Any excitement for Brightling? It seems basically made to be a DnT beatstick
I am excited... but I just finished building the deck and don't have a lot of experience in Legacy (right around 0), but I'm hoping it does great things. I think it will replace Mirran Crusader and possibly Brimaz.

I don't think it will replace Mirran Crusader, the protection and sword synergy is too good. Plus, Crusader can be tutored with Recruiter whilst Brightling can't. Brightling is also very expensive on the mana. I hope to see it become a one or two-of, next to Crusader
I personally have 4 flex slots. 2 Serra Avengers, 1 Mirran Crusader and 1 Palace Jailer, and I know I will have 1 Brightling over an Avenger. I used to like Gisela, the Broken Blade when it was spoiled because it had lifelink and was immune to some removal. Brightling is an upgrade to her, and overall an upgrade to Brimaz, King of Oreskos too. I think there could be 2 copies in the 75 at some point.

So I played DnT "seriously" for the first time a couple of weeks back in three 4-round events. My record was 8-3-1, and a detailed report is provided here.
As for Brightling, I expect to play 2 copies. One will replace my 3rd Crusader. I'm not sure what the other will replace, but it may be the 4th SFM.
So, I went 4-0 in my first time playing Legacy! I was playing Brightling and, while it didn't come up often, it did won me a couple of races against Turbo-Depths, first game by gaining me life so I would be over 20 life, and second game by hitting for 5 for a couple of turns, and forcing my opponent to spend 2 spells to kill it (Abrupt Decay, followed by Inquisition of Kozilek while it was in my hand).
Here is the deck list I ran, and a short description of my matches (which I will copy from my tappedout page):
I guess I got a bad case of beginner's luck! There were 4 teams, so we played against every team once, then the 2nd and 3rd played a semi-final game to decide which team would face the 1st team.
2-1 against Turbo-depths. First game, he Inquisitioned two Flickerwisp, and manages to copy his Dark Depths with Thespian's Stage. Luckily, I had drawn my third Flickerwisp with a vial on 3. I first target Marti Lage with Swords to Plowshares, and when he uses Crop Rotation to fetch his protection land, I vial-in Flickerwisp in response. He was at 4 and I had 3 attackers. Game 2 he won on turn 3, while my shields were down to play a Mirran Crusader. It was a risk I had to take to get a clock. Game 3 took a much longer time. I started with 5 lands and Battlerskull! Inquisition whiffed. I had Wasteland and Karakas in play most of the game, and he fell to a beatdown by a Mother of Runes with Umezawa's Jitte. He created a Marit Lage, but I made sure I was over 20 life with Jitte and Mother protected a Flickerwisp to bypass the token.
2-0 against burn. Game 1, turn 3 Batterskull. Game 2 was very, very close. He got me down to 1, killing the first Stoneforge Mystic, but a couple of Swords to Plowshares saved me. He was down to 1 Mountain and I topdecked Sanctum Prelate. I had to chose between Prelate or Batterskull that turn, and I put Prelate on 1, which saved me (he drew Goblin Guide and Lightning Bolt).
2-0 against Grixis Delver. Game 1 was over fast, end of turn 4 his shields were down, so I vialed-in a Mirran Crusader and equipped it with Sword of Fire and Ice, making it all but impossible to deal with. Game 2, he played Delver, Jitte, flipped delver, quipped jitte and swung. Luckily, I had a Swords to Plowshares. It was his only threat all game.
Finished first, and the team we beat ion the first match won the semi-finals.
2-1 against Turbo-Depths. Game 1, I mulled to 5 and lost badly. Game 2, I keep a reasonable 6, though I don't remember the details exactly. We made several bad plays, but I won with Brightling hitting for 4-5 a turn. He had to spend 2 spells to remove it. While we were shuffling, my team won, so we played the last for fun. I remember I was over 30 life and had a Germ with Batterskull and Sword of Fire and Ice equipped at some point.
I'm crying with happiness right now. After 5 years of agony, I feel like justice has finally been served. What's coming is the Legacy I know and love, and I'll thoroughly enjoy every single minute of it until WotC inevitably ****s it up again.
Newer to the deck. Ran my first legacy tourney last week and went 2 0 1. Pretty happy. My question though is should i be running revokers and mirran crusaders still. I want to run a second brightling and a second serra avenger. Im running 2 crusaders and 3 revokers and they were the first to come out every game. Im also thinking spirit of the labyrinth might be more useful. Any matchups where revokers and crusaders would be worth it? Insomuch as do i lose points for not running them anywhere
So does two Brightling feel like the right number? It just feels really good in the deck and was surprised how well it actually works.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
So does two Brightling feel like the right number? It just feels really good in the deck and was surprised how well it actually works.
Im running 2 Brightling now, and I upped my landcount to 24 lands: 3 Canopy, no Cavern. Brightling is obviously at its best when you can activate all its abilities at your leisure
It has been indicated that there was some problem in Treasure Chests, and the supply will likely increase significantly more quickly over the next few days.
Running 2 brightling in cardboard based on Medea's list from Thraben University. It's been great in testing so far.
Is everyone having the same problem getting hold of them on mtgo? I've only managed to pick up one. A second is proving somewhat difficult,
Tough to get em in paper too. I paid $5 for one last week. Got my second before a casual legacy tourney yesterday. It was the last in stock and it was $20. crazy
What are people's face value about the changes to legacy for DnT? What did you change preemtively after the bans? I personally put a faerie macabre in the side to tutor for next to 2 rips and 2 surgicals as gravehate
Remorseful Cleric looks like it could have a spot in the deck, possibly in the main. But other than Cleric and Brightling, I haven't looked at changing all that much.
I swapped a pair of Avengers and Crusaders for Clerics and Brightlings. I also pulled two Cataclysm, a RiP, and a Priest out of the board for a pair of Extractions, an extra Prelate, and a n extra Brightling. If current trends continue, I expect to return the Cataclysms.
Cleric is a reasonably costed flyer with relevant but not especially powerful disruption. This makes it a solid MB choice and a poor SB choice.

