my chokes maybe two years ago and haven't regretted it. It's a "win more" card and you only side it in games we're already favored. Replace it with something that helps your bad match-ups. Chains is a good choice.
25+ people, changeing regularly.
No one would expect it.
I've been running 1-2 Terminate in my deck since I've returned to Legacy. Fat delve creatures and Eldrazi can be a headache otherwise.
just getting back into legacy and this is my punishing jund list. comments are appreciated and maybe this list will add something to the discussion.
