Kiln Fiend and Young Pyromancer deal can't deal damage the turn they are played, therefore they will always be second to Keldon Marauders and Hellspark Elemental. Even if you're able to bolt a blocker to get Kiln Fiend in for damage, that's still :2mana::symr: and -2 cards for 4 damage.
Young Pyromancer takes too long to get anything going and with a paltry 1 toughness, cannot attack headfirst into opposing blockers which is really poor design when you consider you need him to stay alive to receive your token bonuses.
Kiln fiend is best when they have no creatures, an no creatures turns off searing blaze. Seems like the deck is losing consistency, which many would argue is the one true advantage burn has in most to all match ups.
Don't feed the trolls, Kiln Fiend is not a serious suggestion. You'll notice it was offered up by the guy with 100+ Kiln Fiends in his collection, according to signature. Young Pyromancer, I can understand why folks would want to test out before discarding.
It's not that the Fiend is bad, so much as he requires a different deck.

Against Show and Tell I only sideboard 4 Pyroblast for the 4 Price of Progress (if I see to many Non basic maybe for another cards, but usually Price is a dead card in that matchup). I simply try to race them and I win at least 50%. If they go for a turn 2 Emrakul you have a chance, the worst is usually a turn 2 Griselbrand or a Omniscience to combo off.

The Izmagnus are the most powerful members of the Izmundi

Angel of Despair is another choice. The opponent might have enough mana on the table to continue casting, after all, or maybe there's another SnT. I like the Leviathan though, that's a cool catch.
For the hate, I'd say:
Mindbreak: active turn 0, possible card advantage blowout in your favor, played around via discard spells
Runeflare: seems narrow, not sure how it's supposed to work
Pyrostatic: nasty, but slow
Advantage: Mindbreak, in my opinion, effective against a wide variety of problematic decks, doesn't junk up mana, sure it's flimsy but we're desperate in those games anyway. I'd rather have flimsy, but powerful, hate than slow hate. Note that Pyrostatic is vulnerable to all of the same discard spells.
I'd rather stick with Pyroblast, Ensnaring Bridge, and Mindbreak Trap since they aren't dead cards in other matchups. Also, with Omniscience in play, its not as if they can't just Cunning Wish + Trickbind in response to AoD or Leviathan trigger.
However if you really want to hose them via one-dimensional cards, Zealous Conscripts takes the cake.
This is my first post in the new primer thread - happy to see it up at long last! I've kept busy with EDH but I piloted Burn in a small 12-man 4 round Swiss yesterday, and the match-ups were so outrageous that I thought I'd share!
Round 1: Combo Elves
He starts game 1 dropping a t2 Wirewood Symbiote which eats a Magma Jet before it can do anything. Unfortunately he GSZ>Craterhoof Behemoth for 29 trampling damage on turn 4 and I only have a Marauders to suck it up with In game 2, I drop a t1 Grafdigger's Cage (getting two GSZ and 2 NO stuck in his hand, as he later revealed!). The game draws out as he taps out for Qasali Pridemage which I promptly Needle, keeping the Cage intact. Alas, his Deathrite Shaman and Ooze eventually get fodder, he gains life and eventually wins through Glimpse. Both games he managed to Gaea's Cradle twice for enourmous mana thanks to the new legend rules - after the game he said that he would not have won otherwise. Fun game, but alas a 0-2 loss that basically came down to a rules change :/.
Round 2: Blue Lands with Darkt Depths combo