Since 2x Remorseful Cleric are playable MD, I think you may cut one RiP for something more flexible (you may add an extra copy of Path, Containment Priest, Canonist, Judgement... according to the numbers you already run).
I also run 2x Brightlings in place of Avengers, expecting Delver to be less present online and Cleric to do the job in the air with Mom (Marit Lage and the mirror in mind). I didn't add a land for Brightling though.

So I know most of our conversations have moved to The Source or our Discord, but just in case people still read this:
So I'm sitting at about 71/75 average viewers over the last month needed for Twitch Partner. I'll be starting a D&T stream tonight at 7:00 PM EST, and if it goes well, I'll hit partner! Please tune in if you can! https://www.twitch.tv/deathandtaxesftw
Walking Ballista is such a blowout against decks full of one=toughness guys, while also being a great late-game mana sink and having the ability to snipe opponents from low life totals and behind stalled board states (including big creatures and Bridges). It's also Recruitable, so you can get away with playing a singleton.
Like most other flex- and sideboard-slots, inclusion is going to be a consideration of what you expect to see in an environment. With DnT as one of the best and most popular decks currently in the format, its natural predator being Elves, and DS-decks rising in popularity, there is a solid case for Ballista right now as it is good against all three. Whether that's good enough is a judgment call for you. I am not currently on a copy, but it is in close consideration.
So i've been a lurker here for a short while, and been thinking of branching into DnT (i'm on reset-high tide right now). I've gone through multiple primers about the deck, so you know, and have goldfished a bit on a stock-build.
Thus far, I've been wondering if the deck seems to be "decided" and set. The variations in the decks I've seen seem to be minimal at most, but i'm not sure where the flex slots are supposed to be. My take is that there aren't enough lands to really have inevitability, and threat variation. Late game, i want to be able to consistently lock my opponent off green or red, while being able to 'threaten' to pull batterskull (and that ties up 6 lands!).
something like that. i think. I've even considered throwing in 4 Flagstones of Trokair and 2 dust bowl just to really hammer in the mana denial strategy and lowering the stoneforges to make space.
anyways, the thought is that on the beatdown, the mana is good, but often, i'm leaning a lot on my ports and wastelands to hammer my opponents mana to keep them off whatever their plan is. But when I'm on the control, i'm REALLY short on mana. so the horizon canopies gives me cards, and the factories also gives me some level of reach and pressure post-wipe. My build might be just a different beast - a more control, using the recruiters as a toolbox effect to pick out whatever it is that i need mid-game.
Does anyone have any thoughts? Am i completely nuts?