I'm forced to mull a 4 land hand only to find myself with another one. With 5 cards, I see my opponent start with dropping Exploration thinking this might go well. Alas, a 20/20 Marit Lage kills me before I reach my third turn. This is apparently not my father's Loam deck and much has changed since I last piloted legacy Burn. I side in Needles and Smash to Smithereens for game 2 and manage to land a t1 needle on Thespian's Stage to which he has no response at all. I get to see more of his deck this time which featured an unbelieveable hate suite of 4 Sphere of Resistance, at least a couple each of Zuran Orb and Chalice of the Void (but no Explosives for my Needle!), Tolaria West and Academy Ruins to tie it all together AND a Glacial Chasm for good measure. And I still win game 2, through double Sphere of Resistance AND Rishadan Port. Alas, in game 3 I only have time to drop a Needle on Thespian's Stage before Chalice@1 hits me. He has stabilized with Zuran Orb and a fairly far gone Dark Depths before I Magma Jet into Smash to Smithereens. Smashing Chalice allows me to play another Needle but it is too late as he can unleash Lage in response and I can't kill him that turn through Sphere of Resistance. 1-2 and a realization my sideboard needs updating + I again lost game 1 to the new legend rule!
Round 3: Death and Taxes
The pilot has borrowed this deck and let's face it - it's a finesse deck that you can't just really borrow. I know his deck better than he does and get a t3 kill to boot. He manages to take game 2 though as I was forced to both let a Rift Bolt resolve into his t2 Thalia, AND Magma Jet his t3 Mystic getting Batterskull. This lets him get to turn 5 and amazingly he not only makes all his land drops but also top deck Jitte. I had saved Skullcrack for his t6 Batterskull swing, but I had not expected a turn 6 Jitte on top of that. The Skullcrack only puts him at 5 and he gains 4 life off of Jitte in response to my last Burn and we go to game 3. Thalia eats Rift Bolt again and I win on turn 4. Nice, a 2-1 win despite my bad match-ups but it was about to get worse...
Round 4: UW Control with Counterbalance SB
I manage to win game 1 by properly bating counters to resolve Sulfuric Vortex. He plays around PoP very well so it only gets in there for 2, but that and his fetches and a Magma Jet is still enough to seal the deal with Vortex in play. Game 2 he lands a t2 Counterbalance - I have Pyroblast but I'm tapped out from a suspended Rift Bolt (should have anticipated it). I try to kill it in my turn 2 when he's tapped out, but he reveals Ponder and that was that. SDT comes next and I can't resolve 70% of my spells. Game 3 was a really interesting match where I had LOTS of hate but little business. Unfortunately he manages to assemble CounterTop again, but he's cold to most 2-3 CMC spells and I kill two of his Mishra's Factory with Smash to Smithereens. The game is eventually decided by his t2 Meddling Mage (!) chanting Rift Bolt (to prevent my t1 play from resolving). I didn't care about it then because I had no other Rift Bolts and didn't worry about a 10 turn clock. This proved to be a mistake as I had him at 3 with 2 life left and top decked: Rift Bolt. I should have Magma Jetted the bastard when I had the chance and lived to top deck the Fireblast underneath! 1-2.
Despite a few play mistakes that were frankly difficult to foresee, I'm happy with the results in such an unfavorable gauntlet. I should definetely have been packing Vexing Shushers in that meta though, but overall my SB cards performed well. Also, both against elves and D&T, more Vortexes in the board would have been favorable to almost any other anti-life gain solution, as several different cards combined to create a situation that Neddle/Smash alone couldn't handle. Maybe a full playset of Vortexes between main and side is the best option?

Just want to let you guys know he races turn 3 griselbrands, and 18 goblins.
10/10 would run again.
Subpar against tempo decks, though.
Wait a minute. Seriously? Forgive my skepticism, but did those players just get terrible opening hands? I've done plenty of testing against Show and Belcher. Both of those decks can go off as early as turn 1. Kiln Fiend also seems like an obvious counter target for Show. I'm not sure why a Show player would keep an opener without the early combo OR counter protection. Seems like an awful hand for them. As for the Belcher matchup, how many tokens were they holding back to chump block with? Because it seems like they should win that race with18 goblin tokens if they play correctly, unless you had them extremely low already. Which really shouldn't be if you tapped out for Kiln Fiend on turn 2 at earliest.
Honestly, that sounds like a lucky streak against a series of bad hands/draws/play mistakes. Though I am open to reading a play by play to convince me otherwise.

Nan, I don't remember much, but I'll see what I can do. This was at Channelfireball
Round 1: goblins
Game 1 sucked becuase I drew all 4 chain lightnings, and he got turn 1 vial
Game 2 I killed him with kiln fiend on turn 3 (the only time I cast wear//tear was this game, in order to get rid of his vial)
game 3, price of progress for 8..twice
Round 2: Shardless BUG
Price of progress + thoughtseizing my cards = priceless
round 3: Thopter Tezz
Kiln fiend did work here, and I actually won through chalice on 1 in games 2 and 3, simply by killing my opponent with kiln fiend, and using fireblast as removal on his baleful strix. Both times i have 2x kiln fiend, so it was overkill, but very effective overkill. THank god my 1 drops still were effectively lightning bolts.
round 4: Mono-U Delver
Lack of removal = kiln fiend is a baws
round 5: Draw (maverick, not Dayv Doberne)
Round 6: Draw (Deathblade, which I should have played against in order to dreamcrush)
top 8: I played it out vs Dayv Doeberne because I am an idiot (he top 2d scg seattle recently).
I got kiln fiend to either 10 or 13 on the kill turns. He was a powerful card that forced my opponents to answer him. Many of the decks I played against wasted their removal on Goblin Guide and Grim Lavamancer, so producing a lethal kiln fiend was not at all hard.
Wear//Tear was good, will be packing it again. I didn't see any leylines or anything of the sort, but I know they were out there. I prefer this card over Smash to Smithereens. Easily prefer it. The ability to get rid of enchantments in the show n tell matchup (leylines) is good. Plus, since I'm running kiln fiend I normally get 3 damage off of this anyways.
I really wish the deck had a card that could function as searing blaze, but I could also point at the face. My opponents having a creature sometimes took awhile, and that creature was normally tarmogoyf.

Just wanted to post to thank everyone for their contributions to my favorite archetype.
Just getting into legacy and beat someone with burn on MTGO, was a great match but he was not happy. "Enjoy poverty" he said...lol
so ive been working on a legacy deck for a while, and now i am trying to make the deck at least competative at the tournaments i go to. This is the decklist i have right now for my deck:
MAIN
spells
4x lightning bolt
4x lava spike
4x chain lightning
4x rift bolt
4x bump in the night
4x deathrite shaman
4x goblin guide
4x price of progress
4x searing blaze
3x fireblast
That's burn with the Grim Lavamancers replaced with Deathrites. I'd post your list on the burn thread instead of here cause they'd be able to give you much more constructive advice.
At first glance you may want to replace Wasteland with mountains and consider adding sulfuric vortexes or skullcracks. A single large lifelink attacker like a batterskull can cause you to lose the game outright. Also remember if you only run a single mountain, a resolved PoP can kill you as fast as your opponent.
I'd replace Breaking Point with Anarchy or something that can deal with Leyline of Sanctity. As a general rule 'choice' effects like Breaking Point and Browbeat are usually bad, the exception being Vexing Devil.
I do like your list though. I've toyed with a R/B burn that also runs Death's Shadow (at least in the SB). I would replace a Searing Blaze with another Fireblast though. Fireblast is such an essential card that has won me so many games at least a turn earlier than I should have.
Can't speak to a general consensus but in my testing it's been too slow for maindeck slots in almost every matchup. I could see it in the board perhaps but as they say, to add a card you have to take out a card, and the main' and the 'board are both too tight now to fit it in. That said I haven't done a ton of testing or brought Pyromancer to a tourney so I could very well be wrong, that's just my initial impression from running a dozen or so games with it against various decks.

I do like your list though. I've toyed with a R/B burn that also runs Death's Shadow (at least in the SB). I would replace a Searing Blaze with another Fireblast though. Fireblast is such an essential card that has won me so many games at least a turn earlier than I should have.
